We were in and out quickly, everything was very clean and sterile, and the woman who swapped her piercing out made her feel comfortable (my daughter was a little nervous). Kate is clearly a genius in her trade and she was nothing short of AMAZING getting me out of the wrong earrings and into the right (affordable) ones. She spent a lot of time talking through the current state of my piercings, my options for moving forward, and pretty much everything to do with my ears and the piercings. She took safety SO seriously and it clearly is the biggest part of her job - making sure she treats her customers safely (second I would assume is giving them bada$$ piercings like she does). I was a very low money client but I was treated like a queen. Y’all just made a customer for life and I recommend EVERYONE who has ANY piercing need to come here. Because they will know what you’re talking about and treat you RIGHT!

Experiencia fantástica: MEDUSA PIERCING! with piercings, you should absolutely be picky about who you're trusting. Amanda provided me with SO much knowledge whenever I consulted about a medusa/philtrum piercing. Made sure I thought things through and slept on it before making a final decision which is extremely important! The day of the piercing I was able to answer any final questions, and she took her time to make sure placement was perfect for my anatomy, while still discussing the "why" behind everything she was doing. I was completely comfortable, and even before the piercing she let me know what to expect. Everything turned out PERFECT and I couldn't be happier with the experience and the trust that I have with my favorite piercer :)

Experiencia fantástica: TL;DR: Katie is an amazing piercer and I'm super happy! Long version: After a rough morning with the toddlers at home, and months of debating if I wanted a piercing and which kind, I finally went to get it done. I was on the verge of tears from the morning, and just in a low energy mood. However, Katie was super awesome, talked me through the earring placement, process, what to do after, let me have a moment to think about it when I almost talked myself out of it, and then gave me a "squish toy" to hold during the piercing. When she finally got the go-ahead from me, she got her game face on, sterilized everything, and one-two pricks and I had a new conch piercing. I'm 4 weeks post-piercing, and the back of the earring actually fell out two days ago - which is why I'm finally leaving this review. Because it looks great, is exactly what I wanted, and, it actually healed about 2-3 days after the piercing (minus two kicks and an elbow to the ear by my toddlers throughout the four weeks, which hurt a lot). All in all, I love it, and am debating when to come see Katie again for another one! Thank you, Katie =)

It smells good, it has beautiful decor and aesthetics (i especially love the coffin shelves and pin striped walls), and the artists and piercers here are such kind people!!! I am going to go out on a limb and say if you are in the upper st clair bethel park mt lebanon surrounding area, PERHAPS EVEN ALL OF PITTSBURGH, this is the best piercing/tattoo shop you could go to. These people take their jobs seriously. They want to see your ID. They wear gloves and masks. They use sterile tools. And even though they take their jobs seriously, they are still so so kind and respectful. I want to give a special shoutout to Kaetlin (hope im spelling it right!) who did my snakebites and septum. Kaetlin is calm, collected, and thorough while also being down to earth. I haven't gotten a tattoo from them yet so I can't speak from that aspect, but I can say next time I do I would go with alter ego. Thank you guys for being a serious gem!!

It fell out a couple weeks later and they were able to get me jewelry that fits better ASAP. They make recommendations but leave the decision up to you, which is amazing, as I find other places can be pushy. Two years later I needed it reopened and experience was super smooth. Cartilage piercing was also a breeze!

Experiencia negativa: I got a cartilage piercing in my left ear almost a year ago. i’ve always had problems with it and the way they pierced it, it sits weird on my ear. it doesn’t look like a usual cartilage piercing. they also charged me so much for just one. the ball that they used to pierce it also got stuck in my ear. they are nice here but don’t get your cartilage pierced unless you want endless issues with it.

They were warm and friendly, something I look for in the customer service experience. The shop owner ultimately pierced my ears but prior to that, she walked me through what she thought the best placement was based on what I stated I wanted. She was extremely knowledgeable and educational. She also gave me a break when needed. Overall, my time was great! and I absolutely recommend. Oh, and the place was extremely clean and sterile.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been going to alter ego since 2008 when it was known as z spot. Got my first tattoo from Red and my first piercing from Dave. When I finally had the opportunity to go again after it was alter ego I went to Adam when he was just an apprentice. Adam has grown so much, especially with his black and gray, but he is extremely versatile and does amazing color pieces! He works extremely hard on placement, giving the client what they want and is a joy to be tattooed by! He has a soft touch so I would recommend him if you're a first timer and worried about pain! Jess, his mentor, is a goddess in the tattoo world! She is also extremely versatile, amazing at horror pieces and has been doing my sleeve for the past couple months and I love it more every time I look at my in progress piece! She excels at bringing your piece to life! Katelin, the owner, is an amazing piercer! Haven't had the pleasure of getting any new piercings but her or Amanda, the other piercer, who just pierced my daughters ears for the first time are extremely thorough and patient in the process! Amanda made it so easy for my 13 year old and she's excited to get more! AJ, the newest addition to alter ego is Jessica's apprentice! He has done several pieces on my friend and has an amazing artistic eye! Once I finish my pieces with Adam and Jess I will be getting something from AJ! I would recommend him for anime pieces, feminine black and gray and honestly anything you could imagine! He's quirky and fun to be around but also versatile from what I've seen! Tldr: anyone in this shop you choose to get tattooed by, Jess, Adam or AJ will take the time to work with you, give you a piece you'll love and make it an amazing memory making you want more! And if you choose to get pierced by Katelin or Amanda, they'll take the time to make you comfortable, add an ease to the process and give you the perfect piercing! The atmosphere is fun, relaxed and leaves you wanting more! No one in this shop will disappoint you with whatever you're looking to get!

Experiencia negativa: I’m an older woman. I have four piercings, two in each ear lobe. Three of them had the skin in the back of the ear grow closed. I called on the phone they said just stop in. I did. I sat there for more than a half an hour and no one approached me. I could hear the girls talking in the back like i wasn’t even there. I guess an old ladies money is no good to them. I left and went to Pyramid Tattoo in Bridgeville. Leana, not sure i spelled her name right said she could fix me up in minutes. She did! I was there maybe 15 minutes tops. All my piercings are open and it was completely painless and not that expensive. Alter Ego needs lessons on customer service at the least, they should go to school for business.

I had the pleasure of meeting Amanda who not only got the improperly placed earring out but she also put in a nice hoop into my already very ANGRY EAR! If I could give her 100 stars I would. She was super clean, and actually took us just a bit later than usual because it was one of my daughter's birthdays so that we could make dinner in the same night.
