Fantastic experience: Went out and about to get some ear piercings on a Friday and Screaming Needle said they could see us right away. I am a bad person and cannot remember the person who met us at the desk but it was a 5 star experience at the reception and on the initial phone call. Andrew was phenomenal! Both lobes were painless and the hygiene practices were immaculate. The earings that were provided for me to wear during the healing process are also top notch. They come with a spherical back lockout so when sleep time comes I dont have a pin poking me in the neck. Cheers Screaming Needle!

Negative experience: Worst tattoo of my life. Got it done in 2018 and I’m now getting it removed.

Negative experience: I got one helix on each of my ears done by Andrew. While one was perfectly fine, the other was not only disgustingly lopsided vertically, but also horizontally. It's horrifying how bad it was. It wasn't because I was sleeping on it either, I noticed the incorrect placement within two days. I would beg someone to not get a piercing here because genuinely, how does one mess up a piercing that badly? Vertically AND horizontally misplaced? I don't why they continue to trust themselves to put needles through people if they clearly can't do it even marginally correctly.

Fantastic experience: Joey does great work! We are becoming regulars because of his artistic talent! Definitely recommend! 5 stars for sure! He has reworked a few of our old tattoos and has given them life.

Negative experience: STEER CLEAR. The piercing guy at this place is one of the most egotistical men I've ever met in my life, and that's truly saying something. I have walked in here multiple times trying to get my jewelry changed out, and the way he talks to me has me walking out the door every time because I don't want someone like that touching my face. WHACK energy. If he knew how to treat people he could have gotten a loyal customer, and probably several more through my connections. I also own a business and I WOULD NEVER speak to a customer the way he has. It’s important to make people feel comfortable and secure, especially when someone is going to put a needle through your face. I've heard the way the tattoo artist talks to their clients as well and I am not impressed. The adorable desk girl is awesome, and I feel bad she has to work in that environment. I very rarely ever give bad reviews, however to add even more to the story, my friend went there for a tongue piercing and the piercer couldn't even get the ball on the jewelry for 20 minutes and my friend had to finish the piercing for her. If you're going to be an arrogant, rude person at least be good at your job. The awful tone he takes with women feels completely different than how he talks to men. My partner was with me last time and heard/felt it too. It’s 2026, get it together. Do better!

Positive experience: I have gone to screaming needle for most all of my piercings. Piercings are $30 dollars (some piercings you can choose to get a gem stud for an extra $5). Andrew does a good job, he gets the piercings done quick and makes sure you like where they are placed.

Negative experience: got my septum pierced here and do not recommend. the front worker was so kind but the piercer was very cold and did not make my friends or i feel comfortable. i went to an APP certified shop in GR less than two hours after leaving this shop and they informed me that it was pierced way too far forward and too high in my nose. i understand everyone has different anatomy but letting someone leave the shop with septum jewelry completely inside of their nose and saying it’s fine is crazzzzy lol i recommend going to an APP certified shop instead any day

Negative experience: one of the worst places you can get piercings at. I went to get a vertical helix and a regular helix, they never discussed the type of jewelry that was being used and gave me 20 gauge dainty earrings with butterfly backs (which should NEVER be used for cartilage piercings). I ended up having to take them out due to the fact they were pierced incorrectly and the improper jewelry was used. I paid for them to mess up the cartilage in my ear, would never recommend anyone to go.

Negative experience: Customer service was good ,the piercer gave me the time I needed cause I’m sooo scared of needles but, my piercings are crooked and I’m and dissatisfied with that on the other hand they are healing fine

Negative experience: The piercer is extremely rude and has no idea what he’s doing. He dismissed me and treated me horribly for asking questions on how to take care of my piercing and didn’t even offer a tissue as blood was dripping from my ear. The piercing didn’t even last long either, got infected quickly and was very painful. So don’t go here unless you’re trying to waste away money and be treated like garbage. Can’t remember his name but he had blonde hair

Fantastic experience: Last week I had an appointment at the Wyoming location that didn’t go according to our plan, but the team over at the Plainfield location was amazing! They offered to get me right in and Toast did an amazing job on my tattoo, he offered me a discount for the hassle and was really accommodating through the whole process. The tattoo itself is better than I had imagined, I love it and I would definitely go back! Also Jacob at the desk is maybe one of the coolest humans I’ve encountered, he handled the business and chaos of a Tuesday like a champ and somehow managed to make me feel like I was a VIP customer, more people should take a page out of his book! Fantastic experience: I have come to the Screaming Needle on Plainfield numerous times & have never had a bad experience. I went & got my navel re pierced the other day (I had a very poor experience getting my navel pierced at a different Screaming Needle location) & Andrew did absolutely incredible. It was virtually pain free, super quick, & he had glucose tablets ready for me for after my piercing as I usually get a little light headed. He has done almost every single one of my piercings. He is just so funny, so calm & professional, & someone who KNOWS what he is doing. I love coming here & I can't wait to come back again.

I got and estimate for my tattoo a few days ago and the second I walked in Jake at the counter made me feel so welcomed and at ease! He was SO sweet and friendly, I loved talking to him! I got an otter on my arm and Scott was my artist and he did an amazing job, super friendly, me and him chatted through the whole thing! I'm still giddy about my tattoo and my experience there, everything about it was great, they were amazing at making me feel calm because I was rather nervous!

Negative experience: I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my experience with Andrew deserves to be addressed. I came in with a valid concern: the bars in my nipple piercings were clearly too short — the balls were sinking into the tissue, causing swelling and irritation. Instead of listening with care or at least examining the issue first, Andrew responded with a dismissive and condescending tone, asking, “Did you do anything to get the swelling down?” — without so much as looking at the piercings to assess the situation. When I asked about longer jewelry, I was told the biggest bar available was a tongue ring. I asked if that would work, and was met again with a strange, patronizing tone: “It’s a bit excessive.” Honestly, that’s what I should’ve said about the placement he originally gave me — which another professional piercer at Pain for Sale on 28th Street later confirmed was set way too far back. Thankfully, the team at Pain for Sale not only acknowledged the issue, but fixed it promptly by giving me properly sized bars — no attitude, no condescension, just professionalism and care. Andrew may be experienced, but this encounter showed a clear lack of bedside manner and professionalism. If you’re going to trust someone with your body, they should at the very least be willing to look at the problem before offering dismissive opinions.

Fantastic experience: Stopped here for a walk-in to get a tattoo after my Linkin Park show in GR. Staff were super helpful in fitting me in last minute, and Toast was an excellent artist to work with. He did a wonderful job! Thank you again, I appreciate it so much ❤️

Fantastic experience: Came in to get my step daughter’s septum done. Ended up hitting my shin on a seat. Guy behind counter offered to fight the seat for me and I have no doubt he would have jumped over that counter if I’d asked. Five stars. Also piercing came out excellent, Cammi is great.

He's also very thorough and has a great work ethic when it comes to working with the clients. Toast being one of the amazing tattoo artists, and has passion for his work and wants to make sure his clients are happy woth the works of art he creates. I highly recommend seeing him, if your looking to get some unique ink work done. Piercer: Drew is fantastic in the shop, his precision ,when it comes to the piercing department is on point. He aims to please, considering I've had several piercings done by him. I enjoy this location and plan on c o ming back in the future. Great job guys and keep up the great work!

Positive experience: went for the 2 for 30$ on a tuesday, everyone was super nice and it was really quick. one thing though is that they will pierce you with a hoop and you should NOT do that. i did and had problems for about a month until i switched to a bar. besides that, everything was great

Negative experience: Got frog eyes 3 weeks ago was only given instructions to rinse with half water half mouthwash nothing else my ring looked crooked after I got it done thought it was cause of swelling then it became like a septum piercing in my tongue was very careful with eating and tonight while drinking water i swallowed the ring I now have a gap on the top or my tongue will be in to see what can be done

Vibes- immaculate… piercing 1000/10 I’ve been all over the states between tattoos and piercings!!! and have not had better treatment than here. We are scheduling ALL body mods from here on out. Very convenient it’s only a few hours south of us! IF I AM WILLING TO DRIVE HOURS SOUTH DO NOT BAT AN EYE! The staff will welcome you like family and answer ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS! I DIDNT WANT TO LEAVE I LOVED THE ATMOSPHERE. I was in and out in 20 mins with paperwork/ greeting and piercings. I GOT MY TRIAGES, 2 CONCH ON ME AND MY TRIPLES. I’ve never met anyone more steady handed. I WILL DIE ON THE HILL FOR SCREAMING NEEDLE

Fantastic experience: Was a great and quick experience. Went in on Tuesday for the 2 for $30 piercings and got my lobes repierced. Took about 10 minutes in and out, and I'm very happy with the results

Negative experience: They pierced through hard cartilage when they pierced my septum. This was confirmed by a reputable studio in the area when they replaced my ring the following year. The healing process was incredibly painful.

Negative experience: Went for the 2 for $30 today with a friend and Andrew the piercing artist was rude/ brief during our piercings. Piercings went well/are symmetrical however when my friend passed out shortly after the piercings, he not only yelled at me to move the belongings I set on the piercing table, so he could lay her down, but also LET HER NEW MEDUSA PIERCING HIT THE TABLE. He gave her glucose tablets and water (the right thing to do), and then seemed to laugh at the situation (her passing out). Called to complain to the manager (Lexie) she brushed it off and did not seem to have any intention of communicating my complaints. Will not be going back or recommending TO ANYONE.

Negative experience: I got my nose pierced here, and it was fine at first. I went back twice to get a hoop put in. Both times were very painful, even though I had waited the recommended amount of time, and both piercers were very rough with my nose. Both times I went, the jewelry did not sit right in my nose, and they told me it was because I had a “small nose” which I do not in fact have. After the second time they put a hoop in and it looked wrong, I went to a different piercing shop. They informed me that my piercing had been done completely crooked and would not heal properly. They also took out the hoop and put a stood in and it was completely pain free. Now I have to take my nose ring out, let it heal, and the re pierce it. not a good experience!

Fantastic experience: screaming needle is the best peircing and tattoo shop in west michigan. my first experience at screaming needle was to fix the mistake of another shop that pierced me with the wrong jewelry for my anatomy. staff/receptionists are always sweet (guy with glasses up front), make you feel comfortable and in good hands while trusting them with your new ink/metal. got an afro hello kitty tattoo by jeff and it came out perfect! just as i wanted and he was a very funny guy. 10/10 customer service & work. (reminder to tip ur service workers)

Fantastic experience: my sister and mom previously had came here for their piercings and tattoos and have had a good experience and i was excited to get my first facial piercing there as well. the process was SO QUICK and i was in and out immediately. they sent me an email explaining everything i need to do to keep it clean and my piercer was also very helpful with informing me as well before i left. overall it was a great experience and i'm excited to get more piercings and possibly tattoos in the future!

Negative experience: I’ve come here for multiple piercings, Andrew is normally who I have and he’s okay, not amazing and not bad. But this time I had the new girl, Cammi. She was so rude and aggressive, she just seemed so agitated the entire time and made me more anxious than I already was.

Fantastic experience: Took my 6 year old to get her ears pierced for the first time and Cammi was great. She made my daughter feel so comfortable. I also had my nose pierced there and found everyone super friendly and the space was super clean.

Negative experience: NEVER get a piercing here. I’ve only heard horror stories, but my ears usually in the past have healed very well from piercings so I decided to go for their 2/30 deal. I got 2 cartilage piercings, one of them I had to take out after a month because of how painful it was, and the other I’ve had in for over a year, I cleaned it and took care of it DAILY and it NEVER healed so I decided to take it out, I now have a huge bump on my ear and it is extremely infected. Never go here, not worth it for the cheap piercings!!!

Fantastic experience: Sadly I wasn’t able to get mine done (make sure your license is up to date). However my friend had a great experience. Very clean and fast. Staff was very respectful and handled a rush well.

Negative experience: Visited the shop to pick up replacement jewelry for two of my piercings. I explained to the receptionist at the counter that all I needed was a new bar & was immediately shut down & told “I don’t know anything about that so you’re going to have to wait for Andrew (piercer) to get done so he can grab that for you”. Usually I wouldn’t mind waiting but Andrew was in the process of piercing multiple people & there was still more people waiting to get pierced in the lobby. We waited for the first two people & then instead of offering to just grab me a quick replacement out of the case, we were made to wait for him to get through the entire lobby of piercings before us. If you are going to work as a receptionist at a piercing & tattoo shop, you should be trained to have some knowledge of what is in the case & other basic answers to commonly asked questions. No reason why I should have to wait for an extended period of time to get a piece of jewelry while everyone else is getting actual work done because the employees aren’t properly educated.

Fantastic experience: I love this place, the customer service is always good. They always thank you for coming in. I go here for Morgan though. He is the piercing whisperer! He did my piercing so fast and had me laughing the entire time. He is efficient, quick and had great customer service. I wish he was piercing everyday because I would come up with an idea to get more piercing because of him. I will always be loyal because of Morgan. Yall need to call and find out when he is piercing because he is the truth.

Fantastic experience: Took my 16yr old for her birthday today. Got her second ear piercing and bellybutton. First off, the young receptionist was so welcoming and charming. The gentleman with the longer hair was just that a gentleman. And lastly Andrew did a quick, and precise job. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Positive experience: place is okay, my ear and nose piercing were good but my belly wasn’t really good. Andrew did not do it straight, and he was kinda rude as well. i went back to have it looked at and he said it looked like that cuz i’m fat and squished my stomach together. when u try to make conversation he just doesn’t care

Fantastic experience: Best tattoo could be who a fellow tattoo artist gets their tattoo. I see Jeff Grachtrup. He can be found at the Plainfield location. Jeff has been tattooing for over 3 decades. (I’ve seen other shops brag how long they have been tattooing but they combined everyone’s time, lol). Jeff isn’t just a tattooist, he is an artist. Big teddy bear too for you first timers. I have been tattooed by a few people. Jeff is light handed but the color/shading on your tattoo is solid and heals well. With his time he has also the knowledge of what works & what doesn’t. Our skin bodies are 70%ish water; so if Jeff tells you to change the design… trust him. I recently had him recolor a half sleeve and piece on my spine. I love them….and wish I recolored them sooner. Jeff’s prices are more than reasonable. He really should charge more. You are getting a deal for what you are receiving, so May I suggest tipping him.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this shop! I went with friends on Tuesday for the 2 for $30 deal. I had looked at reviews online and decided to go to this specific Screaming Needle location because I saw a lot of good reviews on Andrew. I'm glad I did! He was so patient, quick, and friendly! When we first entered the shop, the receptionist (I didn't catch their name, I wish I could shout them out) greeted us in a kind and relaxing manner, making jokes and teasing to put us at ease and was so welcoming. The piercer, Andrew, made sure we were confident, and pierced us quickly, but with precision. Piercings (daith and helix) barely hurt (coming from someone with low pain tolerance). He also pierced my friend, who was extremely nervous, and was very patient with her, and helped her decide what to do when her original plan didn't work out. I will absolutely be coming back here, and I highly recommend not only the shop, but the piercer, Andrew! Thank you Screaming Needle for the awesome experience!

I met with him a few days prior to go over the details, but had otherwise never had any tattoo work done here. The front desk staff was very helpful & friendly, along with the other tattoo artists. Prices are very fair, work areas are very clean & sanitary. Super chill & welcoming environment, especially with having never been in before for any length of time. Joey did an amazing job on my tattoo. Lines are super clean & I couldn't be happier. You can absolutely tell he's extremely skilled at his trade. I will for sure be a returning customer & recommend this spot to others!

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Screaming Needle in GR. I went in for the Tuesday piercing deal and was in and out easy. My piercer Andrew was great. Piercings were done quick and smooth! I got my conch and helix done and I love them!!

Negative experience: In the process of getting a tattoo I just got 5 months ago removed because it's so awful. Way too dark and deep and was done by a guy who apparently has been tattooing for 20+ years and said he knew what fine line was. He didn't even change needles to "shade". Now I have to spend money on removal to get it done by someone who actually knows how to tattoo.

Fantastic experience: Went on 2 for $30 day for getting my lobes triple pierced (so 4 piercings). Not long of a wait at all, super efficient and clean. I was out in 30 minutes total and the piercing itself took less than 5 minutes, I swear. Quickest and most painless piercing experience I've ever had. Andrew knows what he's doing, he's super personable and it was just a great experience overall. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I had a great first experience at the Plainfield Screaming Needle! I went in on a Tuesday (2 piercings for $30), and there were lots of other people doing the same. A bit of a wait, but worth it! Go right when it opens if you don’t want to wait. I got two helix piercings on the same ear, which I recommend - if you get a piercing on each ear it’s harder to sleep on your side. I was really nervous going in, but it didn’t hurt at all! I iced my ear for about 30min while waiting in line and I think that did the trick, so I recommend! It’s been about 5 days since and there’s minimal soreness. I recommend!

Fantastic experience: My daughter showed up last Tuesday and they had my information but turned my daughter away because there was no photo proof she was the person on the birth certificate, she forgot her school ID. I was so proud because lets say someone else tries to bring her in for a tattoo i don’t approve of, i know they won’t let it happen. Im so glad it has to be proven 100% you are who you say you are and the kid is in your care to have it done. We went back today, we were the first ones there, went a half hr early because the second they open people flood in, they were nice and they were really fast!! I’m glad we went early and skipped waiting in line. We wouldn’t have went early if we didn’t see how crowded it was the prior week when we were turned away due to the missing documents lol
