He’s the kind of artist who really listens. He’s open to ideas, talks through the details with you, and collaborates to make sure the final result is better than what you originally imagined. If you’re considering booking with him, take the time to look through his original work. That’s where you really see his talent. You won’t be disappointed. He’s genuinely one of the coolest dudes I know, and without question one of the most talented artists I’ve had the chance to work with. If you’re anywhere near Chattanooga, he’s worth the drive.

Fantastic experience: Visited a year ago for my 15 yr old niece to have her ear lobes pierced. We had such a positive experience then that my sister and I returned to have our own ear lobes pierced for 2nd & 3rd holes recently. It was significantly less painful with the single needle piercing than the gun I recall from my first and second lobe piercings 20+ years ago. We had an equally lovely experience with Dick Cutter and the staff this time as last time. Highly recommend for piercings!

Savannah was prompt, friendly, kind, patient, helpful, and executed my 2nd lobe piercing perfectly! Fantastic experience: Sav was my piercer and did such an incredible job, truly the best experience I've ever had when getting pierced (I already have 7 piercings). They were kind and patient with me, made sure i like the placement of the piercing, ensured where the piercing would be would not be harmful (not hit a vein). My skin was properly cleaned and sterilized with iodine, i was given mouthwash to swish around in my mouth, and I was talked through the piercing as it happened. I was given a bottle of water, the environment was very clean, the other staff there were so, so very kind and I had a good conversation with a staff member about the piercing and why I was getting it in which they shared their excitement about it as well due to the media that influenced this piercing. All the instructions I received were very clear, the consent form was thorough. Truly, this place is the place you want to go to for a piercing without a doubt. I have genuinely never felt so welcome as I did at this establishment and that was so important to me. Total cost was $73 (piercing plus sterile saline to clean the outside of the piercing. Piercing itself was $60)

Fantastic experience: Quick in and out. Got my septum pierced by Dick and he was quick and talked me through it all. Pain 7/10 as the needle went in afterwards it was just an aching sensation 3/10 pain. Very clean and cautious. I’ll be going back maybe for some tattoos next time!

Positive experience: Really great experience with Dick. Excellent piercer. I went as a group with other women, and we all had a great experience. The only negative I have is that the pricing info on their site needs to be updated as one of the ladies wasn't aware of the nose ring price being a bit higher than anticipated. Other than that, I will definitely be back again :) . Plus, the flash sales from the artist are really cool looking and a great deal in price.

Fantastic experience: (Posting this afterwords as they deserve the recognition) Firstly wow great expierence, had the day off from work and was looking to get a tattoo unfortunately they did not have walk ins for a tattoo available for that day but were happy to accommodate me with a new piercing! I got a facial dermal something I was semi nervous of getting but had anticipated for a long time. Dick was my piercer and they were great. Walked me through all the steps of allowing it to heal and was a great conversation-ist. I really appreciated the inclusivity of everybody it really felt like great foundation in the work they do and I got to learn more about Standard Inks history in Chattanooga with it being the oldest tattoo shop in Chattanooga. I would highly recommend the establishment to anybody. It was a really safe space to express yourself and I think that goes a long way into the community it serves. Hoping to come back soon, thanks again to the staff here!

Fantastic experience: Dick pierced my 5 year olds ears and did a phenomenal job making her comfortable by explaining everything so she would understand. To make it better, he let my 3 year old up into the chair to pretend to get his ears pierced so he would feel included (without me having to ask). I would absolutely come back!

Negative experience: Turned away, seems the "artists" are more interested in chit chat than drilling. They'll slap a piercing on you in a hurry just as off center as you'd like.

Prior to my 6yo daughter’s ear-piercing appointment, I received multiple reminders about our appointment with details about necessary paperwork. Sunny, the piercing artist we went to, was AMAZING. She was so great with my daughter and made both of us feel comfortable as soon as we walked in. She talked my daughter through each step patiently and thoroughly. We, also, left with a follow-up document stating how to clean her piercings, for how long, etc. They truly did a great job to cover any/all questions we would have had. She snapped on me and my friends and honestly I was temped to get up and walk out. I work in hospitality and the way I was treated today was bad customer service.

I had my septum pierced years ago but it had grown up after a few weeks of having my jewelry out so had to have her re-do mine. She was very professional and had a very calm, sweet demeanor. Negative experience: I’ve had good experiences back since the days that they were across the street on Frazier. 15 of my tattoos and most of my piercings came from there. The reason I have to give this rating, though, is because now those of us who are physically disabled (I now use a wheelchair) don’t have many options in accessing their services. I’ve called about any options for accessible parking or any easier entry, and besides (already taken up) street parking there are no independent options for those who have to use mobility assistance. If you don’t have the luxury of being let out of someone’s car up front (and yes, lots of us have to drive and get around alone) you’re SOL. Plenty of other shops with decent accessibility in town, though, and other businesses on Frazier that have made accessible parking possible.

I am an autistic, part-time AAC user and no one batted and eyelash at giving me time to communicate or making sure I was comfortable! I LOVE my piercing and Sunny's chill&joyful vibes!!! Fantastic experience: My kids and I are refugees of Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina. When we got to Chattanooga, we discovered that my daughter's ear piercings were infected. We showed up at Standard Ink for help, and were treated with so much warmth and kindness. Sunny (@piercingsbythesun on Instagram) gently walked my daughter through the whole process, and would not take a penny for the service, the earrings, or the H2Ocean spray! I was moved to tears by her generosity and sweet spirit. Support this shop, people.

They have one person who does walk inside, so definitely no promises you'll get that lucky but between the people helping at the counter and the artist they were able to work us around his consultation. Fantastic experience: I got my second tattoo here and it was such an amazing experience. The store itself is extremely clean and the overall atmosphere is very comforting in a way I can't quite explain in words. It's something you have to experience in person. I came in with two reference photos and Jess blew me away with how she integrated them both into the final design. People have been asking me where I got it done and I immediately recommend this place to them. You can tell that the artists here truly enjoy and take pride in their work. I'll probably never switch parlours now that I know this place exists.

Fantastic experience: Sunny is an amazing piercer. They did both my ears for the first time at the literary ink convention. The price was an absolute steal, and I loved their jewelry options as well. I’m not great with needles but they made me feel relaxed and made the whole process super easy and painless. Along the healing process, they immediately answered all my questions and concerns through instagram as I’m from out of town. All the way around a really great person to work with, hope to see them again!

Negative experience: We called and was told to bring our granddaughter in for ears piercing. We traveled 45 minutes to get there and was told no- you need a special appointment. Instead of taking our little girl since they told us to come in- the nasty mgr sent us all the way home. Go elsewhere for your service! Very inconsiderate
