Experiencia fantástica: My piercer Clinton was so incredibly kind and walked me through the entire piercing process, and gave me a rundown on the healing process as well. He went above and beyond my expectations and I will definitely pierce with them again! Tatí at the front desk was also so sweet and friendly and helped me pick out the perfect jewelry for my ear and stack. I had such a great and comfortable experience at Lucky’s and I will definitely come back in the future!!

Experiencia negativa: My initial experience was great, however, my recent experience was extremely disappointing. I called around 8:20 PM to inquire about getting a replacement nose ring because the one I previously purchased had broken. I was told the store closed at 9:00 PM but that if I arrived any later than 8:45 PM, they would not be able to assist me. I arrived exactly at 8:45 PM, only to find the doors already locked. After knocking, someone hesitantly let me in. The service felt rushed, and the staff appeared visibly annoyed. I explained that I needed a full nose ring replacement, not just the gauge that had already been set aside for me. I was charged $50 for a small nose ring and sent on my way. When I got home, I realized the nose ring stud was not compatible with the gauge. I called the next day and was told a supervisor would be informed and that I would receive a call back. I never did. I called several more times over the next few weeks, leaving my phone number each time. On one call, they even looked up my receipt using my phone number, confirming my purchase. It has now been a month, I have received no follow-up, my piercing has since closed, and I am out $50.

Experiencia fantástica: I went to Lucky's to get another opinion on a piercing I had recently received. During that visit I saw Mimi who let me know if I was not happy with the piercing, they can redo it and walked me through their process to correct what I didn't like. I decided to take the piercing out and give it another shot. After 8 weeks healing I went back to Mimi and they were great! I was nervous and we just chatted about movies to help calm and distract me. They were great about taking the time I needed and making sure I knew what was going on every step of the way. If you're going to Lucky's and in need of an piercing, Mimi is your person!

Experiencia negativa: I want to be upfront and say that I have no problem with The apprentice who pierced me, the person coaching her, or healing the piercing I received. It was clear she was learning, but everything was very clean and professional, and I would trust her to pierce me again. I have been pierced at the Lucky's in NoHo no fewer than 9 times. However I have had to take out all of my piercings for various medical reasons in the past and I am now able to put them back in. I made an appointment at Lucky's after walking in off the street and speaking to the very helpful people behind the desk about my options. The employees behind the desk were extremely friendly and helpful, they took it down the details of my appointment including my request for a jewelry change for my nose. I saw her put these notes in the computer. When I came back the next day for my appointment, I called to let them know that I would likely be running about 5 minutes late because parking was more difficult than I anticipated. Immediately the girl on the phone asked me how long I think I would take, and let me know that if I was more than 10 minutes late they would just cancel my appointment and keep my deposit. I arrived 3 minutes past my appointment time, and I was met with attitude from the person behind the desk, including asking me to fill out the waiver form as quickly as possible because they were so booked (at that time I was literally the only non-employee in the lobby / waiting room). Despite having watched the employee from the day prior put my information into the computer, she did not seem to know what I was there for, and she completely neglected to include the jewelry change in my service. I filled out the form, taking special care to ask whether or not I was going to be pierced by an apprentice or a licensed piercer. I had seen that Ash was The apprentice listed on the website and also my piercer. I was told I would be pierced by a licensed professional. Cool, I thought, Ash must have gotten licensed and isn't an apprentice anymore and they failed to update the website. There is literally a question on their waiver asking you to confirm that you were told who was piercing you and whether or not they were licensed. They did not tell me, I asked. Ash was very clearly an apprentice. They were being supervised by a different employee, and we're very upfront about how they hadn't done the particular piercing I was there for before. They did an amazing job and my negative review has nothing to do with them. When I was through with my piercing and approached the counter to pay the remaining fee, the same employee, with bangs and long black hair as far as I remember, asked if I had any questions and I asked about The apprentice situation. I thought it was extremely weird and underhanded that they would lie to me about being pierced by a licensed professional when I could see it was clearly an apprentice who was listed as an apprentice on the website. She immediately became very visibly nervous, switched to complimenting the way my piercing looked, and stumbled over her words attempting to explain how since technically there was a license piercer in the room, that's what she meant. I was so disappointed that my experience at Boston Lucky's was a complete 180 from the NoHo Lucky's I know. It's literally a tattoo and piercing studio, and they have almost no art on the walls which is very telling. The culture in body modification spaces where employees attempt to intimidate customers is so so tired. Tldr: 1) was rushed and told my appointment would be canceled if I arrived more than 10 minutes late, arrived 3 minutes late and waited 20 minutes in the waiting room 2) I specifically asked if I was being pierced by an apprentice and they told me no, but I was definitely being pierced by an apprentice. The apprentice did a good job but the girl at the front desk was judgy and shady. Unfortunately, I'm definitely not coming back to this location. I shouldn't be talked down too for being 3 minutes late or lied to.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great time getting my lobes pierced for the second time here! Ash, my piercer, was so nice and attentive during my piercing and the piercing was so quick and painless! The people behind the counter were also very friendly and helpful in picking out my jewelry and in checking me out.

Experiencia fantástica: Went here for a septum. I was nervous cause some reviews said the people are mean. Everyone was quite nice! Checking in and picking jewelry took maybe a minute max. My piercer Clinton was very nice and talked me through everything. Very professional, clean, and friendly.

Experiencia negativa: I interacted with 2 people at Lucky and the experiences were night and day. The piercer who changed out my nose piercing was kind and friendly and welcoming. The individual who was at the jewelry counter was flat out mean. They couldn't have been less pleased by my appearance in the store. I don't understand what happened unless they were being ageist and not inclusive because I didn't look like them. I walked in to get a new nose stud, as mine had flown off that morning. The individual discouraged me at every turn. They seemed offended that I was there. I asked about the price of a particular piece 3 times before they shared it with me. Had I not needed a piece that day, I likely would've spent my $100+ elsewhere. I definitely wouldn't recommend this shop even though the piercer was great, because you have to go through the unkind, uninterested gatekeeper to get there.

Experiencia negativa: I came in with my wife who needed a new stud for her nose. From the second we walked in the woman behind the counter treated my wife rudely. For some reason she pretty much did everything she could to try and dissuade my wife from purchasing something, implied that she wouldn't be able to have someone put it in for her and in general treated us as if we were putting her out in some way. My wife had to ask for a price 3 times before she was given one. Of course my wife ended up being helped to put the stud in right way by someone who was nice and strangely available immediately. Lest you assume otherwise, we are normal middle aged people and my wife couldn't be more kind. For a place that touts its inclusivity, we certainly didn't feel that from the woman who "helped" us.

Experiencia fantástica: I have gotten most of my piercings at Lucky’s including my daith, helix, and conch (though some have been removed due to surgeries!) and every single experience has been amazing. It can be a little pricey, but the quality of the jewelry makes it completely worth it. The piercers are always attentive, kind, and calming, and they take the time to explain everything so you feel comfortable and informed. The atmosphere is professional and safe, and you can tell that everyone truly cares about both the art and the people who come in. I highly recommend Lucky’s if you are looking for a place you can fully trust for piercings!!

Experiencia negativa: I've had to come here to pick up facial jewelry in a pinch and have never had a positive experience. The counter employees are very condescending and unfriendly; when I've happened to come in with very simple incorrect or incomplete information, they are quick to correct me with an attitude, and not interested in helping me actually get the product I need-- it feels like they just want you out of the store. In a specialty shop of any kind, expecting the average customer to be able to bark out the specifics of what they're looking for without any clarification needed is frankly detached from reality. Being brusque and treating a layperson like they're stupid for needing a little help is a great way to lose business. Two stars for good stock and location-- I can't speak to the quality of their piercings or tattoos either.

Experiencia positiva: I went in for a walk in piercing for my conch and helix at once. I was able to squeeze a quick appointment with Lars, who was absolutely amazing and made me feel extremely comfortable throughout the whole process! The piercings were quick and a lot of attention was paid to make sure it was clean. I was also able to get a quick consultation for other piercings which was very informative. I will say they are on the pricier side, and I paid $170 before tip for the two piercings and most basic jewelry. But I definitely recommend booking if you're able to, and Lars was great!

Experiencia positiva: Lucky's Tattoo Studio is a long standing Tattoo and Piercing Parlor located in Cambridge. The staff are friendly and walk you through the process quickly and efficiently. They are also very knowledgeable about the piercings and can help with many different types of piercings. We got a piercing replacement here, and they were very kind about it, taking into account potential healing and making sure we weren't hurt throughout the entire process.

Experiencia negativa: I called to inquire about multiple piercings. I was told what to schedule online. I did so, but when I arrived they apparently had a different process and were not able to accommodate my scheduled appointment. They were unwilling to correct their error as apparently they are fully booked at times I am available, and they elected to keep my deposit despite the error being theirs. Beyond the scheduling and communication errors, the front desk person repeatedly insisted I was only there for a jewelry change, even though I had booked a piercing appointment. I later realized that I was likely being judged based on my existing titanium jewelry (which I’ve worn for decades), which is an unprofessional and unacceptable assumption. The unwillingness to correct mistakes or take accountability is a huge red flag. If a studio can’t handle basic scheduling, communication, or customer service, I have serious concerns about their experience and professionalism when it comes to piercings themselves. Edited 8/22/25 to add: The day after my original appointment, I received an automated text confirming a new appointment that I didn't schedule (which was 4 hours after the text). When I called to ask for clarification, the studio manager admitted they scheduled me "in case you changed your mind" despite me explicitly saying both that I was unavailable at that time and that I'd be seeking the service elsewhere. While on the phone, I was repeatedly interrupted and never got an explanation why this was done without my consent. They offered to refund my deposit, but unsurprisingly, no refund has actually been issued. Bottom line: Poor communication, lack of professionalism, and shady business practices. I strongly recommend seeking out a more experienced and reputable studio.

Experiencia fantástica: Ash pierced my doubles and triples, and they were an amazing piercer. They took the time to re-pierce one of my triples, when I felt it didn't line up. She was professional, friendly, and listened to my concerns! I could not recommend Ash or Lucky's more.

Experiencia negativa: I've tried Lucky's a few times, because people rave about it. I've never had a piercing there be successful on the first, or even second try. The first piercing I got was septum, which was pierced incorrectly and they had to take it out and do it again. Then I got it replaced, and they were out of the jewelry I paid for (which they mostly only offer white gold, which is SO much more expensive than any other studio I've been to), and pierced me with a cheaper metal. The option to keep the cheaper metal wasn't given, and I had to go back two more times before they had it in stock. I've gotten two other ear piercings there, and they've never gotten the gauge/size right, which is concerning to me. Haven't had any issues with the 10+ other piercings from other studios.

Experiencia negativa: I went to Lucky’s about 3 years ago to get two helix piercings. At the time, I chose them because of their APP certification, assuming it guaranteed a higher standard. However, after years of dealing with issues and speaking with other professional piercers, I’ve come to realize that the service I received at Lucky’s fell short in several ways. The two helix piercings I got were placed side by side but were done at noticeably different angles. A reputable studio I’ve since visited confirmed they were pierced using two entirely different techniques or “philosophies” — something that should never happen with matching piercings. When I returned to Lucky’s to get a hoop installed in one of the piercings, the experience unfortunately got worse. An apprentice was assigned to install it, but ended up breaking the first hoop, and the supervising piercer had to step in. My ear was left feeling sore and uncomfortable. I had specifically asked for a dainty gold hoop, but the jewelry I was given was both a thicker gauge and significantly larger than I wanted. Other studios I’ve spoken to since have questioned why that size was ever chosen. I’ve now spent hundreds of dollars at Lucky’s, only to be in a position where I need to remove one of the helix piercings entirely so it can heal and be re-pierced at the correct angle for it to receive the jewelry I expressed wanting to begin with. It’s frustrating and disappointing, especially when you expect top-tier service from a highly rated piercing studio in the city. To add to the frustration, the front-of-house staff made me feel rushed throughout my visits. When you’re spending a considerable amount of money on something permanent and personal like body jewelry, it’s not too much to ask for patience, grace, and time to make informed decisions. In the end, I left feeling unheard, unsupported, and ultimately let down. Cleanliness may have been up to standard, but the service and attentiveness just weren’t.

Experiencia negativa: This was my second visit, and I’m honestly not sure how I feel. My first experience with Lars was amazing, which is why I decided to come back. This time, I had an appointment with Heather for a hidden helix. The experience felt rushed—I wasn’t even given time to complete the breathing exercise before the piercing. I ended up bleeding heavily, and it didn’t seem to concern anyone. As I was checking out, I could feel blood dripping down my ear, onto my neck, and pooling in my hair. Despite this, I was just handed some sterile gauze and sent on my way, as the store was busy and nearing closing time. I had to rush to CVS afterward to buy saline and other supplies to properly clean and care for the piercing. I really don’t think the situation was handled with the care or professionalism it deserved.

Experiencia fantástica: Got my ears pierced for the first time here. The location is very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They answered any questions I had about piercings and aftercare and helped me pick jewelry I liked. I even had an issue the next day, and they were able to assist me over the phone and offered advice along with an invitation to come back in if I had any more issues. LGBTQ+ friendly—they make sure to ask your pronouns right away!

Experiencia fantástica: I had such an awesome experience here. The other piercings that I have were done elsewhere (different state) in a much more "slapdash" manner. This was the total opposite experience. The shop is wonderfully clean and in a great location. It felt super welcoming and bright and very professional. Everyone I spoke with was really polite and kind and I felt really well taken care of. I want to throw a special shout out to my piercing artist, Lars. They were AWESOME. So personable, so kind, constant check ins to make sure I was doing okay. I've never had such a positive and professional experience getting pierced. I had a little bit of sticker shock but that's because I was used to the very meh process from previous studios. The price was super reasonable here given the quality of service and the jewelry I got. Thanks everyone for making my experience so great! Will definitely be back! I tried out Lucky's because they were the only local place that offered the "smilie" piercing, but the experience was so good that I will be getting all my piercing needs taken care of here from now on. Coming in, it seems like you're in a posh jewelry store. All the employees are friendly, and filling out the forms is easy. They are thoughtful of what you prefer to be called, and it's a warm and welcoming place from the beginning of your visit to when you walk out the door. The rest of the space has generously sized private rooms where you can get your new jewelry put in with complete privacy. Everywhere is equally clean and professionally set up. I was lucky enough to get my piercing from Clinton, who is knowledgeable, professional, kind, and has a very gentle touch. I recommend him highly. If you are getting pierced in the Boston area, Lucky's is a very good choice: clean, safe, professional, and welcoming.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a wonderful experience at my piercing appointment with Lars! I was a little nervous going into it, but they were very attentive and guided me through every step of it. They also told me that they wanted me to feel empowered throughout the whole process, which I really appreciated! They were also super understanding of needing a short break between my first and second piercing, and super attentive to me being a little lightheaded after. I felt very taken care of and in good hands. Yes, it is a little pricier than other places, but totally worth it in my opinion.

Experiencia negativa: I was botched. I went here for snake bites and was pierced by a guest, they did an amazing job and were very friendly. Going back to downsize was my biggest mistake. Clinton, one of the resident piercers, changed me to a post that was way too small on my right side which caused it to swell and, within a few days, fully embed itself in my lip. Instead of sending me to a doctor to get it correctly removed, the back disc was literally in my lip as the skin around it had fused back together, Clinton told me to come in and get it fixed for free. Making another appointment was a huge hassle with how unfriendly and difficult the customer service is, and I had to pay anyways because there was no communication. When I went in, Clinton stabbed the inside of my lip repeatedly with a needle and proceeded to try and punch the post back through my lip. After a few months of having to wear a silicone disc on the post to keep it from embedding (which it kept trying to do) and switching between posts depending on swelling, i gave up and went to my usual piercer who I've got all my others from. They told me the piercing will never fully heal because there is so much trauma, scar tissue, a tear, and he made a new hole (missing the original) which meant I was trying to heal two wounds. She told me she couldn't believe a licensed piercer would to this to me. I have never left a bad review for anywhere but I will never step foot in again or recommend anyone to this place.

Experiencia fantástica: When I walked into Lucky’s it was such a great experience. The most IMPORTANT thing as a customer anywhere is you want to feel heard and valued and that’s exactly what Lucky’s staff did. I spoke to two people at the front counter that helped me with my jewelry and they not only went over my options for jewelry but also answered all my questions. I wanted to have my jewelry anodized and they even showed me what the jewelry looked like before finishing the anodizing of the jewelry. For those who don’t know anodizing is an electrochemical process used to alter the surface of metal, primarily titanium, to create colorful and durable finishes! For example, I got the color yellow gold for mine !!! It is a great alternative solution if you want to do a jewelry swap out for real gold at an another time but still want that stylish gold look !! Thank you FOH!! ( Always make sure to thank them because they do an AMAZING JOB) For the piercing process my piercer was Clinton and they were wonderful !! I got two nostril piercings at an 12 gauge and a vertical labret piercing . Clinton was very kind and they talked me through the entire process but also made me feel like I could be honest about placement and even if I needed to take a second in between piercings ! They made the environment a safe one for me and I left not feeling rushed but like a customer that wanted to come back!! Piercings no matter how many you have can be anxiety inducing sometimes but Lucky’s staff does a great job at talking you through the process and makes sure you feel okay before continuing. I really think that if you’re considering a place to get a piercing done that you absolutely should consider Lucky’s !! The whole staff does a great job and they will take care of you !! Experiencia fantástica: today i came in to get an outer conch and a mid helix from Ash who is Lucky’s current apprentice piercer, and had a lovely experience! i didn’t really have strong feelings on where i wanted the conch to be placed, and they marked the perfect spot. i could not have been happier with how they turned out! the counter staff (Tati and Mika) were also very helpful and friendly as well. overall a great experience and i will definitely be back to see the very talented Ash again.

Experiencia fantástica: I have recently had a forearm tattoo done by Spencer at Lucky’s Tattoo in Cambridge. I am completely satisfied with this experience and would recommend Spencer and Lucky’s to anyone! Prior to beginning the work, Spencer took the time to thoroughly familiarize himself with all aspects of the design that I submitted. He inquired about details and presented me with printouts of my design in several sizes for me to examine and finally choose. His set up was immaculately clean, and he took appropriate steps to ensure sterility during and after the procedure. His attention to detail was impeccable. He is clearly passionate about tattooing and takes great pride in his work. (I also found the sketches of his Japanese style tattoo images posted on the wall to be very beautiful.) Booking my appointment on-line was easy and I was provided with clear instructions both for preparation and for post-tattooing care. Spencer and everyone at Lucky’s were simultaneously both professional and friendly. The cost of this excellent work was very reasonable, and I’m delighted with the outcome. Spencer and Lucky’s have earned my enthusiastic recommendations!

Experiencia negativa: (Septum with Robbi) honestly the most awful experience, they rushed through explaining everything and when I tried asking questions she just made me feel like an inconvenience and answered quickly without being patient or empathetic. If I didn’t get to observe a piercing done by Clinton before, I wouldn’t have known how much more amazing it could have been. Clinton was empathetic/ kind and patient with my friend. I’m really upset my first piercing was with them because she put it up high without telling me (I asked for a lower septum that hangs when she asked at the start as I have an ethnic nose) but without letting me know they put it high and you can’t even see it. Really disappointed and feels exclusive to not be able to make the piercing look good on an ethnic nose. It is too high up and definitely feels like they made a mistake. You cannot even see the piercing if my chin is slightly tilted. Such a shame, I am so so sad!!!

Experiencia fantástica: Lucky’s was everything I wanted in a piercing shop and more! It was elegant, well-lit and super clean! There was an array of jewelry to choose from. My piercer, Lars, made sure I understood the procedure and aftercare before they even looked at my ear. He discussed my overall plan and helped me pick the spots for my piercings with that in mind. She talked me through the piercings in such a detailed way that I never felt startled or surprised. It barely hurt at all and Lars checked in between each piercing to make sure I felt ok and brought me juice when I needed a rest between piercings two and three. I felt safe and well cared for the entire time. I highly recommend Lars and Lucky’s Piercing for anyone, experienced or newbie.

Gabby was so considerate and kind, always mindful of how I was doing and if I needed a break. I had a great time chatting and also just chilling during the appointment. Gabby gave great advice for tattoo aftercare and the healing process was so easy! I've been to Lucky's a few times and everyone is always so nice and welcoming. They confirmed my pronouns and preferred name when I checked in, which I so appreciated. My piercer was Robbi and she was so lovely, they kept me calm and comfortable the whole time and were so respectful! I would absolutely go back for another piercing!

Experiencia negativa: I would not recommend this place. Came here multiple times and each time I had a bad experience. The first time I was pierced here one of the piercers was not patient. During the piercing I made a noise because I was in pain since I had scar tissue and the piercer said “ that doesn’t make it any better “ and acted annoyed with me and before that she said my significant other could not come in but instead of saying I’m sorry only one person she said “not you “ to him . I completely understand not wanting guest in the piercing room for whatever reason. I respect that but it should be addressed betters . The other time I came here the people at the front seem miserable. They are not helpful. I usually don’t leave reviews but after some time I think it’s best to warn people so they don’t waste their money.

Experiencia fantástica: The first time I went to Lucky's I met with Lars and they were very helpful with my embedded piercing. The most recent time I wanted my helix to be checked up on and get the jewelry changed. The front of desk staff were super nice and helpful. The process of the change itself was super easy, Lars explained what they were doing, and they made the space super comfortable and answered all my questions. I asked them a question about my tongue piercing. They answered it and we immediately changed it. Lucky's is super clean, welcoming, and just a great trust worthy place to get anything done or checked up on.

Experiencia fantástica: Love it here!! I made an appointment end of October for an eyebrow and tragus piercing that was done by Lars. Today, I took a friend to get their second lobe piercing while I got my eyebrow bar downsized and was helped by Jaime at the counter. Her advice is so appreciated and was so helpful explaining options for jewelry! Robbi was our professional piercer that helped both of us today, and she was so lovely and helpful with aftercare and healing process and made us both feel super comfortable. The jewelry options here are just beautiful and gorgeous, just like the staff here!! Can’t wait to come back!!

Experiencia positiva: Came in for a downsize on two posts (conch and lobe) Posts were more expensive than what I've paid in Worcester ($22 each) but that's to be expected coming into Boston. Front desk staff were meh. Very cold/didn't really do anything besides the minimum requirement (tbf this is two days after Christmas, can understand not wanting to work, but it doesn't seem like an uncommon complaint). I was considering buying new jewerly for the conch I was downsizing, but based on just their... disinterest in my existance? I decided against asking about the jewerly they had on display and will just wait until I visit Worcester with my normal shop. The person at the register had asked to see the piercings I wanted to downsize and when I touched my ear they sorta yelled "don't touch it" at me which was frustrating as 1 - it was a public space in front of other people and 2 - I was trying to do as they had requested, and I'm not even sure why the front desk staff needed to see the piercing I wanted to downsize? Like, if it had been a nipple or genital piercing, they absolutely wouldn't have been able to ask ‍♂️ Callie, piercer who I saw, is a guest piercer there. She was delightful to see and selected appropriate lengths for my downsize. Three stars for an exceedingly average experience, with one negative (front desk person yelling) and one positive (Callie is a delight)

Experiencia fantástica: Heather is amazing!! I got a vertical helix done here after getting a hidden helix done earlier the same day by Clinton that I didn’t actually love and sat a bit lopsided despite me asking several times for him to make sure the chains did not tilt. Heather very gently undid the hidden, cleaned it, and pierced me with a vertical with minimal bleeding. Both piercers were very gentle and competent, but Heather was just a better listener for my communication style. I also don’t really understand all the reviews about the jewelry being overpriced…BVLA has the same prices across the board, and the jewelry at Lucky’s was practically the same pricing that I paid for jewelry for my piercings in London and SF.

Experiencia negativa: The front desk woman with shoulder length brown hair was condescending and not helpful at all. When I asked to look at the backing sizes, she wouldn't even take them out for me since she insisted it's impossible to tell the sizing between them. I have over 20 piercings - all I wanted was to see them, I don't need the pushback or the comment that I won't be able to tell the difference. It does not feel welcoming in there at all. All of the piercing jewelry are pricey. When I simply got my piercing changed and downsized, they gave me a hard time, questioned me multiple times about where I got the piercing as if they could have done better or that the piercing place didn't give me proper instructions - literally, if you are going to be demeaning about where I got my piercings done, you can keep it to yourself. I'm not paying you for your judgment. Don't go here. For the exorbitant price and pain you make to go here, and they really can only take you if you book an appointment since they are always "so busy" [not even for a good reason], I would recommend to go anywhere else. It's not worth your money. And please train your staff on kind and welcoming etiquette. Apart from the condescending tones and service, they just stand there on their phones and don't ask if you need help with anything.

Experiencia negativa: I went in to look at jewelry and hopefully downsize my piercing. I made an appointment and paid a $15 deposit. My appointment was at 1pm and I wasn't seen until 1:15. The piercer told me they were unable to downsize the piercing since I still had a small bump and just told me "to come back in a month" multiple times which doesn't help me. During my appointment, the piercer asked where I had gotten this specific piercing done, to which I responded Studs on Newbury, they proceeded to imply that Studs was not reputable and assumed I hadn't been given care instructions (Studs did provide care instructions I just didn't downsize my piercing at the right time). Furthermore, while looking at the jewelry the front desk woman was very stuck up and demeaning towards my friend and I while shopping for jewelry and asking questions. FYI for anyone looking for jewelry at Luckys all of it is VERY pricy. For those who can't afford $200 for a white gold 1cm stud, I would avoid shopping here. They also don't include the backing of the jewelry with the purchase and you need to buy that separately. Because my piercing couldn't be downsized during my appointment and I received no other service from the piercer my $15 deposit was only given back as a coupon. This was impractical for me as I wasn't going to be back for a while and ended up buying a $75 stud (backing not included) with the coupon because everything else was so expensive.

Experiencia negativa: I went in for a jewelry downsize (nostril) and assistance getting an old naval piercing tapered. I had been to Lucky’s in north Hampton and had a great experience there. Overall, I was pretty disappointed in 2 areas in Cambridge: 1. Communication and 2. Customer service. I wrote extensive notes in my booking as requested (with questions about the naval tapering - wasn’t sure if I could bring in my own jewelry) this was never followed up on and thankfully, I brought jewelry just in case. I felt so ignored by the 3 staff members on their phone at the reception on multiple occasions - signing in, closing out, asking about jewelry pricing. They were so disengaged and I felt pretty uncomfortable asking them to… do their job… The nostril downsizing went well and quickly, but I wasn’t given any information about how to continue the care after the downsizing. I didn’t see her clean any of my jewelry (that I brought or that she downsized with) when thinking back. I even had to ask her to saline spray my naval after tapering it, but she said there wasn’t a wound, so it wouldn’t be necessary… come to find it was bleeding less than 10 minutes later once I got to my car. Over all, they didn’t do a thorough job and they weren’t proactive in communication. Disappointing for the prices and quality you advertise.

Experiencia fantástica: Working with Gabby Winchester on my tattoo has been an amazing experience. Not only is Gabby an excellent artist from conception to tattoo, but they are incredibly welcoming, warm and thoughtful. Gabby takes her role as artist and caretaker throughout the process very seriously, which I appreciated so much as my tattoo was in a painful location. I’m so happy to say that working with Gabby has been one of my best tattoo experiences from start to finish, and I can’t wait to schedule another tattoo with them. As a side note, the shop itself is clean and well-run. Everyone there has been friendly and it’s great to have private rooms for tattoos.

Experiencia negativa: My sister went to Lucky's for a septum piercing. This shop had rave reviews and appeared clean and professional, so we thought we made the right choice. Unfortunately, her piercer Clinton made a mistake with the piercing and it was lopsided. After admitting and apologizing, he did the piercing a second time, but it was still lopsided. All the shop offered her was a free bottle of saline spray, and she had to go to a different shop to get the piercing fixed (which the piercer did quickly and easily). Hopefully the other piercers and the tattoo shop are better, but from our experience here I would have to give 1 star.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently got my Prince Albert piercing with Robbi and I was very happy with the experience and the resulting piercing. The front desk staff were very organized and professional and made checking in a breeze, even though it was a pretty busy Friday night and I had forgotten to fill out the waiver beforehand. I was a bit nervous, but Robbi was very assuring and really made me feel as relaxed as I could be. The piercing practices here are very modern, as well as their aftercare advice, which is great. They really take sanitation very seriously. The piercing itself was very quick and as "pain-less" as can be. I have actually had a PA done over a decade before at a different studio, and Robbi made this experience much, much better. I had issues with the older piercing that led me to have to take it out, and I feel that Robbi really listened to me and shared very useful information about the piercing and jewelry options that made me feel confident I made the right choose coming here this time around. I would highly recommend Robbi to anyone looking to find a great piercer in Cambridge. My partner even booked an appoint a week later with Robbi for a helix that was an equally great experience. She also had great help from the front of house staff with picking out jewelry. I thought pricing was very fair, and they only stock high quality jewelry. Overall, I will definitely recommend Lucky's and Robbi to everyone, thanks a lot.

Experiencia fantástica: Gotten 2 tattoos and 2 piercings here over the past few years. All great experiences that compare favorably to the ones I have had at a different large shop in Boston. Lucky’s has a really welcoming and clean studio environment and very kind and friendly front of house staff which I find to be more relaxing and comfortable than most other tattoo shops. It’s not the cheapest place but I think you get what you pay for in terms of quality, safety, and execution. Of the artists/piercers I have seen here, most are still at Lucky’s and I recommend them all - Nads for tattoos & Robbi and Heather for piercings (Clinton also downsized one of my piercings most recently and was great to work with too!).

Experiencia positiva: TLDR: check who your piercer is before going in!!! My sister and I got pierced here both for nose rings and had incredibly different experiences. My piercer Jaime Fox was great — super kind and sweet and really in depth and in detail explained to me the healing process and dos and donts. Also let me have my sister with me in the room. Jaime was so gentle in walking me through every part of the process, and even asked for my pronouns and used them. Jaime naturally gave me two different dots on the first nostril I was getting pierced to give me options for placement and let me choose while explaining the benefits and different look of both. They then also explained the differences in the second nostril placement — I.e. did I want it to line up horizontally with my first piercing or did I want it to be the same distance from the end of my nostril as my piercing. Without having Jaime, my sister and I wouldn’t have realized how good the piercing process could be — and how bad in comparison my sisters experience was. My sisters piercer Heather however was really rude. Firstly, when my sister asked for her to move the black dot/give her more options of where the piercing was supposed to go on her nostril, Heather insisted that it “didn’t really matter” and that it would all look the same anyway. Then, when my sister insisted on having some different placement dot options, Heather seemed frustrated and proceeded to put dots all up and down her nose until they were on the other nostril that my sister wasn’t getting pierced. Then, when my sister asked if she could come outside to get my opinion (because I wasn’t allowed in, which is fair bc it’s piercers decision), Heather again was frustrated and said that she was the professional so there was no need for a second opinion. Lastly, after Heather finished piercing my sister she just let her go and didn’t give any of the healing information or dos and donts that Jaime gave me, which feels unsafe healthwise. I couldn’t tell if there was a racist dynamic there, if it was because we took an extra 5 min selecting jewelry, or something else. I wish I could’ve told my sister that if she was uncomfortable, to just leave and ask for the deposit back or come back on a day with a better and more kind piercer.

Experiencia negativa: I had a disappointing experience at this piercing place despite Heather, the piercer, being great. If it wasn't for Heather this place deserves one star. The front desk staff were unprofessional, spending more time socializing than assisting customers. Choosing new jewelry was frustrating, as staff offered no guidance and merely told me to "pick what you like." After struggling for 10 minutes, they finally offered to grab a tweezer so I hold it up closer to my nose. All the jewelry I touched was not cleaned afterwards and placed back for display. When I called to inquire about prices before making a non refundable deposit, they only gave partial information. After my nose piercing, I was told I needed to return one month later to change the post size to something small, which was not mentioned beforehand when I called. It was $15 to make a downsizing appointment. When I arrived, I was charged extra for the new post. The downsize and shorter post price should be included in the initial payment. The total cost ended up being $175 for a single stud nose piercing, which felt excessively high and like a ploy to squeeze more money out of customers.

Experiencia fantástica: I got a tattoo with Gabby Winchester, and I can safely say this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with an artist. They were nothing but patient, caring, and I knew that she genuinely had my best interests in mind for designing a beautiful tattoo that I love, and that will heal and hold up well over time. They even came in on their day off to squeeze me in before I left for school! Gabby is a brilliant artist and an even better person, and I cannot recommend them highly enough!! Experiencia fantástica: Got a nose piercing from Robbie. They were extremely comforting, thorough in explaining the piercing process and aftercare, and very very friendly. Robbie was also very attentive to any questions I had, was very patient and thorough throughout the entire process, particularly when it came to placement of the jewelry. The front desk staff was also super accommodating and answered all my questions about the jewelry I was picking out. I highly recommend getting a nose piercing here, certainly the best place I’ve gone to.

Experiencia positiva: I've gotten pierced twice at luckys and gone back another time with 2 coworkers and a friend- the piercers are absolutely fantastic, kind, comforting, understanding, and extremely knowledgeable. If I was just rating them, it'd be 5/5 from me. Lars in particular is a literal gem and one of my absolute favorite people I've ever gotten a piercing from. They always take the time to explain every step, are so sweet and check in frequently to make sure you're feeling comfortable. The only issue I've had is the front desk staff can be really brusque and even rude, and seem annoyed by questions/annoyed if you take longer than 5 minutes deciding on the very expensive jewelry. Their website is very confusing for booking appointments, so I've had issues figuring it out and when I called to ask genuine questions about the right way to book, the front desk staff were again rude and seemed frustrated by my questions. Recently, i had a piercing downsized, and it fell out-- god forbid you have an emergency like that because the front desk staff acted as though i was personally inconveniencing them asking for a same day appointment because it would otherwise close up. Worth it to keep coming back from the piercers-- because again, they are all so so kind and i have only ever had wonderful experiences with them-- but I really hope they read this review and talk to the desk staff about trying to be more understanding when people have questions, because at this point it's been 3 different desk staffers I've had negative interactions with or felt rushed by. It's honestly shocking to me that a place that clearly tries to emphasize feeling comfortable and supported (based on their piercers) has front desk staff who behave in a way that feels honestly mean. It's just hard when you are already nervous and coming in for an emergency and get treated like an annoyance and like they don't even want you there. There are many reviews here saying the same thing, and the 2 coworkers and friend I came here with all also had the exact same feeling-- I'm not the type to write a bad review after one mixed experience, this is coming from 4 people's experiences on at least 5-6 occasions (piercings, downsizing, etc). I will say though, it's definitely not everyone at the front desk-- some have been kind and even comped a post I needed upsized. Just overall definitely something to work on

They made sure I had the best experience, and I will most definitely be back to get more piercings done by them

Experiencia fantástica: got angel fangs — paired vertical lip piercings — by clinton and had a great experience! he was super friendly and answered all of my questions. had a bit of trouble getting the placement right — had to backtrack and redo both — and he was awesome throughout. really appreciate the dedication to a quality piercing, especially since they were paired and needed to match not just each other, but my other lip piercings. they are exactly how i wanted them. absolutely perfect. definitely recommend this place and am planning on going back to downsize when the swelling is down on these and to get other piercings in the future!

Experiencia fantástica: I've been going to get pierced at Lucky's for a few years now but recently got my daith pierced by Heather. The entire experience is very pleasant and well rehearsed. There are no pushy sales tactics to get you to buy higher cost jewelry if you are in a budget. Heather was extremely friendly and walked me through the entire process like a pro. The actual piercing part was smooth and relatively painful, and I credit Heather's training and calm demeanour for that! Will always recommend Lucky's as the place to go if you want a positive piercing experience.

Experiencia negativa: Was 2 minutes late to my appointment due to unfamiliar and busy area, I called when I was almost there. Walked in and was treated like I was 10 minutes late by front desk staff. Two women, green hair and brown hair- acted very indifferent, brown haired woman seemed almost rude. Didn't feel welcoming at all and made me feel uncomfortable. They didn't want to be there/didn't care and you can tell. My piercer, Heather, was AMAZING and I would give her 5* separately. Made me very comfortable and was very kind. If not for her I would have probably given 1*.

Experiencia negativa: This place is busy and I respect that. I mean it’s 1 of very few reputable piercing shops in the Boston area. For me, I’ve had over 15x piercings in various places on my body and as a result have gotten to see various kinds of tattoo and piercing shops. If this was your first time getting pierced or you were getting something more complex I would say this isn’t a terrible place to come. But humans are fallible and the industry of piercings is no exception. The reason I gave 2 stars was because of the service and the price. I do always recommend buying quality pieces of jewelry and the bar I got is sturdy and of good quality… all-be it definitely on the higher end of the price point than other places (one must account for the cost of being in a city and paying city prices). If you go here, of course you’ll need an appointment and even one for sizing! I understand this concept in theory but, what happens if you have an emergency with your piercing and just need a filler piece of jewelry to tide you over until you can get an appointment? I didn’t get a chance to even fully explain my circumstances when I was met with a disgruntled employee. Initially I asked to buy a bar, and she asked me what size. When I said “oh I’m not sure” her demaner shifted to one that reflected annoyance which.. I can understand. I didn’t have an appointment or call ahead. I didn’t realize you can’t really look at jewelry at this type of shop. I recognize it’s also on me for not asking the previous piercer, what he was piercing me with. But the attitude was completely not necessary. When I asked if I would be able to just review the sizes, I was told that I would need an appointment and they were all booked for today. I had to keep advocating for myself due to the pickle I was in ( fear of my nipple piercing closing up). The rest of the interaction was just hostile and very uncomfortable. I don’t want to come back to a place like this and wish there were more piercing shops around. I’ve noticed many Boston piercing shops have a similar business models post Covid and can’t really do anything for you if you have an emergency with your piercing. This blemish isn’t necessarily just this shop’s fault but, rather an issue with various shops in Boston. She also could have been a little forthcoming with information and dropped the attitude though. Really disappointing and disheartening experience :/ I’m sure other people have had good experiences it just was just a jarring and dysregulating experience when all I needed was a simple bar to hold me over until I could get an appointment. No offer to schedule one either but most likely because she wanted me to get out of the shop. Oh well :/ I was hoping to find a reliable place but this interaction makes me weary of ever going back.

They took such good care of me and made sure I felt safe and comfortable during the entire process. Robbi is such a cool person and I believe I have found my new home base piercer in the Boston area. Experiencia fantástica: My review is a bit overdue, but I still wanted to share my experience. Overall, the staff at Lucky's were friendly and so was my tattoo artist, Nads. For my tattoo I wanted to get two skeletons holding each other. Unfortunately, over time I noticed parts of my tattoo started to look funny. Some Parts of the skeleton have faded. I do understand that tattoos can fade over time, BUT I had this tattoo for less than a year. I also have constantly used sunscreen on it and kept it covered with my shirt. Another thing I noticed was the skeleton on the left had some lines had blown out. Now I’m not sure I can cover this tattoo up due to the blow outs. *UPDATE* Right after I left my review, Lucky's tattoo manger, Patrick Macdonald contacted me to help fix my tattoo. Patrick went above and beyond to help me get my tattoo fixed. He was willing to travel to any of the Lucky's to fix my tattoo with no charge to me. When I met up with him, he was super nice and made me feel welcome. He showed a drawing he had been working on and I gave him the okay to begin tattooing. He engaged in conversation to help distract me from the pain of the tattoo. The time flew by as we talked and laughed. Once he was done, I got to see my new tattoo. I was shocked and amazed at how wonderful it turned out. After that I thanked him for his hard work. I HIGHLY recommend getting your tattoos done by Patrick.

Experiencia positiva: Had a nose piercing fall out and lost the jewelry so I needed a new piercing put in. I specifically asked for the back piece to not be long as it bothers me, but they went ahead and did so anyway. I assume it’s because they want me to come back later and pay to switch it out for a shorter one. They did a good job but feel a bit scammed as my piercing was healed and definitely did not need the longer backing (super annoying and rubs the inside of my nose)

All the staff are well-trained and attend conferences regularly to refresh best safety measures/practices. Also, VERY queer-friendly! I came here to get my nostril pierced, returned several months later to get my septum pierced. My friend came here to get their rook pierced and returned with me to get their eyebrow pierced. All masterfully done.

Experiencia negativa: Super disappointed with my service today. I had a stretched earlobe repaired 3-4 months ago and wanted to get the area repierced. I was fully approved by the surgeon to do so at this time, because, although people say that it takes a full year to heal, the ear heals -- at most -- to 86% elasticity. By Month 3, the ear is healed to 83-84% elasticity already, so the subsequent months of healing are medically very negligible. I was refused the piercing at the time of my appointment despite being transparent about my situation when booking the appointment. I was not contacted by Lucky's before my appointment, nor was there a warning on their online booking software regarding an inability/refusal to pierce post-ear repair surgery. Although I was refunded my deposit, it is enormously disappointing to have been refused service today. This also fails to account for the time that I specifically took out of my schedule for this appointment, which is unable to be replaced. I've been to Lucky's for the majority of my piercings, and this is the first bad experience that I've had. I truly couldn't be more disappointed after today.

Today I was pierced by Heather, she was amazing as well, and very informant about our body's anatomy. I got both my second earlobes and conch done , and honestly, i thought the conch would hurt more than the lobes, which was the complete opposite. Literally I trust my whole heart with this place!

Experiencia fantástica: I got my rook and a singular lobe done here recently and had a great experience. I was pierced by Robbi. The place is very clean, and the staff are well trained and informative. They have a good range of jewelry options for different metals & gem types. I have anxiety during piercings because I have a low pain tolerance, and I'm a fainting risk (the things we do to look cool). The staff & Robbi were understanding, and followed what I told them helped me the most. I was able to lay down and we did the piercings at my own pace. I was told what was going on at every step which was super helpful as you can't see what is going on for ear piercings. I felt super informed about the healing time of my piercings, downsizing, and aftercare instructions. I will definitely be returning for piercings in the future :)

Experiencia fantástica: I got double second lobe piercings here a couple of weeks ago and I would definitely recommend, Keith, the apprentice piercer is super kind, informative and does a great job! My piercings are healing nicely and I got clear care instructions. I’d go again if I wanted more piercings.

Experiencia fantástica: First I want to say how amazing Heather was with my two girls. I was nervous how they would react when getting pierced however it was Heathers calm and informative approach that made this all worth it. I was so thankful that she not only spoke to me about the processes but also spoke to the girls themselves about aftercare and what she was going to do. They both look amazing and I would recommend the experience we had to anyone who has a little girl who is ready for earrings.

Experiencia positiva: Brought my sister here for her septum piercing appointment on a Saturday evening. They're appointment-only, so you have to ring a bell to be let in. Bonus points though because patrons are also required to wear a mask. We checked in, and my sister was shown the case of available septum jewelry, and we could ask about the pricing of each piece. The experience was a bit frustrating because of the lack of pricing transparency. There's the deposit to be paid when making the appointment online, but the FAQ only lists the starting prices for the jewelry, so imagine my surprise when the first piece we asked the pricing for was $525. Admittedly I don't have piercings myself so I don't know what standard prices are, and I'm sure the jewelry is high quality. We ended up asking the pricing for a couple of different pieces, but it just felt like a longer process than it has to be. Upon a little more digging on their site, they do have an online store, but they only list a fraction of what jewelry is available and they encourage you to call for more details. Ultimately, my sister was happy with her piercing, but I would encourage other first-timers to do more research than I did to avoid any surprises.

Experiencia fantástica: Mimi gave me a second lobe piercing in each ear back in June and it was honestly the BEST experience. It was my first piercing since I was an infant, and I was irrationally nervous, but Mimi put me at ease. She was so precise with marking where she’d pierce and made sure I was completely happy and informed before she started. She was patient with me and talked me through each step. The actual piercing was basically painless! She was also informative about aftercare, available to answer my silly questions, and so kind and efficient when I came back for downsizing. I love my new piercings - no notes. Absolute perfection. Only Mimi will be piercing me going forward.

I normally get anxiety and light-headed around getting pierced, but my piercer Heather was extremely kind and accommodating which made me feel more at ease. Will be coming back!

Experiencia fantástica: Great service, I got pierced by Robbie the first time and Lars the second. Both were excellent, made me feel comfortable, safe, and less nervous. They tell you before every touch and step which helps with feeling at ease. It's also a trauma informed and consent based practice to do that so if that is a concern, you will be in good hands. My piercings are healing beautifully so I know it was done professionally and with utmost care and cleanliness.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve gone to this shop for jewelry change and piercings for the past year. Every time I’ve had a wonderful experience. They’re super queer friendly and COVID conscious. Theyre the shop that switched out my jewelry before a very significant surgery, and the shop I trusted to put everything back. Their staff is knowledgeable and suuuper nice too! It’s really lovely having them be a part of the Cambridge / central square community :) phenomenal team and I could not recommend them any more highly. Piercings by the EXTREMELY zen and sweet Clinton. Today, though I didn’t make an appointment to ask questions or shop for jewelry on top of the reason I was there, the person at the front was super accommodating, as were the piercers. They were generous with their time and expertise even though they didn’t have to be. Ah one other huge important mention, their thoughtfulness towards pronouns is EXTREMELY validating and affirming. Not something I’m used to in tattoo shops, even those in super liberal places. Thank you all so much! I’ll be back!

Experiencia negativa: Unfortunately I am disappointed with my piercings I got here, I got snake bites here about a year ago. The staff were all very nice and the shop was nice and clean but my snake bites came out crooked. I noticed right off the bat they looked crooked after the second piercing was done but my piercer assured me that after the swelling goes down in a few months they will straighten out. She said after 6+ months they should be completely healed. They healed without any problems, I cleaned them everyday and downsized as instructed but even a year on out they are still very crooked looking and lopsided no matter what jewelry I put in. One is higher than the other and the tunnel is at a different angle/point of entry than the other one inside my mouth. After months of doing research for snakebites and almost $200 down I'm immensely disappointed that they turned out so crooked.

Experiencia fantástica: I’d love to begin with sayin’ this is THE BEST ATMOSPHERE, PERIOD! Lucky’s Tattoo has some of the best staff. NIC, the front staff, took care of my partner and I. They helped chose the most fabulous jewelry for our piercings. I didn’t feel any pressure or feel shame with my novice knowledge. Nic made me feel completely comfortable. It was as if they knew me! When it was time for the piercing, the amazing hospitality didn’t end. Surprisingly, the experience became more pleasant! I know, WILD! Right? LARS is a piercing deity! I had never experienced a more thorough and soothing piercing experience. Lucky’s Tattoo is a must. Ask for Nic regarding jewelry and Lars for piercing(s). You will not be disappointed.

Great selection of jewelry. The staff is super respectful and supportive. Recently had three piercings added to my ear. I love the way it came out. I'll be back here when I can afford to be.
