Positive experience: I’ve had my ears pierced twice at Dv8. My first experience was great—the piercer provided excellent customer service and did a wonderful job. Unfortunately, my second visit was very different. Even though I had an appointment, I waited over an hour and a half before being pierced. I was seated in the piercing room while the piercer continued to take walk-ins ahead of me. In total, I was there for over two hours. It was disappointing, especially given how positive my first experience was.

Fantastic experience: We brought our 7 year old daughter here to have her earlobes pierced for her first time. Emma was fantastic & did an amazing job explaining each step to all of us as well as making sure our daughter was comfortable throughout the entire process. Emma made sure that she was happy with the specific jewelry picked out & explained the sizing process so our daughter understood why it was better to go with one option vs. another. She also went over pricing with me beforehand. Big kudos to Emma. Thank you for contributing to a very special memory for us! Highly recommend for any first time kiddos.

Fantastic experience: Rick was incredibly kind and educated me on so much about the piercing I got and the ones I’ve had in the past. I had an apprentice work with me as well, I don’t remember her name but she was just as amazing and made me feel very comfortable. Everyone in the shop was so kind and helpful and easy to talk to. She’s so energetic and welcoming and spends a lot of time to make sure you get exactly what you want with both piercings and the jewelry to create the look you are going for. She is a true artist and does fantastic ear curations to show you what piercings you can get and what jewelry will work for you. They have a lot of beautiful gold and white gold jewelry and make a lot of their own gold jewelry in house if you want that or custom pieces, but they also carry implant grade titanium from respected brands if gold is not in your budget and they aren’t pushy about forcing the expensive pieces. Everyone at the front desk is also very friendly and willing to take the time to work with you on the look you want. They also take credit cards, which makes it easier because you don’t have to try to guess how much cash to take out before hand, which is something that is really convenient. I will definitely be coming back for my next piercings. Highly recommend!

Michelle was very professional and funny; she took care to ensure great placement of my septum. Not even 24 hours later there is zero pain! So different from my first experience having a septum piercing done. I definitely recommend DV8. Great staff and great selection of to choose from.

Fantastic experience: I would definitely consider coming back here for future piercings! All the staff were very nice. Alethea did an excellent job on my ear lobes & my friend’s eyebrow. She was fun , kind and kept us both calm. This shop clearly values consent, comfort and safety. The staff was also very informative about everything piercing related. They told us about aftercare, jewelry material, anatomy, etc. My only issue was that I wish it was more clear that the pricing is per lobe. But I still don’t regret it at all.

Negative experience: Booked an appointment for my daughters birthday they double booked her appointment and we waited a while to be told a maybe and wait longer very rude to be honest especially for the amount they charge.

Fantastic experience: About a week ago I got a Monroe, pierced by Alethea at DV8 and the experience has been great. I am a huge baby and she was really fast and really comforting :) The piercing has also been healing nicely and we've been keeping it touch for a downsize . This is my second time being in DV8 for a piercing and the experience was just as great as the last time we went ! Everything was clean and the prices weren't exorbitant. About $30 for the actual piercing and then anything additional was expected jewelry and saline cost. Definitely go here and definitely ask for Alethea !

Negative experience: Had to change my review after I found out that I paid 5x the price at DV8 than Dragon Tattoo. DV8 I paid $480 for two of my girls to get their ear piercings. Dragon charged me $80 plus tip.

Fantastic experience: Love this place! It’s clean, beautifully decorated & the owners & employees are all the nicest people! I had my leg sleeve done here by the extremely talented April Arends & not only do I love it but I get stopped constantly by people asking who did it. The girls on the piercing side are all great too. They’ve helped with jewelry selection/changes & then I most recently got my septum pierced by Alethea - who was friendly, professional and put my nerves at ease throughout the experience. Highly recommend if you’re looking for artists who truly excel at their craft.

Fantastic experience: Was in Des Moines for the weekend and impulsively wanted my nose pierced. I called to make sure they have openings and u was told I could just walk in. I don’t remember who pierced my nose since it was a while ago lol, but he did such a good job. Would definitely go back again for another piercing or tattoo

Fantastic experience: All the ladies were sooo nice here!! Michelle did my mid ear/lobe piercings and she did my sisters left nostril, to match her already pierced right nostril. You can tell she really strives to be the best at what she does. Had all the ladies come in to make sure the nostrils were even, it was cool to see how much she cared to make sure they were symmetrical. Sanitary, professional, and a great experience. Would love to come back!

Positive experience: The piercing turned out great and I guess that’s what really matters. They took their time to explain everything but the process felt drug out which led to increased anxiety time for my daughter. I did feel like there was a bit of bait and switch as there was a multiple line item cost - earring prices listed are for a single, not a pair, and doesn’t include backs - that’s a different cost. There was a line item for the piercing, but also one just to put an earring in a hole that already existed, and then there’s the solution which you didn’t really need to purchase there but other places include it. So to have one hole pierced with a cheaper pair of earrings was $160 plus tax, and they present the tipping option on top of that. Deducted a star for the lack of transparency on a piercing cost prior to scheduling an appointment.

Fantastic experience: So I got my tounge done , I was super anxious about it , but Emma was very reassuring that it's super easy no pain just a little discomfort, she also was gentle no heavy handed, there was a guy there too I believe he was the onwer , he was hella knowledgeable about everything from where from fine line tattoos and other piercings, The shop was so beautiful I love the Greece / Greek statues , the gold mirrors and candles such beauty . They also have some of the most beautiful jewelry, I've seen I'll be back for sure maybe not for piercings but for a tattoo .

Fantastic experience: Alethea is an angel!! I was traveling in California from out of state with a new lip piercing that had been done wrong by another piercer. Woke up one morning and it had embedded and I had no idea what to do. I researched APP certified piercers in the area and drove right to Dv8. She was so sweet and understanding about the whole situation and made me feel so comfortable while she helped me out. Incredibly professional, incredibly caring. Wonderful experience :)

Fantastic experience: Two of my young daughters have had ear piercings done here. Very clean and professional compared to other tatoo shops.

Negative experience: Super kind staff. I have been to a studio in Portland and in SF, and this was the MOST I’ve paid to change the studs on my helix. Way more expensive than I expected! The process took longer than the other studios and it was more stressful. Ultimately, they gave me wayyy too short of a stud length that my ear swelled, impeding the healing process. I wouldn’t recommend.

Fantastic experience: I visited DV8 today to downsize my nostril piercing & purchase/install a new septum piece. Emma who helped me today was wonderful & took her time showing me pieces and installing my jewelry. The staff at DV8 are truly exceptional & their passion for their craft shows. Thanks again!

Fantastic experience: They are the best and saved my piercings. I have two cartilage piercings. One of which was done FOUR times over the years and would just never heal. The second piercing was also done somewhere else. Both had tons of issues and caused a lot of pain. I went and saw them last year and they recommend I take the second one out because a keloid had formed and let it heal and then come back for it to be redone. They changed the jewelry in the oldest on and within in a week for the first time in 15 years it didn’t hurt anymore. They use top quality everything there and I can’t speak highly enough of them and their services. Worth every dollar!!

Fantastic experience: Probably my 8th or so time in to DV8 over the years. I’ve had wonderful experiences with Jane, Rick and the whole team, and today met Nikey who was equally wonderful to work with in helping me make some piecing jewelry adjustments! Beautiful jewelry selections! Nikey was absolutely wonderful in helping me safely remove and reinstall 9 piercings for an MRI. Super detailed and gentle! Looking forward to coming back and adding to my ear collection soon.

Fantastic experience: Alethea is absolutely wonderful! She pierced my nostril 8 months a go and did a fantastic job. She was so nice and really took her time to make sure the placement and everything was correct. My piercing healed quickly and perfectly. I just went back over the weekend to switch to a hoop and happened to have Alethea again. Once again, she was just wonderful. I can’t recommend her enough!

Jewelry here was a little more expensive than what you might find at other shops but it was also nicer looking too, so I was happy to pay more for a piece I actually want. Wouldn't hesitate to come back here for additional piercings (and probably will!). HIGHLY recommend making an appointment, they're a popular shop (for good reason) so wait times can be high.

Negative experience: Worst experience. Unprofessional. Update your website with requirements. We traveled 40 minutes for an appt to be told via text 15 min prior of the appt time of age and documentation requirements which were no where on your website, booking application or booking confirmation. The age requirement of 6 years also makes absolutely no sense.

Fantastic experience: I can’t talk enough about Angelina and her work! I’ve gotten three pieces done by her since she first started at dv8 and I’ve loved every one of them! She puts her heart into each piece and made sure I loved what she had drawn up and took extra care making sure she laid everything down perfectly to look best on my body . She’s also the sweetest, easiest person to talk and checked in regularly to make sure I was comfortable through all of my sessions. These were the biggest works I’d personally gotten done and she made all the experiences wonderful and as stress free as you can make a tattoo. I couldn’t recommend her enough!

Negative experience: Chris butchered my body with a disappointing mash up tattoo when I asked for a coverup. I spent almost 1k for ignorance IF I WANTWD TO ADD ON TO THE ORIGINAL PIECE ID HAVE GONE ELSEWHERE AND WOULD HAVE ASKED FOR THAT SPECIFICALLY. Fantastic experience: My friend and I went on Friday the 13th for the flash tattoos that Justene had designed. While we were waiting I decided to get a septum piercing. I wish I could remember the name of the girl that was helping us out but she was amazing! She set me up with Courtney, who did an amazing job for my first facial piercing! Courtney was so sweet and checked in with me and had me looking amazing. Then we got to our tattoos! Justene was so sweet and easy to chill with. great energy all around and she knocked those tattoos out QUICK! Fantastic experience: I go here for ALL my piercing and jewelry needs. The studio is professional, clean, and has their own in-house stunning jewelry collection. I always leave more than happy with my experience. All of my piercings have been done by Kristy, I highly recommend! We always have a great time mapping and brainstorming our jewelry ideas. I have always loved piercings but have struggled with healing them. Luckily with Kristy’s expertise and the high quality jewelry DV8 offers, I have been able to build my dream ear curation.

Negative experience: My rating is for the jewelry side. Everything is way overpriced. But my issue is if I’m buying a $400 earring what do you mean it doesn’t come with a back? That’s extra 10-20$. And then when I asked if she could put it in my ear that’s another $10? I feel like when your spending that much money they should put it in for free. I’ve only bought jewelry from a few places but I’ve never been charged before.

Positive experience: Amazing piercing staff. Super patient and takes time to make sure it's done right. Their jewelry is beautiful but you're going to pay the price tag of real gold and diamond set. They have affordable titanium options as well. Staff provides amazing after care instructions and I didn't feel rushed to get out of the chair for the next client. I was able to get all my questions answered. Definitely will be back, just need to save up some monies for the beautiful jewelry.

Negative experience: My Cover up doesn't cover up anything!! And Chris went out of line multiple times. I asked to cover red ink and he incorporated it in with the new piece !! I payed hundreds for something I didn't want ! And when I asked to see him bc he also went to deep and the tattoo is scaring he is almost always too busy. And kept telling me to come at a different time Highly disappointed

Fantastic experience: I needed a retainer for my nose and as always it was a great experience here. I had my MRI done and I am going to go back and get new jewelry for my nose piercing.

Negative experience: I booked an appointment for my first tattoo with one of the artist. I showed up for my appointment on time and he never showed up. It was very disappointing. Thankfully the owner Rick was kind about the situation and gave me my deposit back.

Fantastic experience: So happy I came here! Even though I am a middle-aged lady, this was my first piercing, and a super big deal! The decor was much nicer than expected. Sterilization is transparent. All jewelry is biocompatible. Best part was Kristy and staff were so supportive--patient while I picked out the earrings, and understood how momentous this was for me. Overall, a great experience!

Fantastic experience: My 10 year old got her ears pierced and we had the best experience. She really wanted to get them done but was so nervous in the lead up. Our tech Nicole talked to her and got her to calm down enough to get it done. They did a tandem piercing so she only had to go through it once and it worked out so well. My daughter is so happy with her earrings and we've had no problems at all with infections or pain. I highly recommend Dv8.

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak highly enough about tattoo artist Chris Cary. I went to Chris with the intention of getting a large piece on my left arm which evolved into a full sleeve. The work is AMAZING. The artwork itself is gorgeous and the execution is impeccable; crispy fine line work, beautiful contrast, solid shading and vibrant, even color work. I couldn't be more pleased and can't wait to collaborate on another piece with Chris!

Negative experience: Do not come here they will not do what you come in for. First I was told they won’t pierce me, but still charged me for the appointment. Then I wait 3 hours for a tattoo for them to tell me they can’t do it. eta since the shop is lying in response: the piercer 100% charged me for the appointment that she did absolutely nothing in, nothing is free at dv8! She also said my piercing was pierced with a naval ring but that she didn’t have anything to swap it out with…? You don’t carry navel rings?? (It was a 12g internally threaded bent VCH bar that I was pierced with.. not a 14g naval ring) Especially after their lying in response to make themselves look better, I do not recommend.

Negative experience: Scheduled an appointment online and made a note that I had previously had my belly button pierced. They texted me to schedule appointment and mentioned it again. She said “that’s no problem at all”. I show up and remind her and she said oh we won’t be able to do it without even looking at it. I was upset since I wasted my time going out there when I specifically mentioned it before scheduling. She looks at it for half a second and said “no way can I pierce this. Your belly button isn’t shaped properly and should never have been pierced to begin with.” Then proceeded to tell me that only 1/4 of the belly buttons in the world have “proper anatomy” for piercing. She was incredibly rude about it. I left and went to another shop who looked at it and said there was no reason it couldn’t be pierced. They pierced it and it looks great and is healing well. 100% would not recommend this place.

Negative experience: Got my ear pierced there over a year ago, very VERY overpriced. Not good customer service at all and now my ear piercing got infected and their shop has not contacted me back at all to help me remove the earring. Would never go back there or recommend them to anyone.

Positive experience: 2021 I went and got my nose pierced by a traveling artist. Wonderful experience. Today, June 7th 2022, I booked a consultation with April via text. I showed up at 540 for a 6pm consultation. I was told she forgot and went home. They said I could call her, schedule an appointment and put a deposit down. So why did I have to get a babysitter for four kids after work to come in for something that could be done over the phone. Accidents happen but there was NO effort from April to come in like I had to. Frustrated. Won't return.

Fantastic experience: I called ahead for a piercing consultation as I had gotten my lobes done at another shop a few years ago but the process didn't go too well. I came here because I wanted to re-pierce my lobes to get started on stretching and it was a very comfortable process! I had Althea and she did a wonderful job not only making sure I was comfortable (I was anxious and have a low pain tolerance) but she was also happy to answer my questions. I had a great experience and will absolutely come again for future piercings and/or stretching! :)

Fantastic experience: Althea was our piercer for my 8 year old’s first piercing. My daughter showed obvious signs of being nervous and Althea handled her, well, like a loving mom! She walked her through every single step of the process then, when the time came, she and (I’m sorry, I forget your name!) pierced her ears tandem so she only had “one” big poke moment. Definitely made my girl’s birthday one for the memory bank!

Fantastic experience: Rick is an AMAZING piercer and person. I impulsively (like all great things) wanted my VCH pierced and he did a phenomenal job. It healed so fast and I had no bruising, swelling, or excessive bleeding. It’s perfectly straight and it was completely professional and I felt comfortable and safe in his care. I came back after the 40 day healing period to have him change the balls to these beautiful opal ones and I’m just in love. Lacey is also a very kind receptionist and this location has QUALITY jewelry and kind souls. I love them and so should you!

Fantastic experience: My daughter had her ears pierced here for the first time. Rick was super friendly and made the process very easy. The jewelry is pretty expensive for what it is, but all good piercing places really make their money this way. In the final analysis, we were happy to pay for the expertise.
