Kookie Tattoo

Fantastic experience: Yesterday was my fourth tattoo, but the first at Kookie Tattoo. Aside from the truly amazing result (which was better than my reference image and better than I expected to end up with), the whole experience was just so pleasant. It's exactly how you hope a tattoo session turns out. Reception were great and the atmosphere was super friendly (regularly asking if I needed anything, offering to get tea/coffee, etc.). I was sat right by reception whilst waiting and I could hear how they were interacting with the people (of all ages, and all backgrounds) who came in the door. It was a perfect example of how it should be done. Nicole was just fantastic. Just so, so friendly and welcoming. She adjusted the stencil when I asked, without any pushback (which is what you expect, but I know some artists can be a pain if you want small changes that they don't see as necessary), then conferred with one of the other artists on a couple of points (again, super kudos for her doing that), and then even suggested that the stencil might need adjusting a second time because it was over by a couple of millimetres (which when I looked at it more closely, it was out by a couple of millimetres, so more kudos to her for spotting that), and then I asked to reposition the stencil yet again and it was no problem for her. The actual tattoo could have been done two ways: the quicker and easier way but with a lesser result, or the more time consuming and more difficult way which would end up with a much better result...Nicole did the second one. I'm very grateful to her that she's so conscientious and focused on the final outcome (sorry again about the dots! :-) ). I can't recommend Nicole and Kookie Tattoo highly enough and even though it's a 90 minute drive from where I live, there's really no reason for me to go anywhere else for future tattoos, now that I've experienced the best.

Fantastic experience: Today I have spoken with Chelsea and Martina (please forgive me if I've spelt your names incorrectly)! I have had 4 Greek tattoos/2 half sleeves by Archie and love them! Currently I am stuck as to my next. I wish to continue on the Greek God's theme but which and placement, that's it. They really helped me on how to narrow down and how to narrow that further which makes my decision easier to then leave the final idea or 2 to be discussed with Archie on the day! I will be booking another day session soon! Thanks guys!

Fantastic experience: This was my 3rd tattoo at Kookie, and it was another fantastic experience. I was working with Pedro, and we were continuing on my sleeve. Pedro's vision, skill, eye for detail, and calm demeanor make him a fantastic artist. The design was freehand drawn onto my arm, making it fit me perfectly. His application is also brilliant, he's very gentle and it's as pain free as is possible for a tattoo. 10/10 would recommend

Negative experience: My experience with this studio was disappointing. My daughter had booked with a deposit but had Covid. We tried to rearrange but they would not carry over her deposit. Really disappointing for an 18 year old having her first tattoo. They just seemed to be focused on taking her money with no concern for customer experience. It was even suggested she could have had the tattoo with Covid. This concerned me as you should not have a tattoo with an infection for obvious health and safety reasons. I would not have wanted her to give the artist Covid too! Really unhelpful and especially as she didn't waste an appointment as her friend went anyway. The owner didn't bother ringing me back and the manager was not sympathetic at all. Would avoid - there are many better studios locally...

Fantastic experience: Wow this is the most professional tattoo studio I have ever experienced. I had a chat at reception regarding what I wanted and we agreed Tulio de Paulaa would be the best artist to achieve my dream. We agreed on 2 back to back day sessions. The booking and payment system is informative and ensures you feel confident that the studio is a business and has high levels of customer service. Front of house staff are attentive and keep you comfortable while your artist prepares their work. Once in the chair Tulio worked his magic. The atmosphere in the studio is fantastic and I always felt comfortable and welcome. I highly recommend this studio.

They have been fantastically supportive throughout every step, ensuring I am comfortable with the process and made sure I was paired with an artist that matched what I was looking to have done (Tulio - also 5*). Fantastic experience: Been to Kookie a few times now, staff are always friendly and in a good mood. Always offered a coffee/tea and everything is made super easy. I was lucky enough to book their guest artist Lyon Sandro who is incredible at what he does. Ever since I’ve had my tattoos done I get constant compliments on how clean they look and people asking where I’ve got them done. I’m always happy to recommend Kookie to everyone. Can’t wait for Lyon to return so we can get my sleeve finished off!

Fantastic experience: I had such a lovely experience getting my tattoo the other day, not a single bad comment and it definitely lives up to the reviews. I was greeted with friendly faces who offered me a drink and a place to sit. Kookie has such a lovely warm and welcoming environment and I instantly felt relaxed from the moment I walked in. I had my tattoo with Summah who bought my ideas to life and I am super happy with the results. This was my first bigger piece and Summah made me feel calm and relaxed,and checked in on me multiple times throughout the process. The studio is full of life and laughter. I highly recommend Kookie to anyone looking for a tattoo studio.

Negative experience: Quite disappointed with the experience. I’d been trying to book a tattoo with them for weeks through their Instagram page. They took 3–4 days to reply initially, and after I sent over all the details they asked for, I was ignored for another week. When I followed up, they asked me the same questions again about the tattoo I wanted. They’re clearly active on Instagram, posting regularly — yet can’t find the time to respond to a potential client? A real shame. Their designs are great, but I definitely didn’t feel like a valued customer.

Fantastic experience: What a lovely experience. It was my first tattoo and what I was asking for was pretty large so I was pretty anxious but my artist was so really friendly and understanding and chilled. Calmed me straight away. And she gave me exactly wanted, maybe even more because one element was unique and bespoke. Getting your first tattoo is a kinda big deal/anxious thing and Elllie was very good at settling my nerves, her line work and shading was soo on point. I have a degree in illustration and work as a graphic designer and I'm a perfectionist so she had a difficult person to please but she nailed it couldn't be happier

It’s all so clean, stylish and comfortable. I had a delightful coffee. Up in the studio is also a nice vibe, all the other artist are really nice and welcoming. I had my tattoo done by Summah, she’s a very talented fine line and realism tattoo artist. I came in with a million pictures and ideas for my wrist tattoo and she brought my idea to life. She worked really hard to perfect it and I appreciate that. I’m so happy and grateful for the final result.

Fantastic experience: What can I say? Over the years, I've been to a few studios. This, by far, was the best. From the moment I stepped in, I felt calm and at home. Forget that anxious feeling of uncertainty you get with other studios; there was none of that here! Fantastic experience: The best place for tattoos by a long way, created a great bond with my tattoo artist Nicole Cruz, and will only ever be tatted by her now, she's a great artist with keen eye for detail, working with you on your ideas and bringing them to life Kookies atmosphere is something you don't find that often, the place just has soul, banter and an ora about it. Fantastic experience: My daughter and I had three discrete, small, fine-line and delicate tattoos (her 2; me 1) recently. They were our first tattoos. I must say Poppy did an excellent job. So here’s our review. Firstly, thank you Poppy for your mindful and attentive attitude; for going calmly and slowly; and pausing to check-in with how we felt during the process. You made it a very relaxed and easy experience for us; and you did a fabulous job with the beautiful artwork. We’re very happy. Indeed, the whole experience was a pleasurable one. I looked at reviews for numerous tattoo places in and around Southampton and chose Kookie because it appeared from the website and reviews to be clean, safe, welcoming and high quality. We can vouch it is all of those. This was important to us, being new to the scene. On the day there were several customers, and we weren’t the youngest or oldest; and whilst everyone else were clearly not newbies, the atmosphere was welcoming, relaxed and respectful. For anyone else considering their first tattoo, we’d offer this advice (a) Kookie is a friendly welcoming place; and (b) the pain is not really a pain, more of a sharp discomfort, at least in our experience. Fantastic experience: I had a full day booked with Lottie for a tattoo I'd only been thinking about for 15 years. This was my first ever and a birthday present from my daughter Never having had a tattoo I was a little apprehensive about what it would be like but Lottie put me at ease and was very gentle and attentive. There were plenty of breaks when needed. Lottie stayed well after closing time to finish the design. Currently going through the scabbing stage but very happy with the results All healed up now! The studio is lovely and all artists I met were so nice. Already thinking about the next one

Fantastic experience: Had 3 sessions now with Lottie and can't fault anything about the experience. She gives her honest opinion on any ideas I have and was professional from start to finish. I am so happy with the results so far and will 100% be using her for any future pieces.

Negative experience: Booked 3 session in total with a tattoo artist named Kuki there. The artist showed up over an hour and a half late to the first session. The second session he changed the session start time as I was coming up from London by multiple hours. The final session he sent a message to me as I was traveling up to Southampton from London. He said he doubled booked and the new session time would be 5 hours from when we agreed. I cancelled the session and got on the first train back to London. I can’t say for the rest of the artists there but based on my experiences as Kookie studio I would not recommend. Go elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: I honestly cannot recommend Kookie, and particularly Nicole, enough. From the initial response from the admin staff to the first consultation with Nicole, to the artwork itself, the experience of getting tattooed at Kookie is second to none. I came in with a complicated idea for a sleeve and Nicole took my concept and turned it into an unbelievable work of art. The studio is gorgeous and the staff are extremely welcoming which makes each sitting really comfortable and feel like a premium experience, which is all really just a bonus, because you're going to walk out with ink you're going to want to have on permanent display. I can say in all honesty that I will never go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I was lucky enough to have my first ever tattoo with guest artist Alcides. He was so lovely and warm, very reassuring and calming my first-tattoo-jitters. It was a wonderful environment to be in and all the staff was amazing and kind. I am so honoured to be tattoo’ed by Alcides. Thank you for being my first tattoo artist! I’ll be back for some more when you’re in the U.K. again :)

I have visited Kookie for a number of days sessions now and it's been fantastic. All of the artists have so much interest in other artists work and the varied talent is insane! Tulio has been responsible for every session when attending Kookie and his work is mind bending! Anyone....and I mean anyone looking to get a new tattoo should look here first. Fantastic experience: I had a day session with Tulio and I am so happy with the result, the outcome was better than I had imagined. Tulio stayed longer than the original time slot and was such a nice guy to work with. The staff at Kookie were very welcoming and the atmosphere makes the time go so much quicker. Negative experience: Lovely studio, however I was unfortunately left with a tattoo I disliked. They are very quick to book you in - I believe I managed to get an appointment with Poppy within the week I first enquired - but unfortunately if you want your tattoo amended if you are not happy with it then you have to wait a while to get booked in. I booked in for a rose and my mums name to be tattooed on my side of ribs. At first I was happy with the tattoo but when I got home after looking at it longer I realised that the flower actually looked like more of an animals face rather than a flower. It was really unfortunate as I really loved the rest of the tattoo. They could only get me booked in a month after, I understand I had to wait 2 weeks for my tattoo to heal but it just felt like there was no rush to get me booked in. I actually did want another tattoo done at Kookie’s as I just thought what happened with my flower tattoo was unfortunate, but as I had to wait that long for my amendment and that they refused to let another artist see me I changed my mind. I ended up going to another tattoo artist sooner and they did what they could to fix the tattoo, all whilst having to pay more money. The service I received when I got the tattoo was good, but unfortunately if you are not happy with the tattoo after then there really is no rush to get you booked back in.

Fantastic experience: Had an all-day session with Tulio for the first part of my sleeve and he absolutely nailed it. I went in with a vague idea and not only did he bring it to life but he improved it massively! It was a long session but he was an amazing guy to work with, could not recommend more. He answered all my questions about the process, the aftercare and how it would tie together with future pieces and honestly couldn't have made me more comfortable. Highly highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: After more than a dozen hours Annie completed this amazing piece adding in the Mandala background to an earlier work she had also done. Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend Kookie Tattoo highly enough! Great studio, awesome team and highly skilled artists. I'd spent years deciding what to get and where to go for my first tattoo, and I couldn't be happier with the result. I had the pleasure of working with Tulio, who's attention to detail and passion for his craft was exceptional. Tulio took an original photo of mine and put his own creative spin on it to design a tattoo beyond my wildest imagination. I spent a total of 9 hours in the chair in a single day, which although painful at times, was an incredible experience and one I'll never forget. As an international guest artist, Tulio was due to fly back to Brazil the following day, but he worked after hours and went above and beyond to ensure his best work. His laser focus and pursuit of perfection was utterly inspiring and I cannot thank him enough for the work of art he has left on my arm. I'll definitely be seeing him again when he returns next summer! 10/10!

Fantastic experience: Had my second tattoo completed at Kookie today and I cannot recommend the parlour nor my artist Tulio enough! Everyone at the Kookie are lovely, always looking to reassure you whilst being wonderful hosts in offering tea and coffee. Moreover, the organisation of the appointment was straightforward, with helpful reminder messages sent ahead of time. Tulio is a fantastic artist, having surpassed all of my expectations on the piece. He was friendly, supportive and reassuring whilst completing my first full day tattooing. Whether it is your first tattoo or your next, Kookie is absolutely the place to go!
