Expérience négative: I DO NOT RECOMMEND, I SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS ABOUT THEIR SEPTUM PIERCING!!! I came here two days ago for a septum piercing. I’ve had my septum pierced before, but it had closed. I was taken downstairs by someone who seemed inexperienced and unprofessional. I wasn’t asked what color jewelry I wanted, and I wasn’t confident the jewelry was properly sterilized. The piercer used a 20–22 gauge and attempted the piercing about five times before getting through. From my past experiences, piercings are usually done once after being told to take a deep breath, but this was done very slowly and repeatedly, which was extremely uncomfortable. She also kept applying Vaseline inside my nostrils. After everything, the piercing ended up lopsided and uneven. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, and I believe new piercers should be properly trained and supervised before working on clients. I left disappointed and uncomfortable. Okay so I just saw the owner’s response Your response was completely false. I never complained about my old septum piercing; I only told you that the ring was removed after a week and that I wasn't sure if it had closed after four months. Yes, you used a 20-gauge needle because the piercer said my septum hole was small, and she applied Vaseline. All you needed to do was take responsibility instead of lying. This is unacceptable. The way my septum piercing looks is the same as how the girl who left a 1-star review about her septum looks. When I complained to the piercer, she said it would correct itself with time and become even. Say something about that then. I don't care about the money, but the fact you chose to lie in your response is diabolical. A simple apology would have gone a long way.

Expérience négative: I recently came into Top Tier for a tattoo on a walk in. Walk-in process was smooth and the artist did a good job and I’m happy with the tattoo itself. However, the environment raised some concerns. I saw another client openly drinking alcohol (multiple shots) before and during her tattoo, and staff appeared aware of it, to the point that when the client asked her daughter for ‘her drink’ while she was in the chair, and her daughter asked ‘what?’ The artist tattooing replied and said ‘vodka’ I also noticed a headrest from a previous client being placed at my station without being sanitized first. I personally really do think you should not tattoo people showing signs of intoxication, let alone someone openly drinking while in the chair. Overall, the work was good by the artist herself, and I left happy with her work and kindness. if anything she was unaware or mostly of the other client. but the cleanliness and professionalism didn’t meet my expectations. And in my opinion for timing, very overpriced. I have gotten tattoos of the same time and detail for genuinely half the price. I understand it is a tattoo shop and I am not one to judge someone’s prices. But ensuring you meet your standards should be a top requirement. I’d recommend going in aware of that.

Expérience fantastique: My daughter wanted her ears pierced and after searching the best reviews, we chose Top Tier. They did great and she didn't even make a peep. The service was fast and clean. The front staff and the piercer were amazing. During the visit I also decided to get my own piercing, and will be back.

Expérience négative: AVOID THIS PLACE FOR PIERCINGS!! For context, ive gotten a total of 23 piercings in my lifetime, (im 26!) so I have a lot of experience getting pierced. Decided to impulsively get a septum piercing done bc my regular piercer doesnt do walk-ins anymore (ily Jaggers ) and I was planning on getting one done this weekend as a nice little treat after a hard week. There was so many red flags at this place, I definitely should've known better. I assumed I would get my piercing done on the same floor as the tattoos, but I was taken downstairs to a less professional looking space. It looked like a basement (we had to pass by a washer and dryer to get to the piercing room). I was asked which size nose ring I wanted. I was not asked about placement, and my anatomy was not assessed to make sure I could suitably get a septum ring. The piercer used a catheter needle, which ive been told is up to health code standard, however ive never been to a reputable place that has used them. Every piercer ive ever been to has done the "breathe in, breathe out" method when piercing me, this place didnt. Which I found very surprising since it really helps keep the person getting pierced, relaxed enough to get thru the pain. I was briefly shown the finished work and I was so excited that I didnt look very close. Pictures were taken and uploaded to their Instagram story of my piercing, however its very very clear it was done improperly even in their photos. The piercing was done very crooked, one side isnt close enough to the tip of my nose, and the other side goes thru the cartilage at the bottom of my nose. It was very painful and bled a good amount even after I had gone home. I feel very confused on why I was allowed to leave the shop with such a badly done piercing. Its quite obvious how crooked it is and any good piercer would've recognized that. Once I got home, I realized it was done very incorrectly and I contacted my usual piercer, as well as a piercing apprentice I am friends with. I was assured that the placement was incorrect. Only after I got home, I checked the reviews and found at least two people complaining of jewlery getting swallowed by their new piercing. In my experience, this is usually due to not putting in bigger jewlery to accommodate for swelling, which is basic piercing knowledge. Ive also seen other reviews talking about improper, or crooked placement. I did get a refund after texting the shop saying I had to take out the piercing. It really sucks bc the piercer is so so so kind and sweet. She was very polite and nice to me and was very sorry about the piercing being wrong. I really debated posting such a harsh review since she was so nice, but unfortunately it seems to be a repeated issue with this shop. Piercing people incorrectly can really mess someone up. Incorrect piercing increases the chance of complications like infection, rejection, or serious injury depending on the piercing. Edit: Ive been assured by Top Tier that their piercers are certified and trained, and their jewlery is standard quality so ive removed parts of my review questioning that fact. However I still cant recommend this shop over other more reliable shops in the city due to my personal experience. I feel like i am lucky this happened to me, rather than someone new to piercings. At least i know how to handle scarring and failed piercings. This could be a much bigger issue for someone inexperienced who doesnt know incorrect placement. I feel as though the shop should be more concerned about poor work than rumors about certification. Especially since they used my private number to send me several paragraphs of text asking me to delete/edit my review, instead of simply defending themselves here and moving on. Good work will speak for itself! And this place does not do good work.

The bar for the piercing is also really short and now the backing of the jewelry pierce is in my ear. I do not recommend as the placement of the piercing was not correct and now has costed me to get it removed and no piercing.

She explained to me all the aftercare with precision and told me to come back if I had any problems (I got the lip piercing, I had one before but lost it). I came back the day later, my lip was pretty swollen and the jewelry was digging inside. She changed it with no cost, even when I wanted to give her something for it. Also, the first I walked out there, I lost my wallet my all my informations inside (like I said, I was on vacation and I’m not from the province of Nova Scotia). She got out of the tattoo shop and help me to find it, she even asked people if they saw it (we found it). Expérience négative: I had an appointment for 4pm. I was told to wait 20 min. I waited an hour and a half. And was told they would have to make my cover up huge. I feel they are a stencil tattoo parlor more so an artist run parlor. It makes a difference. I dont want a stencil. I want art. I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunate. Pricing is very high for also just doing stencils.

From the time I spoke to Emma on the phone to the time that Bonnie was finished with my maple leaf masterpiece, it was a wonderful experience for me. My wife and I loved the shop as well as the welcoming atmosphere and she will be adding some ink herself on our next trip up from Brooklyn. Thank you ladies for a first class tattoo and experience. From pier to Top Tier, it was awesome to have my living passport stamped.
