Experiencia fantástica: I have loved going to anchor tattoos. I have received 11 tattoos so far from the shop and can say it has been one of my favorite tattoo places to experience. Though my main tattoo artist has been Chase, I have had wonderful experiences with Ashley, Charles, and Justin (among a few other artists) as well. They function as a community where they help each other with placements, design, and hyping each other up. I love seeing the comraderie amongst them. Chase had been extremely accommodating and diligent when it comes to her tattoos. I can always count on her to come up with a tattoo and placement that makes me happy and best fits my needs/body. She is an incredible artist and I have trusted her time and time again to deliver a phenomenal product.

He let me take my time with the in person consult with size and placement of my tattoo. During my tattoo I felt very comfortable and he made sure to ask me if I needed breaks or anything. She nailed the design and made the application comfortable and easy. In the nearly two weeks since, it has healed phenomenally and the color has remained packed in. Really considerate when it came to the design and placement as well. A very fun and chill experience. It was my first color and shading experience and while tattoos are always going to hurt a little, Ashley made it a really great experience overall. Very considerate of needs and asking about how things were feeling and if we needed breaks. Super kind! Experiencia negativa: I was going to leave this be and not write a review until the owner (the tattoo artist I want to see) posted a picture of the sketch he’d done for me with a passive aggressive message on it on IG. My initial outreach to him went fine, and my initial consult went fine. He asked me to email over pictures of things I did and did not like, which I took quite a bit of time and thought putting together. When I came for my second consult today, he showed me a drawing (that was then posted on Instagram with the message) he had done before looking at my email, which was clear because my email specified that I did not want a number of things that were in the drawing, mainly, I did not want it realistic and it very much was. He pulled back up my email and I tried to re-explain what I wanted. I am not an artist or a creative person, but I felt the pictures I saw for inspiration could be compiled together to get what I was looking for. When he asked my thoughts on things and I gave my honest response, I was made to feel stupid. He talked down to me and eventually I had to say that I wanted to think about the appointment. I was extremely uncomfortable and fighting back tears as the subject matter for the piece holds a lot of meaning to me and I felt like a burden there when I was paying someone for their services. I had already put down an $80 deposit. I emailed expressing why I felt uncomfortable and received a reply that apologized yet stated he didn’t feel he had done anything wrong. He returned my deposit (which I did NOT ask for, I wanted him to be compensated for the consult time and drawing as I told him in shop), which I was grateful for. I was thrown off by some of the things that were said in the email that were strange but let it go until I saw the Instagram post, and was pretty upset with the lack of professionalism. I get that everyone’s artistic process is different and that people have bad days. I would’ve felt differently if he had taken accountability for the way he made a customer feel instead of using it as a reason to post passive aggressively and indulge in self-pity. It is clear that the artists feelings about himself are far more important than those of his customers. There were a number of times could’ve been rectified, but unfortunately, the owner time and time again handled them poorly. The owner knew I followed him on Instagram. I have an email from him stating that he realized that (that’s how I found him, showed him pictures of which of his pieces I like). If there was a misunderstanding, it wasn’t a result of my communication, and it would’ve been really rad to just see the owner take responsibility for that. This has been the most yucky and gaslight-y situation I have EVER been in with any type of merchant, service, etc.

Experiencia fantástica: Charles is the best. Line work is above insane. All of my work has been done by him. My sleeve gets me stopped all over the world by people wanting to marvel at his work.

The artists are very patient and professional, I really don’t understand why some people have complained about the artists or the shop because they’ve been amazing with me and my friend. If you’re looking for a really good spot to get a tattoo this is definitely the place to go.

I will continue to return due to the crew, atmosphere, and location. I’ve become good friends with many of the people there. Experiencia fantástica: I recently received a tattoo from Charles at anchor ink, though I do have a number of tattoos, there is not a lot of shops with the environment that anchor ink has built. While getting tattooed, I had many other artist come over to look at/ hype up the tattoo I was getting. They are all very friendly, and thrive to make it feel as at home as getting tattooed can. I will FOR SURE be coming back!!! Both tattoos were done by charles bogus Thanks Charles! And thank you to all the anchor crew!! You guys rule!

Experiencia negativa: Tried to go in to see if they could do a tattoo for me, but I drove all the way uptown twice and both times they were supposed to be open and door was lock times on door said they should be open. I also called both times and the answering machine said that they also should have been open, and I also left a message asking if someone would call me back. And as you could guess no response from them. I have asked afew of my friends about this place they have said they are not reliable, so if your thinking of going there good luck.

Experiencia negativa: My drawing wasn't what the artist wanted to use because of thin lines. After 30 minutes of correcting my tattoo asking if he wanted help and being told no. I managed to get marked with a wrong symbol and wasn't even offered an apology. Spent 200 on something I have to now have removed. I didn't care for a refund I just wanted an apology. Won't be back

Her fine line work is AMAZING and was exactly what I was looking for. I was traveling to SLC already and messaged her to see if she had any availability for when I was in town, I doubted it but I was surprised when she made some time for me with my short schedule!! Being out of state her communication was great! I gave her the idea of what I wanted and when I arrived I was so happy with what she drew up. There was one small adjustment I asked for, and she didn’t me feel like it was an inconvenience to change it. The atmosphere was welcoming, Antonella was super kind! She was on time, has the lightest hand and her artwork is beyond beautiful! She was friendly, funny, relatable and respected when I needed a break. I get so many compliments on my tattoo and I would definitely make a trip back from Az to SLC just for her work!!

I will go back to have him do some more work on me. **UPDATE ** When trying to reach Justin again about a month later, the staff kept telling me that he wasn't available. After 3 calls I gave up and just went to another tattoo shop to have more work done.

The shop was friendly and professional- great environment. I scheduled another tattoo with Antonella because I loved the others so much. She’s a great person and a really talented artist. Experiencia fantástica: Me and my sister really wanted a tattoo after waiting almost an hour at big deluxe without them telling us a word of update we decided to go somewhere new and because we waited so long at big deluxe I hatet to admit we went in a little bit later then we would have liked but Antonella still did my tattoo for me and it was quick and she was sweet! Definitely a hidden gem! Would definitely be back for another tattoo from them. Oh and my sister didn't get to have her tattoo cause she needed draw time and stuff but they listened to everything she wanted and she'll be going back to get that done! 10/10 would recommend.

Experiencia negativa: Casey O’Leary an artist there charged me $200 for a tattoo that took him not even an hour. One of my most basic simple tattoos. I can’t speak for the other artist but do not trust Casey on your skin.

The staff was extremely helpful as i didn't have a specific artist in mind and got me in contact with Mitch. Mitch listened to what I wanted and helped me make it far better with his expertise and delivered something that exceeded all my expectations for my first piece. I got a bear and though I knew it was a very difficult tattoo he got the fur, body, muscling, and pose perfect. He went through very detailed steps on aftercare since it was my first tattoo as well. The shop is extremely clean, everyone was super friendly, and I'd 100% recommend going here based on my experience.

Experiencia fantástica: I had an unorthodox request. I wanted art drawn for a book I wrote. The staff has been working with me in that aim. I also have many friends with contacts, past and present, at Anchor. All in all I like their service and approachability.

Experiencia negativa: Came in and got a consultation. They were very nice. But didn't answer the phone or respond to any of my emails asking to get put on the calendar like they had advised me to.

Experiencia fantástica: Clean shop, super friendly atmosphere and awesome artists. You can tell they all seem to have a good relationship with each other too because they have funny banter back and forth too! Definitely my favorite shop in Salt Lake.

Experiencia positiva: Came here with a friend to get a few smaller tattoos and was grateful to be accepted as walkups so close to closing time. Cole did my friends tattoo and he did an absolutely amazing job with detailing on such a small piece. He made her feel completely comfortable and she is in love with her new piece! I loved my piece as well (I apologize for forgetting the artists name) and was really grateful to be able to keep adding little bits here and there until I was completely satisfied! The only complaint we had was the pricing of our tattoos was the same when we had very different sized and detailed pieces, and we attributed that to the fact it wasn't discussed at all until after the tattoos were even finished - and it definitely should have been even before leaving the counter. Otherwise everything else was great- awesome atmosphere and talented artists!

Experiencia negativa: Got my first tattoo with Justus and definitely it’s now what I showed him. The tattoo looks bad done, the sword is not even straight and didn’t suppose to be black and I could be telling you some more details. They’re really such a cool guys, but now I’ll have to spend money and time to get this well done.
