Experiencia fantástica: Feeling very lucky that my daughter and I were able to secure appointments with Gianna during our recent trip to New Orleans. I've been thinking about getting a fleur-de-lis tattoo for years, and Gianna's personalization of one of her flash designs turned out better than I had even imagined!! The fine line design and shading is so perfect that every time I see it I have to remind myself that it is actually *real*! My daughter got a small tattoo on her back (her first) which was also perfect. Can't say enough good things about Gianna, and this shop. Easy to work with, very welcoming and accessible, top notch artists. I'll be back!

Blown away by Henry’s recommendations, creativity, and shrimp themed karaoke. One of the best tattoo experiences we’ve had.

Experiencia fantástica: I got a double nose piercing and a jewelry change by Heather and she did an absolutely wonderful job. She was extremely thorough with placement and very patient with adjusting placement before piercing. She was very cleanly and changed her gloves multiple times during the appointment. She made sure all jewelry was sterilized on the spot and thoroughly cleaned my nose. She had a light touch and made sure to explain everything she was doing before and during the piercing. She gave clear aftercare instructions along with an aftercare card marked with the measurements of my jewelry, type of jewelry and what to ask for when I need to downsize on my pushpin. On top of it all she has amazing customer service and is overall so sweet. I would 10/10 recommend her to anyone looking to get a piercing.

What sets Henry apart? He’ll tell you straight up if your idea isn’t gonna stand the test of time. He’s got an eye for what works and isn’t afraid to keep you from making a “forever” mistake. Honest, sharp, and always got your back—literally. Don’t expect some uptight shop, either. The whole crew is crazy friendly, zero ego, and straight up welcoming. Walk in, and you feel like you’ve known them for years. This was just Round 1 on my dragon, and I trust Henry with every dip and swipe of ink. Can’t wait to get back in the chair and finish what we started. Plus, you gotta see their restroom. Proper.

Experiencia fantástica: My boyfriend, his dad, and I got tattoos with the “Get what you get” at Downtown Tattoo NOLA last weekend and it was a great experience from start to finish! My artist was Henry and my boyfriend’s was Gianna (don’t remember my boyfriend’s dad’s but he was great too!) and they were all so sweet, professional, and great at what they do. Definitely recommend you stopping in to check them out while you’re in town. I will be back next year for sure.

Experiencia negativa: Go right down the street a half block on the left you’ll find electric ladyland you’ll thank me later THIS establishment is a absolute joke and a rip off And they are highly abusive towards women and women who know what they want and stand their ground and won’t be bullied into the artists vision! Was told repeatedly my tattoo was not an option but he would draw me one. I didn’t like it and he got volatile! I tried to remove myself twice from convo so he could calm down. The calmer I was the more irate he got. I went down the street and paid half for the exact tattoo I wanted no problems! I was standing next to three other women in my group but had any of them been a man, he never would have spoke to me or treated me this way. Do yourself a favor and walk on by this place!

Experiencia negativa: Way over priced. I got a 1 1/2 inch tattoo behind my ear. Very small and they charged me almost $200 that only took 20 mins to do. Didn’t care that I am local.. I’m also not entirely satisfied with the outcome. After taking a closer look and really thinking about what I got and what I wanted. I asked for a Native American feather that came out looking like a leaf. Will not return. I will get somebody else to fix it.

Experiencia fantástica: 100% RECOMMEND!!! While visiting Nola from Arkansas my boyfriend & I were looking into tattoo shops. I came across Downtown Tattoos. Upon entering the shop, we were greeted right away at the door. Where we then scheduled our appointments for the next day (they do take walk-ins, there were multiple while we were there.) My personal style preference is fine line (im a perfectionist lol) so i was looking for someone with amazing line work. Gianna went above & beyond to make my experience amazing! She printed me a couple mark ups in different sizes for me to look at. I couldn’t be happier with how my tattoos turned out! She was so kind & very easy to talk to. My boyfriend, Tyler chose a large bird with script “Here Am I, Send Me” He came in with some inspo of what he wanted the bird to look like. Jon was quick to make suggestions/alterations to the design to give the bird more detail. His line work & detailed shading is awesome! Tyler is more than happy with how his tattoo turned out. I’m going to upload our pictures! & a HUGE thank you to Downtown Tattoos & Piercings! Gianna & Jon thank you for making our tattoo experience amazing! I would recommend them to any friend or Nola visiter looking to get a tattoo!

Experiencia fantástica: If you are deciding weather or not to come here based off the 1 star reviews. Please be advised that the promised BUTTCRACK and Pubes is false. All pants were well secured. On our last day in New Orleans me and my wife decided to go get Tattoos. We spent most of the late evening hours traveling and calling shops. Each one either generally unpleasant over the phone or saying no time available despite being several hours from close. Our last location was this place. A pleasant voice over the phone gave us hope we had finally found the spot. Arriving an hour before we weren't turned away. They were honest about what could be done in that time and even offered other times over the following days to complete the design we came in with. This didnt work as it was our last day. Just when it seemed like all was lost my wife and I checked to see if our second idea would work. The staff worked with us and made it happen while simultaneously offering to draw up our first idea and have it ready the next time we came down. What really sticks with me outside of the excellent customer service, pleasent conversation, and amazing tattoo is what my artist (Scott) told me, "Get what you want", an obvious concept but it meant alot. I was struggling with editing what I wanted to fit time constraints. Making it smaller, trying to change features, etc... I totally forgot to think of myself and realize this will be on me forever. I could tell he cared about giving me exactly what I envisioned so I left that night happy. This was 2 days ago and honestly I dont see myself getting tattoos anywhere else. Im still staring at it surprised how well it turned out. What I had in my head is now on my body. I am so appreciative to the staff for opening their doors to me and play wife. We will definitely be back to get our first concept and grab one of those cool custom toilet seats.

Experiencia fantástica: I was visiting New Orleans a few months ago, My girlfriend and I took a spontaneous trip to get out of Atlanta for a bit when we had some downtime at work. After a few days of hanging out in town, I started to get the itch for a new tattoo and I stumbled upon downtown tattoos, it was a few minute walk from the Airbnb. Such an awesome shop! The day I discovered them they were renovating their downstairs and weren’t fully open. However, I met Jon who was doing some stuff on his day off around the shop, and he actually said he could give me a tattoo if I wanted one. I was amazed at how nice and inviting everyone at the shop was, I was just a random walk-in and they treated me like family. Originally, I was just going to get something small to medium sized so I could get in and out of there however hanging out and explaining what I wanted, Jon said he really wanted to take his time and make it dope. And that’s exactly what he did, It was such a nice and fun/relaxing day just hanging out and talking to other artist/customers and even met the owner who was around that day as well, Jon took his time drawing and editing until we were both stoked on the final result. All in all, it was a great experience from start to finish. I would recommend this shop to anyone visiting New Orleans. Im looking forward to coming back and getting more work done here.

After explaining to Pearl what we were looking for, she introduced us to Big Bad Jon. We showed him a pic of our sweet departed pup Atticus and although it was after 11:00 pm, Jon promised he’d go home and study, so to be sure and capture Atti’s essence. Well, long story short he knocked it out of the park. My tat was first, and when my wife saw how realistic it was she immediately teared up. Hers was next and just as lifelike as mine; in fact, they were like twins! We couldn’t be happier with our choice of Downtown Tattoos; massive thanks to Jon and the rest of the krewe! If you’re in New Orleans and thinking about getting some ink, don’t hesitate on Frenchmen Street!!

Terry do a full sleeve cover for me and when we were done with that one we moved on to my other arm and his work is one of a kind could not be anymore happier with the out come. My daughter had Jim tattoo her and she loved the experience and already wants him to do more on her. Terry is now working on a memorial piece on my wife’s shoulder for her mom and she is blown away by the detail he is putting into her piece. From the second you walk in, you’re greeted and surrounded by real, authentic art, artists, and professionalism. It’s been many years of ink on this old gal and I’m constantly getting asked where I go, because everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) loves my ink. They quickly learn getting this quality of work requires a flight or two. Not once have I ever walked out of there without the biggest smile! I tell Mr. Terry what my scrambled ideas are and he somehow “just nails it” every time. Quality work, authentic humans, and I won’t stop coming. And neither will my friends. It's only been a few months but every single person in my family now has some more than one of his pieces on them. Yes, his work is dope but he's a good person and GETTING the tattoo is just as important to me as HAVING the tattoo. I'll be seeing him again soon... and again after that too. Bree. I wish I was half as cool as her. Again, GETTING the piercing is as important to me as HAVING it. I recently got my third piercing by her. I'm getting a bit older and pain isn't as fun as it used to be but getting stabbed up by her is kind of a fun experience still. She knows just where to place the piercing to make it look good and suggested the right size jewelry. Downtown Tattoos and Piercing are keeping me regal. Six stars.

Experiencia fantástica: Been to downtown twice to see Jon Sciano, very personable guy that does awesome work. Gave me a pretty much a full tour of the studio and gallery my first time visiting. Both tattoos turned out great, and both are pretty big pieces so I wouldn’t call the cost an unreasonable amount. Jon took great care of me, and the pain was minimal, even for a skinny guy getting a rib piece and one that went onto the collarbone, he didn’t have a heavy hand. I’m sure I’ll be back for more.

While I'm still nervous to start, she took her time, explained the process, and let me know she would be there whenever I am ready. Experiencia negativa: I stopped into this tattoo shop knowing every place has a minimum, which I completely understand. I asked if I could get two small tattoos — a wrist tattoo and a tiny finger tattoo — together to meet their minimum. I even explained that at another shop, I once got a small $5 finger tattoo along with a larger wrist tattoo to reach the minimum. Before I could finish, one of the artists yelled across the room, “A five-dollar tattoo doesn’t exist,” in a rude tone. I wasn’t asking for a discount — I was offering to meet their policy in a reasonable way. The lack of professionalism made me feel like, no matter the price, the quality of the work or the experience would have been cheap. I chose to leave rather than spend my money in a negative environment. - my budget was well above your minimum. Bad attitudes and lack of comprehension seems to be an issue here.

Experiencia negativa: One star isn't low enough. Please heed my cautionary tale and avoid this shop like the plague. (Unless you want the most expensive and worst quality tattoo of your life.) My group of friends and I were attending an event in Nola and thought it would be fun to get a small commemorative tattoo while we were in town. This shop was close to where we were staying and had a reasonable online presence. So we booked an appointment a few weeks in advance and sent them our art. They approved the art and we put down a $100 deposit each. They said it would be another $25-$50 the day of the appointment. We arrived early for our appointment and the place was absolutely packed. The entire space was filled with beds of people getting tattoos. (Less than a foot between each bed.) They presented us with the stencil they'd made from our art and it had been simplified quite a bit, but was still true to the original line work. So we agreed to proceed. They split our group between two “artists”. They applied the stencils. The placement was good and the stencil looked decent. So we all got the tattoo. When they had us check them after they were done we couldn't accurately do so, because they had someone on a bed getting tattooed in front of the mirror. So we all just trusted that they had followed the stencil. (Big mistake.) They charged us another $50 each, and we all tipped $40 per tattoo. Then we left. About 15 minutes later they called us and said we had been undercharged and we still owed another $50 each. So we went back and paid again. Then we all went back to our rooms and compared our tattoos. They all look completely different from each other, despite being from the same exact stencil. They vary from being mildly misproportioned to completely missing lines. So we all paid $200+ each for the worst tattoos any of us has had. The whole interaction and final product feel like a complete scam. They seem to prey on tourists. Now we're all going to have to go get them fixed or covered by a competent tattoo artist. Overall it was a very disappointing and scummy experience. I plan to leave as many accurate reviews in as many places as possible to help others avoid this awful establishment. Do not go here. They do not care about anything, but your money. They should be ashamed of themselves. (I'm pointing at you Jason.) Here's a photo of the art we sent, my tattoo, and my partner's tattoo. I would've included the stencil as well, but they don't allow photos inside. Both mine and my partner's tattoo were done by the same person using the same stencil. The discrepancies and mistakes are blatantly obvious. The photos speak for themselves. Please save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. I sure wish I had, because my tattoo is atrocious. Beware of these swindlers. ***We're not scared of being in a crowded room. We're just aware of the risks associated with blood born pathogens in such close proximity to strangers. Thanks for not addressing the actual issue (subpar tattoos) in your response though. It just confirms that you aren't actually concerned with the quality of your work. So thanks for proving my point for me. Also, perhaps you could've done the job you were paid for in a professional manner, and I wouldn't have to write you a 20 page review.***

Your lack of ability to respond to any of the other issues that existed is about as thorough as your ability to accomplish simple line work. In fact the "open concept" is the least of my concerns, but you decided to use that as a way to put me down instead of actually addressing any of the real issues here. What about your inability to understand how the bill you are charging works? No one here is a warrior. I am just an average person who thought that working with your shop in an effective and professional manner would produce results of the same caliber. It's funny that you say I haven't spent much time in "good" tattoo shops, is this implying that yours is "good"? I have been in many different shops both open and with stalls. I've been to outdoor events that showed more organization and care to detail than you guys do. So if you want to try and turn your failures around and try to place them on me, by all means go ahead champion of the keyboard. Experiencia fantástica: I could not recommend Bree more, she was the best piercer I've ever been to and I have over 15 piercings! She took her time lining up my second nose piercing to the one I already had, and they are perfectly symmetrical. She measured with a tool to make sure it was an exact match. She kept everything super clean and the actual piercing process was so quick and painless that I didn't realize the needle had even gone through. She was overall super sweet, quick, and made the process as painless as possible. The best piercer ever!!!

Experiencia fantástica: Husband and I went in as walk-ins to get tattoos. We were immediately greeted with a smile, and the customer service was top tier. They were able to get us both in right then. They worked with us on what we wanted, what our budget was, etc. We both got amazing tats by Jon and Jeremy. Husbands was a custom piece, and they kept us within our budget. The entire experience took about 2 hours for both of us. HIGHLY recommend this place!

Experiencia fantástica: Got my first tattoo done with Erick Mendivil and it couldn’t have gone better. He’s super chill, easy to talk to, and his attention to detail shows in every part of the piece. He knew exactly how to place it so it flows naturally with my forearm and movement. The art and design came out even better than I imagined, truly brought it to life. Appreciate it a bunch Erick!

I showed him an idea of what I wanted and he started to freehand the idea and made it come to life. Henry loves what he does and it shows!

While it wasn't my intent to get a free touch up, I GREATLY appreciate it & think it speaks volumes to guarantee your work....even 3 years later. Ok so kind of a mixed review & I'll preface with saying: my two visits here were like 2 years apart. I came with friends while visiting in 2022 (I think) and got a get whatcha get from the machine tattoo. I don't have the highest expectations when I do these (its not my first or last lol) & its usually a commemorative, travel mommento of sorts. Its one of my lesser favorites though. I don't remember a ton about the artist so he very well may have moved on or just been visiting but the tattoo itself is a bit blown out & upside down lol that is somewhat my fault too, I suppose as I OK'd it but the more I looked after it was def supposed to be the other direction. HOWEVER, I came for a piercing after moving to the area last year and it was an amazing experience! I mean, it hurt....but when a needle goes through your skin its gonna hurt. But the HEALING process has been amazing as someone with notoriously bad luck with piercings! Can't share pics as it's in a area but the piercer was super professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and put me at ease despite the intimate location. Pic is from recently, so 3 years old now. One best friend got some finer line tarot tattoos from another artist that turned out well, aside from her allergy to the wrap. And my other best friend got a piercing as well, same location, and had nothing but positive experiences with the shop & healing process

Experiencia fantástica: Update: I revisited Downtown tattoo with my fiance. Another wonderful experience with Dylan and Kevin! I would highly recommend Jeremy if you are into fine line, black and white tattoos, which are his specialty! He took his Time to make sure every aspect of the tattoo exceeded expectations. He made a 4+ hour tattoo experience easy to sit through as he kept the conversation moving the whole time. Asked to sit facing the window so you can watch all the pedestrians tripping on the curb as they walk by; it’s hilarious and takes your mind off of the pain!

He did my large shin piece in 1.5 hours. Like cmon! Dude is fast and flawless. The staff was so kinda and warm, you can tell they all really gel and work as a team, kudos to the whole gang. I’m in LOVE with this piece, it was born out of a really hard season and it was beautiful to hurt one more time and be left with something so beautiful to heal. ❤️‍ i can’t thank you enough Dylan, seriously. He did great on my large forearm fern, which is my first large tattoo. Price was also super reasonable! They have tons of cool flash as well. Would not hesitate to come back in the future and definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for a sick tattoo.

Very knowledgeable for tattoos and piercings. Never mind driving the hour and a half to get work done! If you are in New Orleans, it's definitely the place to go!! Experiencia fantástica: Jim did amazing job. He did all this in 3.5 hours I made him work without a break. The front desk today was great. I had sent in inspiration and meet with Jim previously to discuss what I wanted. The desk lady that day was rude. When she called to confirm my appointment she was rude. She called the next day and said my friend had rescheduled my appointment for a different day and argued with me a bit when I assured her that if I had someone to speak to her for me I would have used them before hand and not to reschedule my appointment especially taking it as a third hand party, later she admitted it was her mistake and she meant to call someone else. My friend suggested I come see Jim for my tattoo and I'm glad I followed her advise.

The staff made me feel welcomed and seen. Erick was my artist. I called a week ahead to let him know my idea. When I showed up for my appointment, he had 4 sketches ready. We worked together to decide on the design, placement, and size. He is professional, talented, and kind. I appreciated the way he spoke to me, checking in throughout the session and keeping me updated on the process. My tattoo turned out great (as you can see). Experiencia fantástica: As with most tattoo shops, especially ones that take walk-ins in a tourist area, the front desk staff can be a little abrasive intimidating. Once you get past that rough edge the staff is super awesome! They were patient with me when I couldn’t get the artist I wanted. My artist ended up being Jim and he had no problems tattooing a cliche New Orlean’s voodoo doll on my ribs. I appreciate his patience and understanding especially when things started getting ticklish! I have a lot of tattoo time with many different artists and I was ecstatic to have an artist that conversed with me. He told me he gets in trouble for talking too much but I couldn’t be happier about it. I came geared up with headphones to keep myself distracted but there was no need. He kept me company and made me feel comfortable. Unfortunately for the review, we didn’t get a photo to share but I’m okay with that. 3 of us got the same tattoo and they were okay to tattoo the original design by my fiance. Thank you so much for accommodating our request.

Made an appointment the day before, walked in, and my artist, Kevin, already had a rough draft based off the very rudimentary description I gave the shop manager: "party shrimp, sunglasses, holding a drink." I showed him a reference photo and described my desired changes. Within 15 minutes, he whipped up a brand new, perfect, rendition. Will be back.
