They are also consistent in their work and the artists that are available. We have since been back 3-4 times & I can see coming back in the near future. I love the family environment and chill atmosphere. 10/10

Positive experience: Took my daughter to get her belly button pierced and the staff was friendly and professional. It only took a few minutes and we were walk-ins. She had a great experience! My problem is after care customer service/questions. There is no way to speak with anyone as the business only uses a text messaging service. They may or may not respond. They responded to the initial text but none of the follow up texts of questions. The business should have a main contact line and maybe each artist should give their clients their contact information. As a business, there should always be someone available to speak with customers within a reasonable timeframe. Other than this the experience was good and the establishment was very clean.

Good customer service nowwwwee the price was a little crazyyyyy!! But I’ll pay whatever for a tattoo I would recommend black pearl❤️

Fantastic experience: I was so lucky to get a tattoo at the Black Pearl as a walk-in. Granted, it was a little one but I really wanted it and wanted to go there. They've been around for something like over 30 years as a family owned and operated business! Robert did a great job on my little ghost and everyone there is so very friendly. I can't wait to go back for a larger colorful piece.

Negative experience: I got a nose piercing on my left side and soon after I began getting keloids on it eventually I got a nose hoop and i began hurting every time I moved it I went up there to get it removed the piercer then yanked the ring out of the nose this left me a big keloid on my nose which won’t go away i got my nose pierced on the other side but now it’s been two months and it’s still causing me pain I was told my nose piercing was going to be free by the piercer but soon as I offered to get my girlfriend a belly ring which is now infected I was charged for both

Negative experience: Pierced my nose without asking if I wanted it there. I thought she was going to mark my nosed and she pierced it in a crazy spot.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Black Pearl for over 20 years & have always received top notch service. As soon my kids were of age, the 1st thing they wanted was a tattoo & everyone made sure it was something meaningful that they wouldn’t regret later in life. Anytime anyone wants a recommendation I send them there because it’s about more than making a profit, they truly care about the customer.

Negative experience: My son had an appointment there today for his first tattoo for his birthday. The appointment was booked weeks ago. We arrived at the establishment and they were closed. I called an texted and there was no response. My son was very disappointed and I am ferrous because this was his only birthday wish. He has made me proud of his grades in school and is on the right track without getting in any trouble. This is one of the reasons why I don't support black businesses.

Fantastic experience: They have a really great atmosphere. They are really nice. I went there for a touch up for a tattoo they didn't do and I only spent 40 bucks. Either way, they are willing to work with you so I think it's a great deal. Either way I'm definitely going back there again. Also they only take cash. No cards. They do have an ATM in there, but I prefer you have cash ready in general if you don't want to pay a $3 fee

Fantastic experience: My family has been going to Black pearl for a long while now, I had 3 out of four tattoos then I even got my 4th one fixed at Black pearl. They're very funny and nice. A great vibe in there every time I walk in the door. I've never fallen in love with a tattoo as much as the one I got today. Once the man finished my tattoo I balled my eyes out with happy tears. It truly did feel as my puppy was right beside me.This place really is AWESOME!!!! I'm so just gonna be like the family and keep coming back ❤️

Fantastic experience: So I did a thing. I got my nose pierced. Tracey (I think) was so gentle. It did not hurt at all. She marked my nose so I could see where I wanted it. And literally less than a minute after I sat down she was done. She went over the aftercare instructions and I was done. There was a wait after I paid, but it wasn’t long and the tattoo shop was busy. I walked in after 3 pm. Everyone there was friendly and professional. She mentioned it was a family business. I’m going back soon for my daith.

Fantastic experience: OMG I went in for a consultation and came out with my nipples pierced. The staff was so nice and professional. My piercer took the time to explain the procedure before I decided to get them done. She was very patient with me. I would definitely go back to her again.

Negative experience: got my nips done here and it was so unprofessional & unsanitary. not only that but the piercer, pierced them too deep. which now a week later i have to take them out due to rejection. would not recommend coming here for any piercing.

Negative experience: Gave the woman piercer another shot after messing up both my tragus and my vertical hood a year ago... Today This chick literally pulled a ruler out and stuck it on my mf tongue! That is the most unprofessional piercer yet... She messed up the double tongue ring 3 times! That's 6 trisd she would of made crocked... And she wanted me to pay 50 for that "to try to make me happy cause she messed up my hood and both my tragus.." What a quack

Negative experience: I got a nose piercing by the lady and recv’d no after care directions, unprofessional. I then called a handful of times to find out what gauge I was pierced with and always received a recording to text a number. I have texted multiple times and received no reply. I wouldn’t go here for piercing, because it seems like I can’t get an answer!!!!!!! Edit: no your response wasn’t helpful, because I still have no idea what gauge was used and you skipped right over that question.

Fantastic experience: have gotten about five piercings from here in the past year and i’ve been satisfied with every one! just went in a few weeks ago to get my nipples done and it was so fast and the piercer matched my vibe and kept me calm,and they are healing amazing.also took my friend here for his ear piercing too(first piercing ever) and it was a good experience! the prices are so good most def will be coming back for more and tattoos in the future. appreciate y’all.

Negative experience: NEVER GO HERE AGAIN SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! I originally came here to get my nose pierced Me and my friend, so it fell out and I had to get it redone but the lady who redid mine was VERY ROUGH AND RUDE and was shoving in the piercing into the hole for 30 seconds before finally just redoing it. After it was done fast forward a month to today, I woke up to it falling out AGAIN and I know it’s not rejecting because I clean it twice a day so I find it a “coincidence” I have to get it repierced AGAIN. Also, my friends piercing ALSO fell out and got infected and she got hers done by the same person I did. Long story short We’re VERY DISPLEASED and would never recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I visited STL from out of town and was staying at the union station hotel. This shop was within walking distance and when I called to inquire about coming in, the owner answered the phone and was super nice and friendly. I loved that this shop is family owned and operated. The artists were very friendly and accommodated our requests. My friend and I both love our tattoos! The atmosphere was welcoming, the shop was clean. Robert was my artist and he did a fantastic job, worked quickly, and his line work was exquisite. I 100% recommended this shop and I will be traveling back to visit this shop for my next Lord of the Rings tattoo. If you skip this shop you are missing out!

Negative experience: I went to get a nose piercing and it was very unprofessional. The woman who did my piercing didn’t ask if I was ready or where I wanted the piercing located. She basically just did it as soon as I sat down. She didn’t give any info on the up keep at all. Definitely don’t go here for piercings.

Fantastic experience: I went in with two of my cousins and my aunt to get our noses pierced! We were all in, pierced, out, and taking selfies outside the shop within 15 minutes! Tracey was great especially considering I was the most nervous of the group!

Fantastic experience: The only place I would get a piercing in St. Louis. Everywhere else is way to over priced, black Pearl is a lot cheaper and very professional. I struggle to change my piercings myself any issues I have I can go up there and they will help me out. I have got 4 piercings from them and they were all worth it! They always accommodate to me and my friends and I would highly recommend!

Negative experience: I paid $200 for a tattoo that I didn’t want. It didn’t include shading nor did it include the original color I was supposed to get. The tattoo took less than thirty minutes to complete and I paid $200 for an OUTLINE DRAWING. When I mentioned getting money back and renegotiate of pricing they completely dismissed me and said the waste of product (red paint) was to blame but the product was never used on me! I am extremely disappointed with my services and how it was handled. I will NEVER be going here or recommending this shop AGAIN! EDIT: As the tattoo healed it revealed the artist cut me too deep and I have scarring on my tatto as a result of it.

Unprofessional atmosphere, they didn't ID me nor have me sign a waiver, the piercer was RUDE and didn't know what she was doing cause she stuck the needle in, told me she did it wrong and had to stick me AGAIN, bled like a pig, not sure she even used the right piercing equipment and as I was trying to take my breath, recover and get the bleeding under control they kept trying to rush me out the shop. Then, the stud sunk down into the piercing, cause they used one way too small. DO NOT COME HERE FOR PIERCINGS.

This place boasts about being black owned but they dont care about the quality of the artwork or the customers. 4 months after my botched tattoo and i am now looking for laser removal surgery since my arm wont heal and is still in GREAT PAIN

Positive experience: My friend && I went to get our naval pierced. Atmosphere was nice, but when he went to pierce mine he had way too much solution (or whatever they use) covering his gloves, resulting in the piercing being crooked and pretty close to the surface. I ultimately had to remove the piercing as my body rejected it.
