That being said what really stands out beyond the talent is the atmosphere of the shop itself. I love coming here. As cliche as it may sound this is a genuinely safe space where any anxiety I may have fades away and I feel genuinely welcomed and appreciated. Expérience négative: Don't book with Ro Curran. A complete nightmare of a tattoo artist. Charged me $150 for a deposit for a small tattoo, and now is refusing to book me for a tattoo, or refund me, after his own mistake double booking me. Just don't see him. Absolutely horrible experience. Edit: Huge change of tone when I spoke to the owner. They refunded me promptly and without issue. I super appreciate them. It doesn't change that this was a sour experience with this tattoo artist, but please still give the studio itself a chance.

I was directed towards Kylie, and said that my idea would be best suited to her, although I do still love the tattoo, I got this one three years ago, the lines were blown out after I got it, I had to go back because she blew out the lips, making my pin up look a though she had a Cold sore on her lip. It’s warm, welcoming, incredibly clean and they play really great music! Most importantly every single one of the artists is friendly, talented, skilled, and do really great work. Gwen did a sleeve for me and as you can see from the photo it is absolutely stunning. I get compliments from strangers whenever I have it out, stare at it all the time and can’t believe it’s actually my arm! She is phenomenally skilled and does incredible work - would you believe some of this sleeve is drawn freehand with a pen?! Wow! It was also an absolute pleasure to spend a significant amount of time with her. Gwen is also the shop owner and is very committed to providing a safe space for women and every single client who walks through the doors. All the artists are highly trained and take workshops to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. If you’re feeling nervous at all about getting your first tattoo or anything at all, be confident you are in the best hands here! I truly can’t recommend Painted Lotus enough!

The tattoo turned out a little sloppy which is disappointing. I would have happily paid more for a longer appointment and for more time to be taken if I knew more about how things would turn out but I guess since I'd never gotten a tattoo before I didn't know what to ask. I wish I could give their piercer Jean-Paul a separate review because he is great. 5 stars.

Expérience négative: Think twice before you give a deposit to Painted Lotus. Their deposit policy does a great job of protecting their artists, but does little to protect potential customers. I gave Ian a $500 deposit towards a large back piece. I met with him twice to discuss the tattoo and provided many reference pictures and a detailed desciption of what I wanted. Months later the tattoo that was presented to me looked nothing like what we had discussed. He refused to make any changes to the tattoo. I was left with the decision of either forfeiting my $500 deposit or getting a tattoo that was nothing like what I had asked for and meant nothing to me. We then agreed that I could put the $500 towards a different tattoo in his portfolio that he had already previously drawn up. He then recanted on that and insisted on keeping my deposit because I didnt want the original tattoo. In the end they agreed to return $100 to me so I only ended up spending $400 for absolutely nothing. Thanks for the great experience Painted Lotus!

JP is easily the best piercer in town and probably the province. He makes every piercing feel like a gift and takes his time to ensure perfection. Every single tattoo artist is talented and committed. They produce incredible pieces and are all very knowledgeable and experienced. Bubbles takes care of the front counter, she is the loveliest person you'll ever meet (but the rest of the gang are right up there with her). You will have a great experience here whether it's your first tattoo or your 500th. You get what you pay for, which is art!

When I got there I had my 2 children with me he was Really friendly and welcoming! He was so informative and explained to me what I needed to do for after care and even told me to come in if I wanted at anytime to have him check up on it or if I needed help changing my nose ring later on he would love to help free of charge.
