Fantastic experience: I’ve had the pleasure of getting multiple tattoos from Catarina, and I can’t recommend her enough! She’s incredibly talented, especially with anime-style tattoos, and she also did an amazing snake design for me. Beyond her artistic skills, she’s also super friendly and easy to chat with, which makes every session fun and relaxed. I even had my dad get a tattoo from her, and he loved it too! If you’re looking for a talented and personable tattoo artist, Catarina is the way to go!:3

Fantastic experience: Was tattooed the other day with duncan, he was absolutely amazing, drew up a beautiful design and was very patient with me as I was getting my first big piece, allowed me to take breaks when needed and offered drinks and snacks during the appointment. The studio was clean and decorated in a fun and tasteful way. Would 100% reccomend getting tattooed here.

Fantastic experience: I got a cover up tattoo done by the great Dunken, we spoke on and off about how i wanted my tattoo to be and the size of it we played with a few ideas and when it came to the day of the tattoo he knocked it out of the park, it was an all day session so he took his time and put some of detail into it i have to say it was one of the best tattoo experiences I’ve had, the pain was minor and we sat there chatting away and exchanging stories which made the whole process fly by and very enjoyable, i can’t thank Dunken enough, you were super kind and gentle, very open and cooperative, you let your creativity run wild and the end result was absolutely beautiful, you did such a good job and i defo will be recommending you to others and coming back to get more ink done. Rivergate in general is one of the better tattoo places the artists there are all so lovely and friendly they greet you with open arms and treat you as their own so you will have no problem with feeling like you don’t belong. Something so therapeutic about getting tattooed and feeling great afterwards. Thank you again Dunken your absolutely amazing

Fantastic experience: I've been here a couple of times to get tattooed by Dunkan and I absolutely love the place! As soon as you come in there's a heavy gothic vibe that just hit you in the face, I love it. There are so many prints and designs, some of them from my favourite artists also so, how I cannot adore this studio?? Dunkan is so lovely, makes you feel at home right away and has a very gentle hand. His designs are amazing and I wish he would make some prints *coughcough just dropping a hint here Dunk coughcough* because I would definitely buy some!!! Love you guys!! (I thought I had a picture of the finished tattoo but I don't so check Dunkans profile for it lol )

The design was everything I could ever want, she went above and beyond to create such an amazing design and was so considerate of what I envision and gave great advice to ensure my tattoo would heal well and look amazing!! I will be making repeat returns to river gate for more tattoos I couldn't be happier or feel more welcomed (plus the decor is so cool which is just an added bonus).

Highly recommended Edit: Came a second time and this time Ben did some fabulous tattoos on me, quick, easy and practically painless, both Ben and Cat are extremely talented artists and I highly recommend both of them <3

Fantastic experience: I actually feel a bit sorry for the Rivergate team as they’re going to have to put up with me many times more in the near future. I’d imagine I’m a nuisance customer because I’m impatient, wanting to get booked in ASAP, but also want larger pieces that take up a day. I have obscure and weird design requirements, yet couldn’t wield a pencil if my life depended on it. So I rely on Catarina to turn my weird ideas into reality and take hours out of her personal time to research and design something that I’ve conveyed by words. Then you have Sensei Dunkan, who is spookily knowledgeable and who I feel like I generally get on with really well after only meeting twice, which is unexpected due to my own “esoteric” taste in things that most people think are odd. I almost want to rate 1 star to try and put off competing customers so I’ve more chance of getting more appointments quicker, but that’d be unfair on the whole team. They’re all equally incredibly welcoming, which is a huge bonus when you’re spending the entire day in the studio. It’s my idea of the perfect blend of professionalism and talent, with a laid back atmosphere and no egos or cockiness. Just great people who are easily as passionate about the artwork I’m asking for as I am when I’m requesting it. I’ll be going back for many more full day sessions this year. Last thing to add is that I do support all the local artists that I’ve dealt with over the years, so there are some great people down the road at Red Inc who I’ve used before and would have no concerns about booking in with in the future. But for my personal taste of work, the Rivergate team understand what I’m looking for, particularly Catarina who specialises in Anime style, and Dunkan’s expert knowledge. That’s not to take anything away from Mateo and Ben, I had plenty of time to see what they were up to also while I’ve been there, and I have nothing but praise. See you all again soon! ありがとうございます

Negative experience: Had my nose pierced here. Found the woman very cold and not engaging with me. She just brushed me off. A month after the piercing it fell out in my sleep ‍♀️ so waste of money really.

Fantastic experience: Dunkan is AMAZING, so lovely, friendly and welcoming. The tattoo he designed for me was perfect, gorgeous and exactly what I wanted, he double checked placements and made sure I was really happy with it multiple times so I didn't feel awkward asking for exactly what I wanted! The work was careful and beautifully executed and looks breathtaking. I couldnt help myself and even picked out a flash to get after my custom was done! The only danger booking here is that you might be unable to leave without getting more ink than you planned because his designs are all so beautiful hahaha Thank you so much Dunkan for giving me a piece of art I will be able to wear proudly forever, I can't wait to come back and get more!

Fantastic experience: I'm from Luton and left 20 odd years ago..been in lent as my 18 year old daughter is here....I had some old tattoos that needed covereing up so found a tattooist in kent...I let him do the line work and then sacked him. Then I found rivergate and dunkan. He rescued the cover up cover up. Is genuinely knowledgeable and highly skilled. He went on to change my 1/2 sleeve into a stunning full sleeve 30.11.2024 Update,the Hannya Mask was added today and I'm stunned again,the level of intricate detail is just stunning.Thank you so much for creating this masterpiece of art that now adornes my left arm ❤️ I salute for your skills and really good company while creating masterpieces.

Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic tattoo session just yesterday as the flash deal was too good to pass up, the place as always was very welcoming, open and clean with a lot of care and attention to detail taken on making sure the workspace was sanitised. The staff are friendly and always check in to see how everything is going. While this isn’t my first time as a customer to the shop it was my first time with Matteo as the artist and he was fantastic his attention to detail was superb and really took the time to go over size and placement options to make sure I was as happy as could be with the tattoo I would get. All in all another fantastic trip to Rivergate and it certainly won’t be my last

One thing I really appreciate is how fair their pricing is, especially considering the time and effort they put into each piece. Fantastic experience: amazing little studio!! i went in for 3 tattoos from Cat, and she was absolutely lovely from start to finish, from taking time to help me make tricky placement decisions to just ensuring the entire process was comfortable <3 one was my first leg tattoo so i was a little nervous and indecisive on placement but Cat was a huge help with that all :) and of course the tattoos came out looking fantastic, i came in for tattoos from some of my favorite nerdy pieces of media - hades the game, the last unicorn, and winx club - and Cat absolutely smashed it, she perfectly captured the vibe of the original references while still adding a little bit of her own Cat sparkle ✨✨ im obsessed !! the vibe in the studio is also wonderful, i felt right at home from the moment i walked in chatting with Cat and Dunkan 10/10 tattoos and 10/10 people, what more could u ask for in a tattoo studio hehe!!

Fantastic experience: I had such a wonderful experience at Rivergate Tattoo, the artists Dunkan and Cat, who were in the studio at the time, were so welcoming and made me feel very comfortable throughout every stage of the process. Cat, the artist tattooing me was very attentive to my needs, to make sure I was in no unnecessary pain or in any uncomfortable position. Above all this, she did an amazing job on my tattoo and it looks amazing. 10/10, will definitely be a regular customer. I was very satisfied with the service.

Negative experience: Just had to take out my second piercing because I’ve realised that is also in a terrible place. Not a good job and massive waste of time. I was offered for them to do the work again but I won’t return because I don’t trust her ability.

Fantastic experience: I've initially met Dunkan in a London based studio and followed him back to Luton. His professionalism, dedication to his customers and wide expertise was definitely worth it. Studio is quirky and cosy, artists are skilled in a variety of styles and atmosphere never fails to amaze. I'd highly recommend it to anybody.

Fantastic experience: Lovely space with a comfortable, warm atmosphere and A+ staff. Professional, reliable and helpful, always there to advise or assist, no matter if you're getting a big tattoo done or changing your piercings.

Negative experience: Came in to get my daughter's ears pierced, waited 30 mins and wasn't even acknowledged, we left and went to adrenaline instead, much better customer service.

Fantastic experience: I had my traditional rose tattoo done here by Emma and it is absoloutely amazing- this studio is well worth travelling to, the art is very very highly quality and you will leave with a tattoo better than you expected it to be! I have anxiety disorder and can become overwhelmed in crowded places, but I felt really relaxed here they make you feel comfortable and right at home it's a very warm welcoming chilled atmosphere everyone is lovely and friendly. The art in the studio is absoloutely amazing and world class honestly you can't go wrong here. If you are looking to get high quality traditional tattoos then this is the place to go. This studio definitely needs as much recognition as London ones as it is incredible. I will most definitely be back:)

From showing me the stencil of the design I wanted; to sitting me down in the extremely clean chair and talking to me throughout the experience; she was patient and brilliant. The ambient conversations from the other staff members was topical and progressive; definitely my speed. Fantastic experience: Got my first tattoo at Rivergate this week and I’m more than happy. Greg and the staff were so friendly on my first visit to the shop and being a complete novice I felt at ease right away! I booked a month ahead but due to my anticipation I phoned a week later to ask to bring the appointment forward which was no problem. I had an idea and an image in my mind of what I wanted and I was blown away when I saw the sketch. These guys have something special; after months of having this image in the back of my mind and checking out various shops I knew I found the right place. Emma took my idea and completely smashed it beyond my expectations! Before, during and after I was reassured, looked after and given advice. The whole team are great and so friendly which put me at ease! If you’re looking for a new or another tattoo please check these guys out. Can’t thank them enough!

Fantastic experience: Absolute gem of a shop, super friendly and welcoming. Have been tattooed in a lot of shops over the past 15 years, and rivergate definitely had the best atmosphere. Everyone from the front desk to the tattooists are just really nice people and happy to answer questions and clearly love what they do. Definitely the least intimidating shop I've been tattooed in. I got a piece by Emma, good communication when I sent her over reference, and she came up with some little changes that I hadn't thought of that actually made it better. Good tunes, and Greg the desk guy kept me supplied with coffee. I'm used to london rates so slightly cheaper rate was welcome, and Emma works pretty fast.

Fantastic experience: This is my first visit to Rivergate, and I couldn't be any happier, both with the advice and welcome, and the beautiful piece Emma designed for me. I have two old tattoo's which I wanted to be covered, but not just a simple cover up or like for like. Greg and Emma totally understood what I was looking for, and my first piece is so beautiful...I've had so many compliments already, I really can't believe how stunning it is. I look forward to coming back very soon to start on my next piece, which I know will be very special! I would recommend Rivergate to all my friends, and am so glad I found them.
