Experiencia fantástica: EDIT: 11/28/25 Black Coffin has fixed what was a pretty bad experience, (see below) and covered up what I got with one of a kind artwork. Both Nik and Ivy were amazing, accommodating, and patient while we tried to figure out how to tackle this beast. It’s not even finished yet and I already love it! Will update one more time with photos once its all done. ————— I saw Leyla for a tattoo on May 2nd. My experience was less than stellar. It started with my consultation on April 17th, which she was late for by about an hour. She had then said that she’d have progress of designs in a few days to a week for me so we could collaborate ideas. None came. None came until April 30th. Two days before. At that point, I was incredibly anxious about getting something tattooed on me that I hadn’t even seen yet. At first, the design looked good, and I was excited. My anxiety was quelled. The appointment was Friday and I showed up. We got started, and when I asked about pricing right away, she said, “oh, it’ll be between 800 and 1200.” That’s a big difference. Especially just for an outline. I was thinking she was just estimating high and it would be around the 800 mark. But the appointment went on, and she was very slow. Going over lines that she’d gone over multiple times, and still, some of them aren’t solid, and the thickness varies. Once we’re done with the appointment, I’m surprised with the amount of work I had done for what I paid. 1200 for just an outline. And the real kicker is that recently, I was looking up cybersigilism/neotribal designs for another project of mine, and I saw carbon copies of pieces of my tattoo. From places like Inkbox. I understand using Pinterest and photos from other artists for reference, but if I wanted an Inkbox tattoo, I would have just gone somewhere and done a walk in. Now I have a tattoo on my body that’s not even original art work, that I feel I overpaid for. This piece should have been fully rendered/shaded for 1200. Circled in the photo of my tattoo is what was ripped off of the internet verbatim. There could be more, this is just what I found. I tried to reach out to Leyla a month ago to schedule a touch up, since I told her I would be able to make it in a month later due to my own scheduling conflicts. I haven’t heard back. I’m very disappointed, and each day, I resent this piece more. I’d like to get it redone or covered.

She took her time making sure she had perfect placement before piercing and she talked me through her whole process. I would absolutely recommend getting a piercing here!

Experiencia fantástica: I got both of earlobes pierced here recently- my first piercings. I was nervous and had multiple questions. Mara was very communicative, knowledgeable, and, overall, extremely kind and personable. We talked about the jewelry, and she had some great suggestions and insights based on what I was saying. I have a fear of needles. She showed sensitivity to that and her skill; it was quick and nearly painless without sacrificing care. She explained everything she was doing, gave very thorough advice, and answered every question fully. Getting pierced here may have cost me more than other places, but it was well worth it in my opinion.

Experiencia fantástica: Exceptional!! I’ve been many places to get pierced, and this by far had the most attentive staff. I felt welcomed and my whole process was very well done. I did a walk in on a random Wednesday and I got pierced by Sarah. Two lobes and replaced a conch. Sarah and the team were very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend. They take their time and make sure you’re very informed. I will only be going here for future needs.

Experiencia fantástica: I got my very first tattoo yesterday (Saturday 07/26/2025) at Black Coffin Tattoo. My overall experience was first class. I checked out several other places, but the moment I walked through the door at Black Coffin I knew that this was the place where I wanted to get my first tattoo. I was greeted by staff who were professional, attentive, and enthusiastic about me getting my first tattoo. My tattoo artist Michelle (@nashxthrash.tattoos) was AMAZING. From initial consult, to answering my questions, to being flexible with scheduling, to design, to applying the tattoo itself, Michelle’s attention to detail and customer service exceeded my expectations. I definitely recommend Black Coffin and Michelle if you’re considering getting any tattoo work done and I plan on going back there for my next tattoo.

Leyla did mine, and two of my friend’s tattoos- all of us are very happy with the work she did. I also came to this shop a few years ago with friends to get nose piercings which was a really good experience as well.

I love getting tattooed by Michelle because her work is phenomenal and always so clean which is everything I could ever ask for! Experiencia fantástica: EDIT** Someone got in touch with me we emailed about it and they got me in to completely fix this with an artist named Nik and he did absolutely amazing and exceeded my expectations and talked thorough his ideas with me and we got started it turned out amazing so far and more cohesive and looks done I really appreciate the shop reaching out and helping me fix this appropriately! I appreciate Nik fixing this and the shop!! I inquired about a tattoo and an artist got back to me so I decided to go and get one from the shop. Her online book of tattoos she’s done looked amazing so I thought I’d be safe to get one. I got one from her it was like 3.5 to 4 hours towards the end got a little painful it’s a tattoo obviously however it was scratched up, no color stayed in my skin the black looks like it’s faded to be years old even though I got it two months ago almost. The tattoo scabbed over so bad I almost went in to the doctors because I thought it was infected it’s how bad it looked. I am covered neck to foot in tattoos I know how to take care of them. When I emailed her to let her know what happened and cancel my touch up appointment because that was as a rough healing process she offered to give me another tattoo palm sized for the issues……if I have this issue after one tattoo I don’t want yet another one. Im just a little disappointed I spent $375 to have a tattoo that looks half done sort off with lines that are throwing a different artist off and now have to get it technically completely redone for another $400 because the new artist couldn’t tell it was done in one sitting and help make it pop with vibrancy like I wanted. Not to throw hate or anything just do your research on each artist and look at techniques more closely than I did.

Her space is super clean and has a really cool gothic vibe, with tons of art and little things to check out while you’re there. She does amazing black and grey work and always makes sure you’re completely happy with the stencil before she starts. Michelle’s also great about making sure you’re comfortable the whole time, and she’ll play whatever music or TV show you want, which makes it way more chill. Can’t recommend her enough!

Not only was the vibe extraordinary, playing Y2K hits and laughing throughout the appointment with other artists there; Michelle was extremely patient, guided me through every step, was cognizant of needing breaks because I dove back in with a bit of a larger piece, she was constantly cleaning her tools and making sure her set up was comfortable. She left me with a beautiful piece full of dark whimsy and creativity. Took all the components of my mind and turned it into something WAY better than I could have hoped for! I was super nervous getting the front of my neck/throat tattooed, but she was wonderful at being gentle, precise, and keeping the pain a dull-roar. Experiencia negativa: I had a very disappointing appointment with Leyla. I had a specific design in mind and after confirming an appointment sent her many reference images as well as specific sizing and placement parameters. She told me she would whip up some rough designs and send them back my way (with a notice that she would not make any alterations to the design after 24 hours before the appointment). I never received this even after reaching out. Once I arrived at the appointment we spent an hour talking about the design that she finally showed me at the appointment. While I liked it, it was not what I had tried to communicate, it was much bigger and spread out than I was planning, and tried to mention that but was shut down. I also tried to comment on the placement of the tattoo but was again shut down. The appointment went an hour and a half longer than she told me and she said I should come in for a touch up in about a month since she wasn't able to complete all the shading and highlights in one sitting, which makes sense. We scheduled for a month out. I also live an hour and a half away so coming in is not just running errands. The day of the appointment she texted me that she was canceling the appointment since she got her eyelids tattooed that day and could not see well. Terrible scheduling aside, I asked her when I could come in, to which she said she would have to check her calendar. After about a week of no response I asked again and received the same message. It has since been a month and she has yet to get back to me. I would not return to this tattoo shop or recommend getting tattooed there.

Experiencia negativa: I would not recommend for anyone with black/indigenous ancestry they are actually tapped into. Surprise right? I went in for a dermal third eye piercing. After being examined by Mara I was told I for sure couldn’t do it because it would reject. I then said I would like a second of some variety (I want a million different piercings) and was told the same thing again. Again by Mara… She then sold me on getting guages done. I spent $200 on this service that lasted maybe a week. They fell out when I didn’t notice and got lost. My intuition was telling me something was off and I wasn’t truly welcome there. I am a professional shaman. I am Palestinian and black. My body is not the way it is always perceived, and I have learned this over the years. She then told me I would have to buy new jewelry. I spent the last of my spending money before I quit my job of 4 years for being harassed. This is the “nail in the coffin” so to speak. If you are not white! They will not treat you right!b Peace and love family. Be safe! Update: (response to owner) Fortunately for me, it is not my job to educate you on the mechanisms of white body supremacy. My explanation of how my body feels, as well as the reaction my body had to your store practices was adequate. Unfortunately for me, greedy people don’t give money back, because they know off the bat, that they are doing something wrong. You guys need to turn people away, in my opinion, if you are unable to work on a spiritual level aside from the money. I may have seemed unassuming, but when you are marking my body, that is a religious experience for me. I live this all day, every day. My people are at war right now, literally. It is not only about commerce. I don’t judge, but I don’t stand for injustice. $200 is a lot of money, and white body supremacy is real. When it comes to Jewish people (like myself) the issue is not that you are thinking derogatory thoughts about me. I never shared my religion. Although I was seeking a 3rd eye piercing and the conversations I had with Mara were pretty telling. This is supposed to be a religious transcendent experience. It is the simple fact your practice is ineffective for me and my culture. Despite your opinions on the matter. Do better. P.S. This is in no way a condemnation or assault on you and your practices. It is healthier to use I statements when addressing these matters of the heart and mind.

I gave her my design for my tattoo sleeve and she executed it perfectly (she made a few tweaks on the design for better readability and I really appreciate it!) She's amazing at color and I would definitely go back if I had more money. She's very nice/accommodating during our tattoo session and she also responds to dms fast. I would highly recommend her!

Experiencia negativa: i’ve had great experiences with the tattoo artists but the piercing team is almost reprehensible. i purchased 2 nose rings (around $300) with lifetime warranty and one of them broke. with the old piercing team, i got it replaced with no issues. now, apparently they no longer work with this brand. over the course of 2 months, i had to call several times to figure out where we are in the process of getting this resolved. never got past “we sent them an email”. i called again last week for another update (imo it’s extremely unprofessional to not contact the customer yourself for 2 months) and they told me the best they can do is sell me a new piece for 60% off, all i had to do was fill out an email form. gave her my email, here we are 1-2 weeks later and no email received. honestly deplorable look for the owner. never returning :)

Her attention to detail is amazing, the lines are super clean, crisp, and exactly what I envisioned. She made me feel comfortable from start to finish, took her time to make sure everything was perfect, and brought such good energy to the session. Highly recommend :)

Experiencia fantástica: Mara was absolutely wonderful from the get go. I had called a couple weeks prior to my nostril piercings for some price quotes and information on what her piercing process is like. I loved that she was honest and very thorough with me and answered all of my questions down to a T. When I came in yesterday for my double nostrils, Mara took me back as soon as she was able to (I had one client ahead of me) and the wait wasn't long at all. After I had gone through all of my paperwork, Mara again was very reassuring and thorough about the way she pierces and she gained my trust pretty quickly by her compassion alone as this was my first time being pierced by someone outside of my regular piercer as I was originally anxious about being pierced by someone different. Mara was quick to ease my anxiety and that alone was huge for me. During the piercing process too I really liked how chatty and informative she was, I feel like we got along really well and I felt very comfortable. Granted these were not my first piercings, I would absolutely recommend her to anyone especially if you're new to piercings and looking to get your first sparkly piece. I'm normally pretty anxious with needles and Mara will talk you right through everything so that you actually know what's going on. 10/10. I will definitely be going back to her for future piercings, hands down one of the best experiences I've had with body modification.

I got my second ear piercings and the girl who did them (Sarah) was fantastic, made the whole process very comfortable for me and my mom, who got her nose pierced too. All in all great service and a great price for what we got. I spent less than 200$ on my ear piercings.

She was able to tell me the exact sizing of my piercing when taking a quick look, which in my opinion shows how experienced she is. She was meticulous with her sterile technique and my friend, who is a nurse, was impressed, which again shows Sarah’s experience and professionalism. And the venue itself was great, plenty to look at while waiting. The earring display was also gorgeous and they had diverse options. Highly recommend and hope to come see her at Black Coffin Tattoo again!

Experiencia negativa: It says the eyebrow piercing is $40 without jewelry, after checking out (luckly before the piercing) it went to $116 after the jewelry. I asked on the phone before the piercing and they said around $70 including jewelry and then I was told that after I got there. Extreme overcharge on jewelry for my eyebrow and for my friends vertical labret. Don’t go here unless you have your own jewelry.

Experiencia fantástica: Took my daughter here to get her ears pierced during a Friday the 13th promo. We were greeted immediately, and made to feel welcome. If youve ever been to a tattoo shop on Friday the 13th, you know it can get a little crazy. It was surprisingly calm and well-managed. Lana at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. Sarah the piercer took time to answer some questions and help us make the right choice in jewelry. At first, they weren't sure they could fit us in (we got there later than I'd hoped) but Sarah said she could do it right at the end of the night. I cannot say enough good things about Sarah. My daughter can get quite anxious, and while she was excited to get her ears pierced, she was pretty nervous when the time came. Sarah was kind and gentle, and talked her through the process. Sarah was calm and didn't rush her at all. In the end, it was certainly more expensive than a mall piercer, but it was an amazing experience. I'd go back there for piercings or tattoos in a heartbeat.

Experiencia fantástica: I came in for Mara’s Black Tuesday walk in event and had a great time! I came in at about 4pm not expecting to be seen instantly considering that the event started at noon, but the staff were exceptionally kind and offered snacks and water. I was prepared to hunker down in a corner and do some work while waiting, but Mara came out and said they could see me early! We talked about the piercings I wanted (triple helix) and they said one of the helixes I wanted wouldn’t be anatomically possible because of my glasses which was so true. We changed that one to a forward helix and got to stabbing. My entire experience was wonderful, Mara was very kind and funny though I’m still dubious about their opinions on British food… They made me feel incredibly welcome. Personally I feel like they gave me an A+ in getting pierced, something that is definitely possible and normal to want. TBD on the healing process and actual piercing but quite frankly my entire ear could fall off and I’d still thank Mara. 1000/10 would come again. Looking forward to coming back for downsizing!

Experiencia negativa: Around some time this past winter, I had a piercing emergency and was desperate for a fix. A ball had fallen off the end of a nipple bar and was entirely lost. My usual piercer was closed the following day and unable to get to the shop for the emergency- and I, naively, believed this to be a good place to go in that type of emergency. I do place partial blame on myself for not checking online for APP certification. They replaced both with short bars- recently learned they are too short for what my anatomy needs, and the ball ends too small for my anatomy as well. After a recent visit to my regular piercer, I was informed they were migrating due to these jewelery mistakes. I'm not livid about the migration of the piercings, more so just upset to have placed this trust with my body at the will of someone who may not have had my best interest in mind.

Experiencia fantástica: I just wanted to give a huge shout out to Black Coffin’s piercing team. I was pierced by Sarah, and Mara came in on her off day to help mentor because I have not your typical anatomy for a philtrum piercing. It was really cool seeing the two work together, and seeing how excited both of them were that Sarah kicked ass. Black Coffin’s new piercers are both so enjoyable to be around, and I will be back! Thank you both for the care and time you took to flawlessly execute a piercing I have been turned down for in the past. I love it ♥️♥️♥️ Oh, and the shop manager is a cool guy, and has the best recommendations for horror books if you’re into that!

Experiencia negativa: The shop is neat. The artists are nice. However, the work that I got done, is horrible. I came in for a pretty simple design. My husband and I got matching tattoos, that don't match at all. I specifically asked for my tattoo to be full color. It's not. I asked for specific colors which were not used. Colors outside of the outline. Thick and thin lines. Blowouts. We then went back in for a touch up. The same colors were not used the first time, so what was touched up, is mismatched in color. I also then discovered more places where he, again, colored outside of the outline. The artist seemed highly offended when I brought this up. Blamed it on my skin. Mind you, I'm covered in tattoos. If you're looking for quick, overpriced work, that you will be paying another shop to fix, this is the place to go. If you're looking for quality work, go elsewhere. His excuse was the UV ink, which was barely used in my tattoo, and the fact that he has a disability. If your disability effects your ability to do quality tattoos, then you simply shouldn't be tattooing. **Will post updated pictures after its healed.. I will also post a picture where the uv was used directly**

Experiencia negativa: Showed up here for a consultation. Waited for 30 minutes after being seated. And when we attempted to tell them were going to leave. No one approached the cashier area. Customer service is not great here. Probably call in advance if someone will be on time for appointments.

Asked us to give them a call in the morning to double check availability. They were able to get us all in at the same time with different artists, which was awesome. Ivy did great work for me as the minimalist line work is something she does and enjoys. It showed! The tattoo was clean and exactly what I wanted. Jake did my partner’s tattoo and it was also clean. Great experience and would definitely recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: Out of all the tattoo shops I’ve been to over the years, coast to coast and everywhere in between, Black Coffin has been the best experience ever. From the time I called in to the time I walked out, every single interaction was overwhelmingly positive— the artists were all super-friendly (to me, to other clients, to each other, to people on the phone and in the waiting area) and they all seemed genuinely happy to be there and supportive of each other’s work, which is definitely not always the case. There was so much to look at in the shop, and the tattoo area was scrupulously clean. But it could be a trash heap run by a bunch of cave trolls and I’d be lining up to have Leyla work on me again. She said she favors heavy blackwork but the piece she did on my wrist (Lorna Shore’s sigil) was tiny, meticulous, detailed, and by far the cleanest, clearest linework I have. She was unbelievably thorough, careful, super-gentle, and quick, and while her pricing was quite modest, I’d gladly have paid double. I’ll be returning to Leyla for sure and based on other reviews, my experience seems to be the case for pretty much everyone’s experience with every artist there. Well done, Black Coffin, you know how to do it right. Leyla, your work is beautiful— thank you so much! Edit 1/2/2024: I’ve been meaning to do this for two months now but Leyla’s got some competition from Nik as favorite artist ever. He did a rework of multiple unsatisfactory reworks and needless to say, this is the last. I’m beyond thrilled. Have to say, I was a little nervous initially since all he did was stand back in his miner’s headlamp surveying the damage before making a few cursory Sharpie lines and then diving right in, but I needn’t have worried. Nik is a master. His lines are clean and precise, his shading is spot-on realistic, and he redesigned the whole thing so the focal point is the twisted tree (which somehow three previous artists were unable to do). Additionally, he kept going basically nonstop til the piece was finished, kept up a pleasant, engaging conversation the entire time, and moreover showed himself to be a fantastic and patient teacher/mentor- I’d actually reached out to Leyla first but she referred me to Nik since he’s done reworks before (which, the fact that she wanted me to be happy with the tattoo even if it meant passing on a client she wasn’t 100% sure she could “fix” made me appreciate her even more!) and he let her watch, learn, and practice as he explained his procedures and tips/techniques. In short, Nik and Leyla are absolutely phenomenal artists, both individually and working in tandem, and I cannot thank nor recommend them highly enough. Happy New Year, you guys, you’re freaking amazing and I can’t wait to get back in there for another round!

Experiencia fantástica: Went and got tattooed today by Ivy. She is very detail oriented and made sure that the design she made fit the style of tattoo I wanted and even suggested a few cool changes to it. This was only my second tattoo so I don't have a lot of experience with tattoos or tattoo artists but she made me feel comfortable and accommodated when I needed breaks (I don't sit still very well lol). The end result was absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to see what it looks like healed! Thank you again, I plan to be back very soon :)

Experiencia fantástica: Called ahead for a walk in inquiry. Was able to get my first tattoos with Ryan. I brought in prints of my dog's paw and nose, we talked through placements and got them done. Great first experience. Ryan did an amazing job and made me feel comfortable the entire time. He checked in, often to make sure I was doing ok, throughout. Didn't get a good picture of the 2nd print before putting the dressing on (Will update later). I will definitely come back for more in the future. THANK YOU!

Experiencia negativa: I had my nose pierced a year ago by a girl who isnt there anymore. She was very nice & patient while i was picking where i wanted the piercing. After a week of having the stud, it unscrewed and i lost it, but she let me come back and replaced it for free, which was really nice. I waited the recommended amount of time to come back and have it switched to a hoop which was my end goal with the piercing. She didnt work there anymore at this point and a guy was switching it out which was fine. after putting it in i immediately expressed to him that the ring felt small/tight. He didnt agree. I could feel the tugging on my nostril. I tried to convince myself it wasnt. I went back out to my car, looked closer, and it definitely felt tight. I went back in, and he said they only offered one size of nose rings (??). I told him how it felt tight and it was tugging and he said it looked fine, and because i could "still spin it" it was okay. So I again tried to convince myself it was okay, because he said so and maybe id get used to it. Fast forward months and ive had numerous infections, and it migrated from the spot it was originally pierced because of how small the ring was. I should have went back and had it switched out for the stud again, but I tried to tough it out thinking it was me. I eventually switched it back to the stud and any swelling and inflammation went away. It felt great, but it definitely moved from the spot that it was originally pierced in which is really really disappointing. Not everyones nose is the same shape/size, and i really wish id trusted my gut and just had him switch it back to the stud and gone elsewhere for the ring (as i found out other piercing shops offer multiple sizes and even measure for it). I guess im just disappointed I spent money on something I wanted for a long time only for it to be a waste, and now i'll have to wait for it to heal before getting it repierced.

I didn’t realize they could anodize titanium pieces so as a gold guy who has to have titanium jewelry, this changed my life!! They have such a variety of artists as well for any style imaginable!! My tattoo artist was Jake, who was super helpful and managed to take the impractical reference image I provided and turned it into something workable. He did an amazing job, especially with blending the colors. 10/10, would recommend and will be returning!

Experiencia fantástica: Marz! Awesome piercer! Went in yesterday feeling pretty random, walked out with a tragus piercing and a new Monroe stud. First of all, this shop in general is awesome. It essentially doubles as a wicked cool oddities museum. Besides that, the service is OUTSTANDING. I used to go to Saint Sabrina's when they were still around and this place blows them out of the water. Now, on to Marz! I have never had a more knowledgeable or patient piercer. The fact that she listened to me hiiim and haaa for what felt like forever is not something you're going to find in many places. The piercing itself went SO well. It feels like it's basically healed already. She walked me through each step of the way. she called out each move she was making as she was doing them so that I stayed comfortable, that takes skill. All while delivering me a perfect placed piercing. She also set me up with a new Monroe stud. I had been wearing the wrong size for years and I'm now finally comfortable and like my jewelry. Highly recommend Marz! I also had the pleasure of meeting one of the tattoo artists, Garrett. Super cool guy. My friend got a tattoo yesterday and it turned incredible. Seriously, check this guys work out. I've never seen someone be able to make a Raven look more lifelike than the actual bird, like whaaaat. Wish I grabbed the receptionist guys name too cause he was SO friendly and accommodating. I'll be back! Thank you!

Experiencia positiva: We selected this business as they were able to make an appointment. Was pleased with the high level of experience and skill of the staff. However, they used iPads for filling in the Wavier Forms - and one iPad allowed you to get 90% of the form done, then it would freeze up. Finding a parking spot was a bit tricky. Also, the cost was surprisingly steep. Over 300 dollars (including a 15% tip), for two teenagers to get their 2nd holes pierced in their ears. Minus 2 stars for the pricing.
