Fantastic experience: Kita is amazing! She is not only extremely professional and knowledgeable, but is kind and listens to the customer. I have had many artists for piercings and tattoos over my lifetime and across the USA. Kita is someone that I have returned to again and again due to her advanced skill level. I Highly recommend this establishment and specifically this artist!

Positive experience: Good people, good atmosphere, sanitary. However, way overpriced, slow, and strict. Elaborate: Prepare to pay at least $50+ for a piercing and jewelery, wait 3 months before you actually have your tattoo appointment, and to feel interrogated during your tattoo consultation.

Fantastic experience: My favorite (and only) parlor. I've been other places and the quality, kindness and how welcome I feel has never been better than here. Beyond worth every penny spent, and my go-to for a reccomendation any time someone needs one. Shoutout to Jared and Myke for being especially great!

Fantastic experience: I went to Kita for some piercings last weekend and had a very easy and welcoming experience. She was very professional and lighthearted, and I enjoyed my time with her. It was quick, easy, and (relatively, of course) painless. I also heard her talking to kiddos before my appointment and she was a great advocate for their autonomy and making sure they were comfortable with their service. I would 10/10 recommend Kita for your piercing needs. :)

Negative experience: I would give this place 0 - - Stars. Do not go here! Ever never go here! I went in to buy one earring and the receptionist person says that I have to wait 15 minutes and wait for a piercer to get it for me. 15 minutes to purchase one earring why would the person behind the desk not be able to sell merchandise I just don't get it. You're only good to answer a phone and to push customers out the door when they ask for merchandise bad for business very bad for business. You don't deserve the one star

Fantastic experience: Recently had my nose pierced by Dana. She was the BEST and I highly recommend her services, especially if this is a first for you. She was so nice and explained everything well. Reception was also friendly and helpful. The location is very clean and professional. Would definitely choose them again in the future.

Fantastic experience: I got my lobes pierced at Claire's back when I was 14 (we all make mistakes), and over time, one of my ears closed up, so I scheduled on my birthday with Dana to get it re-pierced. I was immediately impressed by how comfortable and clean the entire business was, and Dana was incredibly professional and friendly. She was able to re-pierced the same spot and even offered to try to re-open it to save me some money (that didn't work, but I super appreciated the effort!) Would highly recommend this shop for anyone looking for a new piercing.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been in Madison for a week and I was immediately directed to Blue Lotus when I told my coworkers I wanted my nose pierced. Myke was a joy to work with and he answered all my questions with expertise and sincerity. My piercing turned out beautifully and I will absolutely come back for any piercing I ever want in the future!

Negative experience: Every time, over multiple days I have called, no answer. I used to get all my piercings done here my whole life. Today I went there and it said closed. Online it says open. I understand things in life happen but can you at least warn people before they drive to the middle of no where to see that its closed. ‍♀️I was talking so highly of this place to my nephew who wanted his ears pierced. So instead here I am at Blue lotus instead. Lmao

Negative experience: If you’re considering getting a tattoo here, I would strongly suggest avoiding Jada. The fact that you’re required to have two consultations before even getting to your actual tattoo appointment already felt unusual to me, but I figured every shop has their own process. The issue came when I drove out today for my second consultation — this was the drawing I was presented with, and it honestly looked like it had been thrown together five minutes before I arrived. My nephew could have done better. As a tattoo artist, your job is to bring your client’s vision to life, help tweak ideas, and offer creative solutions if something doesn’t work. Instead, you sat there staring at me like you had no idea what to do — and then you tried to avoid covering the puzzle piece on my ankle because you weren’t sure what you could do with it. For an artist, that’s baffling. When I went to the front desk to cancel my appointment, the receptionist asked if I wanted to reschedule. I said no, because this clearly wasn’t a good fit. I was told I would be forfeiting my deposit. I understand that deposits are normally forfeited for no-shows or cancellations, but in this case, I was walking away because I was completely unsatisfied with what I was given — and this was just a consultation, not a tattoo appointment. In my opinion, keeping a deposit under those circumstances is shady and unprofessional. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Blue Lotus in Sun Prairie.

Fantastic experience: Kids' ear lobe piercings: Kita is the best! She spoke directly to my 8 year old the entire time, giving her power, autonomy, and informed consent the entire time. She was also generally really great talking to and working with a child. I always go to and recommend Blue Lotus for my own piercings, I've worked with a handful of different piercers, but I'll be sending all my parent friends to Kita specifically for their own kids!

Fantastic experience: I was hesitant to go back to blue lotus due to a bad experience at the downtown location 6+ years ago. However, Myke was fantastic. He made me feel comfortable during my piercing appointment. He was very thorough; making sure everything was lined up correctly. Overall a great experience. A little over a year ago, I came to my appointment with many questions (I have some metal allergies and of course I was scared it would hurt ). He was super knowledgeable and did my belly piercing with literally zero pain. Everything healed great for me, I never had any issues. Everyone here is super kind as well!

Fantastic experience: Love the piercers there, but especially Kita. She’s a sweetheart, comes to the rescue when I’ve got questions or I’m struggling to get piercings back in, and she has an amazing vision for what’ll look good on a face. Just started seeing Jared as a tattoo artist and I am so thrilled I did. He fixed some super sub-par work I got from an artist on Columbus and made it the best time. Got me in quick, did amazing work that people can’t stop commenting on, and was an absolute gem to talk to the entire time.

Negative experience: I would prefer to be writing a positive review but that’s not the case. I scheduled an appt for my daughter and I for a small tattoo in my mother’s handwriting. I met with the artist the week prior to discuss design. She took a picture of the handwriting sample I provided and said she’d work on some ideas. When we showed up today for our appointment we were informed the picture had been lost (she said she was looking for it all morning which tells me the work was also last minute) and thus we could not get tattoos. We were offered sincerest apologies and told we could go back home, get the writing sample and come back or reschedule or get a refund. I am at a loss as to why this artist did not reach out to me over the past week to ask for another picture instead of informing us when we showed up for our appt today. I am also confused as to why the design options would not have been worked on during the week, presented to & confirmed by the customer before scheduling the application appt. I have multiple other tattoos and have never experienced this type of service. We chose a refund and were then informed that they would need to call the manager for approval and will call me later (waiting). Very disappointing considering Blue Lotus is noted to be one of the best businesses.

I don't like really loud, rough music so this place is perfect for me. There are individual rooms so it's definitely more private. They are really clean and have good quality jewelry. Fantastic experience: Highly recommend. Clean studio - very chill, down-to-earth vibe all around. Front desk staff is always friendly and helpful, and they’re very accommodating for booking. I got a full color tattoo of a very sentimental piece on my calf. Jared was awesome to work with, from consult to finished work. He’s very talented, but also very honest about how a piece will translate to a tattoo and ways to improve on the design so it looks the best it possibly can. Very pleasant experience. He’s not heavy handed at all and compared to other tattoos of similar size I had done by other artists, he completed the piece quickly and I had barely any swelling/oozing after it was done. It’s healing up beautifully (<2 weeks post at time of writing) All around great experience, I will definitely return in the future (and my boyfriend as well lol)

Fantastic experience: My 7year old daughter has been begging for months to get her ears pierced, so after some research, we made an appointment at Blue Lotus. From my initial phone call through when we left the building, everyone was exceptionally friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Myke, who did the piercing was absolutely amazing. He made my very shy 7yo laugh and talk through the whole experience. He explained everything he was doing, and made everything fun! She even smiled the entire time he putting a needle through her ear! Myke is very skilled at what he does, and has a gift with children! Could not recommend him and the Blue Lotus staff enough!

Fantastic experience: I got my bridge done by Kita and she is am absolutely amazing! The shop just was good energy and the eaiting room was comfy. Was slightly nervous strictly cause I'm weird with things/hands near my eyes. It went perfectly and I absolutely love my new piercing. I highly recommend Kita for your piercing needs and wants.

Fantastic experience: Took my 17 year old for ear piercing. Very clean, staff was very nice. Waiting area was nice, music was not super loud but a good vibe. Sterilization equipment was clearly in good condition, a new container of Cavi wipes on the wall for sterilization of surfaces. More expensive than we expected but we had no frame of reference. Kita was the piercer and she was friendly and took her time aligning and making sure my kid felt comfortable and ready to go. Needle pierced, not a cartridge gun.

I got my very first piercing with Kita, and she was incredibly skilled and patient. She thoroughly explained the potential risks and then gave me a tongue piercing that I am absolutely in love with. Fantastic experience: Jared Shugart did a tattoo of mine that has so much meaning to me and what happened to me as a child. I had always wanted to get a Medusa tattoo and he made it exactly how I wanted it. I wanted a beautiful woman but also empowering woman’s rage. He was absolutely amazing and I’d recommend him to anyone! Love him! Also the picture does no justice because I struggle with cancer and I’m recovering from a massive surgery so the picture is not the best quality.

Fantastic experience: My daughter got her ears pierced here yesterday. Kita was amazing with her and helped her be less nervous. She explained everything to my daughter throughout the process instead of trying to distract her (which was what my kiddo needed, she likes to have all the information). There’s no redness or swelling of any kind; it looks like she’s had them pierced for years. It’s so worth it to go to a professional. Highly recommend them and if you’ve got a younger child ask for Kita!

Fantastic experience: My daughter wanted to get her ears pierced and I decided to support her by being a big tough Dad who would get his done with her. We were so lucky to have Myke help us today. My daughter and I were both understandably nervous as it was both of our first piercings, but Myke went above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable. Myke’s knowledge, experience and attention to detail were amazing. Can you get piercings done cheaper, sure. But I would gladly pay the same amount over and over again to have a professional like Myke help us again. From explaining the process to putting us at ease, Myke was on top of everything, making a very nervous first time into something we will remember. If you have kids that want to have piercings, I cannot recommend Myke enough. You get what you pay for and our family was more than satisfied with the entire experience. I never thought I would have a “piercing person” but Myke is it! Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Got pierced by Kita today on the Westside (and once before in January) and I just love going to her!! She’s great and makes you feel super comfortable during the whole piercing process. Happy I gave her my trust!! Highly recommend her if you’re getting pierced anywhere in Madison! Prices may be on the higher side for a piercing shop, but truly worth it for the experience they have and good quality metals.

Fantastic experience: My 13 yr old daughter decided she was ready to get her ears pierced. Myke specializes in youth piercings and it shows. From the moment he met her and throughout the process, he spoke to her like a young lady, respectfully and fully transparent with the steps involved. She got comfortable enough to ask him any questions. He was like a life coach + expert piercer! Getting a tattoo/piercing is inherently intimate, and I’ve always felt safe and seen here. I can count on the private rooms being clean and sterile yet not cold like a doctor’s office. I love that I can make same-day appointments to feed my impulsivity and never sacrifice quality for efficiency. I recommend Blue Lotus to everyone I know looking for any type of body mods/art!

I had decided to get a paw print to memorialize my late pup, and he did an amazing job walking me through options as well as helping me visualize what he had in mind. The tattoo looks fantastic and is a perfect replica of my dogs print. Can’t wait to go back and get some more work done from him in the future. Photo is 24 hours after the tattoo, and the healing is going really well. Highly recommend this shop. UPDATE: Second photo is 4 days after my tattoo right after I removed my saniderm. Fantastic experience: Myke was calm, professional and personable. They pierce by pushing a needle through your ear lobe -no piercing gun. It was a quick procedure done while lying down after I had approved exactly where on my ear lobes the second piercings would be placed. Everything was clean and everyone was kind and patient.

Fantastic experience: I took my 8-year-old daughters to get their ears pierced at the Odana Rd location. My twin girls have *very* different personalities, and Myke was AMAZING with both of them. He quickly "read" each of them independently, and adapted his demeanor to make both feel safe, secure, and comfortable. The studio was very clean, and I loved the messaging we got from every single employee we met--that each person gets to decide what is right for their own body. From reception to piercing to end payment, it was a positive experience all around.

Fantastic experience: Jared took me back and gave me a chest tattoo of my two favorite albums. The Division Bell and Jar Of Flies. We listened to the Facelift album while he did it and his humor distracted me from the pain. It turned out perfect! 10 out of 10!

She squeezed us in at the last minute to remove the troublesome piercing and was so kind and empathetic throughout our entire interaction. Would highly recommend Dana for your next piercing!

Fantastic experience: What an experience getting my daith re-pierced on 2/12 with Kita! We started with a friendly welcome in a beautiful lobby which was Doctor's Office clean and soft calming music playing. On to my piercer Kita, her energy could power a small town! She was very thorough during our consultation even though she knew I had the piercing before but it closed. When I told her I stopped my blood thinner for X doses, she stopped to make sure the 1/2 life passed and it would be was safe to pierce. She said I would stay there 15 minutes to make sure any bleeding stopped or they would send me to the ER. She helped me make the best starting jewelry choice instead of recommending the cute much more expensive piece. Time to pierce, she told my husband he was welcome to join us. She said having someone with a person getting pierced can be calming. Her room was like a personalized mini version of (again) a doctor's exam room. As she set up she explained what she was going to do before, during, and after. Had me lay down for the daith piercing, which my other piercer at another place had me either stand or sit, and continued to explain what she was doing while she was doing it and said I barely bled. She cleaned me up, asked a few times how I was doing and offered to help me sit up. She gave me a card with post care instructions and her business card and told us what to do and don't do for the post care basically reiterating what was on the card and a little more based on our interaction. Check out time, Kita walked us to the cashier and chatted with us like we were long time friends, I told her I'd be back to have her do the other ear as soon as this one was healed enough. Again she encouraged patience. $93 later for piercing, tip, and after care kit, I left with minimal pain and was very pleased. I was surprised that the pain was so minimal, the other times I have had this piercing immediately the pain was almost intolerable and lingered for many months. This time the night of the piercing I rolled on that side and had a little pain. The next night and from then on, I have been sleeping on it with NO pain. A week later and I can touch the outside of the ear firmly with no pain. If I can get an appointment with Kita for 2/18 or 19 I will be back that soon. If not I'll wait until my Birthday on 2/25. Attached is the day of piercing notice that there's no swelling or redness and it's been that way for this past week. THANKS KITA and the Blue Lotus Tattoo and Piercing team!

Fantastic experience: Jared did my slayer tattoo and let me say, not only is it my first tattoo, but it def won't be my last especially from him. I love this thing he did it perfectly man. Shout out to Jared and get in touch with him he is awesome. Very fun guy, nice to talk to, helps you through if you faint (like I unfortunately did). I'm def gonna go back man, blue lotus has a very welcoming vibe and they are an amazing place.

Negative experience: I got a hand tattoo from Jared. I was supposed to get a touch up for free he mentioned it was free 4Xs. Asked for him to touch up my other hand tattoo and he said he would do it with the one I am going to need all free. I comeback a month later and he tries to charge me $125 for the touch up. I asked why and didn’t really give an answer. I’ve gotten all my other tattoos from Blue Lotus but this really got me. I went to another artist in Oregon who did the touch ups for FREE, now I go to him great guy! If you have touch ups get a video agreement or a signature from the artist or you’ll get screwed too.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to have my piercing done by Kita. She displayed, during my appointment, a high level of knowledge and professionalism. She was more concerned with how to offer better service/support, rather than knowing the “why” for my preferences (type of piercing, selection of jewelry, any doubts, etc.). I felt nervous coming in, but was beyond grateful after I left the Lounge. Thank you for the unforgettable experience.

Fantastic experience: My child wanted to get their ears pierced for their 11th birthday and Myke made it an exceptional experience. Super reassuring, friendly, and enjoyable - top notch!

Fantastic experience: Got my ears and nostril pierced by Myke and he did a wonderful job. First time getting pierced by anyone and he was assuring & easygoing and kept me calm through the process. Healed perfectly and extremely painless.

Fantastic experience: I came in one day, hoping to have a consult which I got. I met with Jared who interpreted my rough draft, poor drawing into something that would actually work on my skin. He was very good at listening to what the tattoo was supposed to mean, and made it better than my original idea. After the consult appointment was a week or so later, and when I came in, he had fantastic representations for the elements of my tattoo, and we got to work, and then the ink started flowing. Jared is very easy to talk to you, he is good at interpreting ideas and fitting them to you. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment for a piercing with Kita and she was amazing! She was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and an amazing piercer. I have never had a better experience (even the individuals on the phone and front desk were the best!) I would absolutely go again.

Fantastic experience: Kita (sorry if I spelled thst wrong) is amazing with kids ear piercings. I would highly recommend her and Blue Lotus. My only tip for parents would be have them do the cleaning and care lesson after the piercing not before because the anticipation did freak my daughter out.
