Our comment from Tattoo Studios about Star Ink Tattoo:
Star Ink Tattoo: A Masterclass in Artistry and Warmth
Located in Portlaoise, Star Ink Tattoo has established itself as a premier destination for tattoo enthusiasts in Ireland, often cited by clients as one of the best studios in the country. The studio is renowned for its "pure class" atmosphere, where artistic excellence meets an exceptionally welcoming environment. Whether you are a first-timer or a seasoned collector of ink, visitors frequently note that the team treats everyone like family, creating a space that feels more like a reunion with old friends than a standard commercial appointment. This dedication to customer comfort and hospitality is a defining characteristic that keeps clients returning time and time again.
Exceptional Artistry and Professionalism
The quality of work at Star Ink is consistently described as "stunning," "perfect," and "magical." Clients highlight the team as true craftsmen who possess a high level of talent and professionalism. The artists are praised not only for their technical skill but also for their ability to bring a client's vision to life, often delivering results that exceed expectations. From intricate memorial sleeves to precise cover-ups, the studio handles a wide variety of requests with expertise. Reviewers frequently mention specific artists like Amy, T (Te), Pa, Rory, Annemarie, and Pascal, all of whom are celebrated for their distinct styles and collaborative approach to design.
- Memorial and Custom Designs: Highly praised for creating emotional and detailed memorial pieces, such as a sleeve honoring three passed family members.
- Cover-ups and Corrections: Recognized for their ability to transform "messed up" tattoos into beautiful new works, with artists like Te noted for fixing previous bad tattoos perfectly.
- Full Sleeves and Large Pieces: Clients appreciate the patience and skill required for substantial work, with several reviewers currently working on full sleeves with artists like Pa.
A Welcoming and Safe Environment
Beyond the artwork, Star Ink is distinguished by its spotlessly clean facility and the genuine care the staff shows for their clients' well-being. Visitors report feeling completely at ease, with staff going above and beyond to ensure comfort during the tattooing process. The studio is described as organized, friendly, and free of judgment, making it an ideal place for those who might feel nervous about their first tattoo. The positive "craic" and warm interactions mean that clients often leave with more than just a tattoo; they leave with a memorable experience and a sense of belonging.

Every piece she’s done for me has turned out even better than I imagined. The whole team at Star Ink are so welcoming, and the studio always has such a lovely, warm atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. Whether it’s your first tattoo or your tenth, this is the place to go. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my ink!

Fantastic experience: Got nearly all my tattoos here & I couldn’t recommend them enough! All the staff are friendly & helpful! Never make you feel silly/st**pid for wanting to explain how you want your design! All the artists help you feel comfortable & make sure you’re feeling okay while getting inked. One of my favorite places to go! ⭐️✍️
Fantastic experience: Just back from my second visit! Each time I have had a fairly substantial piece worked and truly I can say I am delighted with the result. "T" is a gentleman and certainly chases the detail I request to a T! Wonderful to find a place with genuinely great, courteous and warm staff. I certainly will not be going anywhere else! Oh! Great decor and spotlessly clean!!! I don't think I can promote them anymore in fact! Darren.
Fantastic experience: Unreal people, unreal vibe, just all round class tattoo shop. Went in to get a tattoo off Pa and he was just brilliant. Lovely fella and it was really easy to discuss design changes with him. I'll definitely be back again!
Negative experience: The worst tattoo artists I've ever had in my life, I beg you never to get a volume tattoo from them, These people work very quickly and poorly. This tattoo parlor can't stand any competition, the most negative review. They don't know how to do volumetric tattoos, they work quickly and of poor quality, if you need to do simple stupid tattoos, they can do it, possibly.
