Living Canvas Tattoo & Body Piercing

Fantastic experience: I’ve had two different pieces done at this shop and love them! Every artist I see or speak with is kind and makes sure to take their time crafting the perfect piece for me. The shop is also clean which is always the first thing I look for when getting piercings or tattoos. Thank you, Living Canvas for two great experiences so far and more to come!

Negative experience: Do not go to Kim for piercings. I have witnessed her pierce three seperate people, including myself, and each time she messed it up. I went in to get my septum pierced and it took her three (bloody) tries, and I still left with an extremely crooked piercing because she said it was just swelling. I ended up coming back two weeks later to get a free fix up by another piercer. Another septum was done and the jewelry was so small, it was hidden inside his nose and you could not see the piercing?? The final time I witnessed her piercing, was an eyebrow and she gave him a bar that was WAY too small and discouraged proper healing. For the price, we were expecting a better experience /:

Fantastic experience: Ever get annoyed hunting for a good professional shop that has actual professionals? I did, until now. The shop is clean and welcoming. They have displays and comfortable seating in their lobby areas and its adorned with art to a appreciate during your short wait. Consultations are honest and deposits count towards your booking. Walk-ins are welcomed and depending on the piece and the artists schedule they are happy to work with you. Also, did i mention their affordable ? They don't overcharge as MANY shops tend towards in Hub areas and no surprise costs at the end of your sessions. I have returned 3 times so far and I WILL be returning for more art. The hunt is over, this is the shop.

The place itself is unique and awesome looking. Everyone is so helpful. Even after you're home. Call for a question, immediate response! Pete did my tattoo, he was fast and very good!! Very nice guy! Made sure everything was right. You couldn't do a better job! I waited a bit and they made me feel right at home! One hell of a business I'll see you again someday. Fantastic experience: kim did my septum and everything went perfectly, all staff i interacted with were very kind !

Positive experience: I cannot speak on behalf of the personalities and skills of the tattoo artists (hence the three-star rating instead of one), but I can speak on the personality of one of the piercers, Mike. I got my nose pierced by an otherwise reliable piercer back in my hometown. My piercer used a corkscrew piercing, and it was causing me some issues. My nose swelling would not go down, and the gem on my jewelry was recessing into my skin. I called ahead to Living Canvas, and they told me they could help me change my jewelry to one with a longer bar and/or bigger gem. When I got in, I explained my situation once more before waiting for a piercer to be available. When Mike walked out to get me from the waiting room, he loudly told his coworker, "A bunch of college kids are coming back into town and don't know how to change their own piercing." When we got back to the room, he lectured me about how I should not say I have a problem with my piercing but with my jewelry because when piercers hear the word piercing, they think of the actual hole and not the jewelry (even though he did the same thing when he made his comment earlier and I had called ahead and explained my exact problem). He repeatedly made other comments that placed the blame for my faulty piercing on me. He commended how I was cleaning the piercing (aka the only actual part of the process I was responsible for). I have been to two other pierces previously; I am used to the typical sarcastic/blunt humor typically associated with the profession. The comments made by him were not witty nor humorous, but rude and discouraging. If you go here, do not go to Mike.

Fantastic experience: I've had multiple tattoos done at Living Canvas and have loved my experiences there, both with the staff and with their quality work. Cameron worked on my black-and-white half sleeve many years ago over multiple sessions and it still looks amazing. I just saw Kayli for the first time for a small, delicate, collarbone tattoo and couldn't be happier with the results. She has such a light hand and was very thorough and kind. Best tattoo shop I have ever visited. I look forward to getting more ink from Kayli next year!

Fantastic experience: I got my nostril piercing done by Mike, and he did fantastic! It was quick and painless, and it has been healing really well. Mike was great about explaining the process and care for my piercing after it was done. I highly recommend him and Living Canvas!

Negative experience: Went in to get the protective plastic put over a tattoo I got done recently and they denied me service even after I offered paying for it. Didn’t really seem like good people and I think the guy that made the call was the owner. Something that takes not even 2 minutes they could not do which is crazy but it’s understandable because of their rating is low. Something so easy just cost them a future costumer, I would recommend not going here as they are super unprofessional and their energy is super off!

Fantastic experience: Corey has done 5 out of my 6 tattoos and I would rather eat a handful of rusty nails than let anyone else do my future tattoos. Update: Corey has now done 9 out of my 10 tattoos and every piece is perfect. I have photos this time. He always makes any alterations I want before we get started and his goal is always to make sure the tattoo is exactly what I envisioned. I will never go to anyone else.

He was straightforward and took his time on marking where I wanted pierced. He was educated and very professional and it’s obvious that he cares about what he’s doing. Shawn happened to have a few minutes in his busy schedule and he was absolutely wonderful. He got the design I wanted spot on. Positive experience: Overall, I’m happy with my experience! I have tattoos, but have always been nervous about piercings. I was in town for homecoming with some friends, had a rush of courage, and decided to finally get my ears pierced. Kim was professional and kind - I’d recommend her in a heartbeat! The price was on par for a shop in a downtown district of a college town like Columbia. The one thing that wasn’t great was the coupon they have on their website. They only honor it if you have it printed out. This practice feels a little outdated. With that being said, I still had a good experience and would recommend them for piercings!

Fantastic experience: Today was my first day at Living Canvas and I went because my husband is getting his work done by Amanda and she’s super duper awesome and I had a lady named Kim pierced my ears for me as well. I had a great experience with them both and highly recommend that you stop by and show some love to them!! Fantastic experience: Everyone who I encountered was very nice and welcoming. I was there to get my first tattoo and when I told them it was my first tattoo they were very patient and made sure I got exactly what I wanted.

Positive experience: Piercings go quickly and every piercer I’ve had here has reassured my anxiety and offered me a gummy when I got tingly. 4 stars because it is pricey but I trust them and will continue to come back. The people are very friendly. The wait time can take a bit.

He was extremely knowledgeable and let me know that some of my current jewelry could cut through my skin, and helped set me up with titanium jewelry for a great price that’s better for me and my skin allergies as a red head. Negative experience: Mike, the person who pierced my belly button, not only made it the worst experience of my life but also pierced my stomach instead of my belly button. Throughout the procedure, he was rude, angry, and yelled at one of his coworkers over a 14-year-old girl who wanted her cartilage pierced. Additionally, he took an excessively long time to get the needle through, resulting in more pain than necessary. The entire experience was horrible, and I now have a large scar on my stomach because he pierced so high up.

As a fainter, they were able to move me and help me so I avoided getting too faint, and checked on how I felt often. I highly recommend.
