Experiencia fantástica: I stopped in during a special Austin FC event and ended up getting tattooed by Chris. He was awesome to work with — funny, laid back, and easy to talk to. He even noticed my other tattoos and we chatted about his traditional-style work, which he clearly specializes in. The tattoo itself was quick, clean, and came out really well. The linework is crisp and exactly what I was hoping for. Chris gave me his card before I left, and I definitely plan on going back to him for future pieces. Overall, a great experience from start to finish.

Experiencia fantástica: Sarah in the upstairs piercing area was absolutely fantastic. I came in because my tongue piercing was causing pain, and I was also having ongoing issues with my eyebrow piercing—there were bumps that had been there for months and wouldn’t go away. Sarah immediately identified the problems with both piercings, clearly explained what was going on, and walked me through proper aftercare. Just one week later, the issues have improved significantly. Unfortunately, I did have to remove the eyebrow piercing, but the irritation and bumps have gone down a lot. She also helped me choose and purchase a new tongue ring and took the time to thoroughly educate me on aftercare—something I sadly never received from the other places I’ve been pierced. It’s now clear that I was previously given incorrect information, and those piercers lacked the knowledge and attention to detail that Sarah has. Sarah was patient, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. She made sure I fully understood what was happening and how to properly care for my piercings moving forward. Because of this experience, I will not be returning to the other places I’ve gone to in the past. Thank you, Sarah, for your expertise, honesty, and excellent customer care. You’ve earned my trust, and you will definitely be the one doing my next body piercing.

Experiencia fantástica: i had my first ear piercings here and i was super scared but joe was very reassuring. a painless experience and my ears have been healing great following his advice! piercings were 50 something dollars which i feel like us a reasonable price. i couldn’t recommend more!!!

Experiencia negativa: Annoying. Don’t go to True Blue Tattoo for a naval/ belly button piercing, when you’re under 18, expecting to come out of that place with a piercing. This lady spent 15 mins explaining everything that could go wrong and to not get this piercing, instead of simply saying “i don’t pierce people under 18” they should have this written on their website, along with info for parents to know prior to arriving, so a discussion could be made about if it is right to the piercing. Instead, we drove 30 mins, payed for expensive parking downtown, waited 30 mins, for her to have a whole lecture about not getting a belly piercing under 18. Super annoying, and never going back.

Experiencia fantástica: This was such a a great experience! My friends and I just walked in one night a little after 8:00, while we were in Austin. My friend and I got outter conch piercings and another friend got a helix piercing. Joe was so great and calmed my nerves! I have had piercings done before but this was definitely the easiest. He was very nice, funny, and walked through a little meditation session so that it was really relaxing. They had a really great selection of jewelry. With tattoo and piercing it came to a little over $80. #GoKingJoe

Experiencia fantástica: Was in Austin for a couple days and wanted to get my ears pierced on a whim. Walked into this shop and was told to go upstairs for piercings. Was greeted by Joe upstairs, who explained my piercing options to me, the procedure and the sterilization process. Once I agreed to do the piercings, he took his time in ensuring the piercings were as even as they could be and was extremely helpful in calming my nerves- when it came time for the piercing I was so relaxed, I didn’t feel a thing but some light pressure. Following the piercing, Joe took quite a bit of time explaining the after care options to me and provided me with a direct contact email for any after care questions. I had absolutely no pain that evening and being a side sleeper, even slept through the night with no pain in the morning. It’s now just over a week since I got my piercings done- I’ve followed all of Joe’s aftercare instructions and have not had any pain, swelling or inflammation at all this past week- the healing is amazing. The piercing from Joe was such a great experience, I will definitely stop back for another next time I’m in Austin!

Experiencia fantástica: Got my nose Tapered by Sarah years ago and I remember her being kind. Recently got my naval piercing from Tita who was also very patience and knowledgeable. Called today with a million questions about my piercing and the gentleman on the phone was so patience and knowledgeable. Experiencia fantástica: This is the ONLY place to get your piercings done. I have worked with both Sarah and Joe and every time it is the most thoughtful, well informed and safe environment. Each time i've gone in to get a piercing they've let me faff around as long as I want to figure out what jewelry I want and where. As a child of the Claire's piercing days, it makes me overjoyed to see folks take this work so seriously. Everything i've ever gotten done has healed beautifully with literally no pain during the process. I hop off the table excited about what i'm going to get done next. Experiencia fantástica: I was in town for a tattoo appointment that ultimately had to be rescheduled and I ended up randomly walking in to True Blue Tattoo. I had the best experience. I had been wanting to change my nose jewelry for a while, Sarah was so helpful. She took the time to talk over all my options pros and cons of each piece, helped me decide what would look best on my face, even went so far as to walk me through taking and on off my jewelry and things I could buy to make my piercing care easier. I often leave places I’ve bought jewelry in the past not feeling truly in love with my pieces and even helpless when it comes to changing jewelry, complete opposite experience. 10/10 would drive back to Austin.

Experiencia fantástica: Had my nose pierced by Sarah when I was in town for ACL in 2023. She answered all my questions and has a cool vibe, putting me at ease for my first nose piercing. I returned a year later to get the ring installed. Joe helped out, made it quick and easy. Nice selection of stones and metals. I recommend checking this place out!

Experiencia positiva: Usually i have a fine time here with the other lady that handles the piercing area but i came in to buy a new pair of gauges and there was a new lady I haven’t seen here before at the front was kinda rude… I took my gauge out just to show her the style I didn’t hand it to her or anything and she’s like “oh um im gonna have you put that back in” and essentially called me gross for doing that. She comes out with 6gauges when I said 2 gauges and im like “oh my bad I meant 2g!” And she goes back and gets the other pair acting like I’ve done her a disservice by asking for the correct pair. Then I ask her if she can take Apple Pay, she says yes, but it’s behind the counter so I ask her if she’d like to take my phone or if she wants me to come around the counter and she’s like “um I guess you can come around”… yall need to keep the other girl around that works the piercing area cause she was WAY nicer

She did a dermal on my face but went the extra mile to anodize the base to match the rest of the gold jewelry I have like girl??!? you didn’t have to do that but I absolutely love that she did. She really helped me understand why the original placement I wanted wouldn’t last AND took her time to make sure my base was in perfectly so it can last! It saddens me that I got my piercing on vacation because I would absolutely LOVE to have her as my main go to piercer. The vibes were overall ✨immaculate✨ 100/10 would go again next time I am in town. My best friend got a tattoo while there as well and the tattoo artists were so kind and made us feel so welcomed! Sarah was so so lovely and kind that I ended up changing several pieces in that ear. Nothing was too much trouble for her and I enjoyed our chats. I was mutilated at Platinum Ink and came here to get my piercings fixed and they just helped me so much. I’ll never go anywhere else. I recommend Sarah and Laura but they are all amazing and care about you before money or anything else.

Experiencia fantástica: i got my conch done by sarah and she was so nice and gentle, it didn’t hurt much at all and the whole experience was made more soothing with her energy and expertise. the wait was a little long, i had come in around 9 and there were only two others before me but i still waited an hour before i was serviced, so i recommend coming in at an earlier time. in total i spent $100, with the piercing itself being $40 and the jewelry $55 + tax.

Experiencia positiva: Nice setup, clean, and at 1pm only 1 customer being tattooed with 3 artists in building, no other customers. We ask for a clear potion bottle tattoo with a dagger. Simple tattoo and plenty of reference tattoos to make a sketch for someone wanting their 1st ever tattoo. Did the artist even attempt to help us... nope.... making money must not be what he's there for. I won't refer anyone here just because of how unprofessional, unhelpful, and overall the unwant to do what his job is.

Experiencia negativa: Walked in tonight at 9:22p and asked for a piercing. One of the guys said "we're actually closing. You'll have to come back tom" Um...closed and closing are two different things and your website says you close at 10p. Do better. Rating solely based on the their unwillingness to honor their posted hours.

Experiencia fantástica: Burke did an awesome job. I had no idea what j wanted but had a general idea I wanted something Texas and Austin related. We talked a bit about my other pieces and what I liked and he guided me to my pinup cowgirl princess. I added the Old 97’s because they’re an awesome band Texas. I’d definitely recommend this shop and particularly Burke.

Joe was our piercer and he was amazing. Very patient and knowledgeable making the whole experience fun. We will be coming back to see Joe for any piercings in the future!

Experiencia fantástica: Was recommended by the hostel staff to come out here during my stay in Austin to get tattooed up. Sky was professional but friendly at the same time. She did a good job with my 2 small pieces as shown in the photos below. Definitely not pushy or demanding when I needed to adjust myself as I have knee problems at times post 2 major knee surgeries. The shop is spacious and albeit not a chatty and upbeat vibe (every shop differs and also considering the day and time I visited), it was very well ventilated which made my tattoo experience a comfortable one. She applied the stick on bandage which I kept on my skin for 3 nights as I had a real busy travel schedule to end my month long vacation and my skin is healing well right now!

Experiencia negativa: I got my tattoo last week October 27, and it has not been healing well at all. My best friend and I got the same tattoo, hers in black, mine in red. The first day I woke up with my ink spread everywhere, and my tattoo looked like it was pitted. I thought maybe i should just trust the healing process but over time it’s just scabbing worse. The bruised skin has stayed for the past 6 days and I know that it is going to scar in the long haul. However, my best friends tattoo has been healing perfectly fine. Not sure if it’s an issue with not clean needles, or the brand of ink they used. This is not my first tattoo, and all my other ones have healed absolutely perfect using the same aftercare process. Do not recommend.

Experiencia negativa: look how many tatoo removal places they are now because people regret getting a tattoo plus I’m telling it is a lot harder to get a job when your going up against UT students who don’t have tattoos and people where long sleeve because they have to cover there tattoos. The tattoos also fade with time again. There are amazing churches in Austin that can break that tattoo spirit and start helping the community or volunteer.

Experiencia fantástica: Sky is an amazing artist. Everything from conception, vision, to execution. She was great at listening to the elements that were important to me and came up with a custom finished piece you won't find anywhere else. The line work she accomplished really blew my mind. The fine detail in the cutter ship...not sure how she did it. I'm very proud of this piece and I hope she is too.

My friends and I wanted to get a tattoo on 6th street and we saw plenty of seedy shops, but me being the planner I am wanted to at least look for well reviewed shops and True Blue definitely deserves the rank of highest rated! We got there around 10:00, and left around 12:00; browsing, paperwork, and setup including! And despite the speed, the artists were super passionate and perfectionists about their work and had super honest and reasonable prices. This place is a gem!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I was shopping around for a good yet reasonable tattoo studio and decided to roll with True Blue in downtown Austin, Texas. It's a tribal bear Paw and the artist named Cory is doing a wonderful job. I didn't want just anyone doing it so I researched a Lil bit between tattoo shops and I am glad I came here. The tattoo is a colored tattoo and looks amazing to me. So far so good. I definitely recommend True Blue and Cory here on Red River.

Han took our desires and created the perfect tattoo. He’s an amazing artist, super kind, and a wonderful person to work with. He was patient and gentle. It was both of our first tattoos and I couldn’t have picked a better artist. His line work is dainty, perfectly imperfect, and healed beautifully. I can’t recommend him enough!

You can tell he wants you to have the best experience possible because he actually takes time to listen to what you are feeling and explains every step until your are comfortable. The facility was extremely clean and sterile. Try it out: you will not be disappointed!

Experiencia fantástica: Went to get some finger tattoos as a spur of the moment walk in and had the pleasure of meeting Sky! I felt so comfortable, and was able to have super fun conversation. Sky made sure my tattoo was exactly what I wanted, and was extremely precise and thorough despite it being a small non detailed design. Artists like Sky make me know I can trust them with any future big projects I may want. Super excited to visit again and hopefully get many more tattoos by Sky!

He was very professional and sort of nice (I told him the best jokes and he shot them down). Kidding, he’s a nice guy and makes you feel right at home. The other artists were very welcoming as well! She spent 15 mins with me on the phone going into detail about tattoo cover ups, the colours to use, the time frame it takes by which to properly cover it up ~ etc etc. Wish I had of gone here! The assistant who was handling check in & jewelry selection was very easy to talk to, and she helped me pick something good, based off the style of my other earrings. Joe the piercer came out to say hi & make sure the piercing was doable in the spot I had in mind before we continued. He is very relaxing to talk to, and clearly is very passionate & knowledgeable about piercing. Great experience!

Sara was so knowledgeable and kind. We walked in and there was a client ahead of us. She did a quick consult and set realistic wait time expectations. The shop was very clean and she explain the sterilization process as well. She helped pick jewelry, was very informative and very precise. Piercings look great and I couldn’t be happier. Follow up care instructions were very thorough and I am confident that I picked the perfect person to trust my body with.

Experiencia fantástica: Honestly I wasn't sure about what place to get my septum done until i found this place. It was highly praised online so I gave it a shot. My piercer joe guided me throughout the whole process and recommended what jewelry to pick incase i wanted it noticeable or not. When I got it done, I was super pleased with how it turned out, hurt like hell since it was my first septum but totally worth it. At the end joe gave me his email incase of any concerns or questions i had i could easily ask him. I'm most likely gonna come back in the nearby future.

When it came time to switch out my stud for a ring like I wanted, I went back and Laura was just as awesome! Experiencia fantástica: I have had so many piercings and several tattoos and I’ve never had as positive an experience as I did with Joe. I’ve procrastinated getting a specific piercing for almost 10 years simply because I didn’t want to deal with rude/judgmental people at the tattoo shop. My friends and I decided to walk in and get piercings on one random Saturday and we were blessed that Joe was there. Throughout the entire experience he was friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He never once made me or my friends feel unwelcome/burdensome. To top it off, my conch piercing ended up being the least painful and best healing piercing I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to see Joe for more piercings in the future.
