Fantastic experience: Came back for my second tattoo with Elizabeth! I’m always super happy with the process when working with her! Got my first one done with her as well and I’m still so happy with the results. She does amazing art and the tattooing process is always so comfortable. I’ll definitely be back again

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience at Lastport Tattoo. Everybody was very friendly and accommodating. The studio itself is great, very welcoming, relaxing and clean. Jordo was absolutely awesome. I really appreciated how collaborative he made the whole experience. Very communicative and comfortable. I'm extremely happy with my tattoo, it's exactly what I wanted, both in design and quality. Thanks again Jordo.

Fantastic experience: Steve was amazing. He really listened to my requirements and drew a design which ticked all the boxes. All of the team are very welcoming and proffessional. The studio is extremely clean. I felt really well looked after and I LOVE my new tattoo

Negative experience: On Wednesday 14 Jan at 11am we had a booking with Alex. In the emails leading up to it I explained that my friend and I would like to get a small tattoo each, and it's a gift for her 50th. We were not yet 100% sure what we wanted, but I trusted that a tattoo artist will obviously be artistic and can help design something that we like. I also explained that we are in Blenheim for a week, and will have to drive through to Nelson before going back to Wellington. When we got there on time, Alex was busy setting up for someone else. He was rather dismissive of the fact that we had a 2hr drive and told us to come back later. In hindsight I should have ditched the whole idea, but we already paid a deposit, and we were there, so we decided to wait. We then sat around for 2 hours until 1pm, when we got told that someone else will do my friend's tattoo. I got told what I wanted was too technical for her, and we might only do the one. My friend's got done, and Alex eventually told me he can do mine, but we have to come back later again. In hindsight I should have left it there and gone home as it felt like he was doing me a favour. But, this was something cool for the two of us so we went to go sit somewhere and wait. At 3pm we went back and I showed him the attached pictures of what I want. He took some time to design the Africa outline with the H in it, which I was happy with, and eventually came up with the design he did. It was getting late, we still had to get back to Blenheim to the rest of the kids at home to cook dinner, and it looked ok to me, so he did it, I paid and we left. I find myself googling tattoo removal places because honestly, I hate the two chains hanging off the bracelets. It looks out of place. I'm aware that he drew the design and asked me about it, but it's pretty hard to see from a drawing what the final tattoo will look like, and we were getting pressed for time. Very bad combo for getting a tattoo. Overall it has been a poor experience for me. The communication was poor, and the other tattoo artist that was there with the gray ponytail was the one coming to us to apologise for the whole time mix up. I should have ditched my tattoo and come up with my own design as well. Alexs design that was drawn looked ok, but it ended up being symmetrical, and just out of place. A better placement for my kids initials would have been in the bracelet like the example I showed him. That being said, the workmanship of both artists are good and we have no complaints about it. My feedback is to maybe sort out communication, and if bracelets is not your thing, rather tell the client. We paid good money for it, and I felt like we were treated like we should not have been there. I have attached the ideas I showed Alex and the final result.

Fantastic experience: Awesome staff and tattooist Jordon

Fantastic experience: I've got tattooed by Kara and I'm just so in love with the result. Also, it was my first tattoo and I was so nervous, but Kara explained everything so well and made me feel very comfortable. We tried some different variations of my design and Kara gave me advices until I found the one that fitted the best. During the tattoo-process we chatted and had just a lot of fun that I actually forgot about the pain. Such an amazing experience and safe space!

Fantastic experience: A couple days ago I was tattooed by Bex, honestly the work she did with making me feel comfortable and giving clarity of what the process was, was outstanding. Her skills with the needle are phenomenal and I couldn’t be more grateful for how well she did. I can’t comment on the other people’s work as I have no experience, however all the artists there were immensely polite and the whole environment was fantastic, they keep it incredibly clean and hygienic without it feeling sterile. Thanks a million team, I’ll definitely be returning

Fantastic experience: Super salon, j'ai pu me faire tatouer mon premier tatouage par Bex (@hedgebex) il y a 6 mois. Le tatouage a très bien guéri (j'ai acheté un baume de Kawakawa) et n'a pas nécessité de retouches. Très contente, je recommande chaudement Bex !

Fantastic experience: Could not praise the experience any higher! From walking in with an idea to walking out with a Tattoo was just an amazing experience. I already knew I wss in good hands but when I received a phone call a week before my appointment to discuss the design and the customisations to the reference pictures I sent it blew me away in comparison to prior experiences. Can't wait to go back for my next tattoo thanks team and especially Steve for doing such an amazing job!

I have been following Kara, Last Port Nelson for a few years now and I knew from her Amazing mahi she was putting out, that she was the right person to do my full sleeve. When I met Kara I was nervous but she instantly made me feel at ease, with her cool chill vibe. We worked on the sleeve together with both of our ideas until I was happy. I loved that Kara listened to what I wanted and made everything work, she worked endlessly on my sleeve, while creating a safe space and gave me my dream sleeve which I will be forever grateful.Kara is the best. Fantastic experience: I have been tattooed by Kara multiple times I have my whole back done, my arm sleeve and currently in the process of a leg sleeve Kara is friendly, chatty, professional and respectful Kara is also very good and helping you push through those really tough spots. My tattoos are beautiful and I constantly get compliments on them. I always look forward to spending my days with Kara even if it’s being stabbed by hundreds of needles just for the company and banter. I couldn’t recommend Kara enough.

She is all that i am looking for in an artist, Clean. Professional. Fast. Gental. And a total vibe. Negative experience: This review is for Kara at Lasport Tatto - Yesterday I had an appointment with Kara at 2.30pm - luckily I had a friend with me for support because this was to be my 1st tattoo as well as that she witnessed my conversation with Kara. What was supposed to be a fun exciting experience turned out to be an awful one. Kara was so rude and negative it was unbelievable. Everything about my tattoo design I showed her had a negative comment. Kara was so disinterested. Her attitude was shocking. After a 5min discussion she disappeared through the back to trace my given design. By the time she reappeared I knew I had to say something. I told her how I felt and how rude she was coming across. Her response was she had been waiting for me since 12.30pm! I said my appointment was at 2.30pm she replied she "knocked off at 12.30pm" and decided to wait for me... that said it all. Such a weird and horrible experience. My friend and I walked out and I told Kara I would report my experience and ask for another tattoo artist instead. Give Kara a wide berth if you want a good experience!!!!

Negative experience: (This review is for Kara from Lastport) I payed $200 deposit to Kara to work on my tattoo, everything was great when paying but I heard nothing until the day before my tattoo, she mocked up a design that was nothing like what i asked for, she proceeded to tell me what i wanted wasnt even possible.. She refused to change her design to what i wanted, so my options were get a tattoo that was nothing like what i wanted not even in the correct spot or lose my deposit, Well clearly i chose to lose my deposit. Funny thing is the tattoo artist up the road did exactly what i asked for, allowed me to change my design as much as i wanted (barely made any changes as they actualy listened to what i wanted) This woman was arrogant and i greatly recommend using another tattoo artist in Nelson as there are many good ones. Also the design she came up with the day before my appointment looked like she threw something together in 10 mins on photoshop and this was her reason for keeping my deposit. Unprofessional and disrespectful. I personally feel the reason she was so disrespectful was the fact I wanted a Christian tattoo, she was implying the whole time my partner was somehow forcing me to get this tattoo, disgusting and unprofessional. I hope this review loses you business Kara.

Fantastic experience: Got a fantail tattoo by Jordan after tramping on the Richmond Alpine trek. Jordan was super nice, professional, made me feel comfortable, and is highly skilled! Extremely satisfied with how it came out. I got there as soon as they opened and booked a slot for an hour later, so that was really lucky as the place was buzzing with business. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Was ending a vacation in New Zealand when I decided to get a tattoo. The very friendly staff at Lastport were able to fit me in for an appt with Alex. Alex was knowledgeable, thoughtful, and kind! We worked together to come up with an idea of what I could have tattooed on my arm to commemorate my trip. He did an amazing job on the silver fern leaf on my forearm! If I'm ever in New Zealand again and want a tattoo, Lastport will be my first stop!

The whole process when setting up an appointment, the consult and the actual work being done, was great. A comfortable place to have a tattoo done. These people are lovers of their craft. My artist, Elizabeth, talked me through the process step by step and her work is magnificent. I know a few people that have used various artists here, and their experiences have been great.

The whole staff in the shop is very nice, everybody has a few good words to each other. The atmosphere and the environment is just perfect. Highly recommended. Fantastic experience: Oh man this place is so good. I got an awesome flash piece from Steve (super rad artist) and was seriously blown away. While I was in I overheard multiple consults and every time the artists provided great insight, and helped people make the right decisions for their new pieces. Their standards of cleanliness were excellent, and the shop was all in order. Nothing felt sketchy or dirty, it was clinical and precise. The work I got done was perfect, Steve has a great touch, and an unreal form that made the shark I got exceptional. If your looking for a tattoo, you cant go wrong heading in and talking to the artists!!
