Fantastic experience: love my tattoo, good service and lovely people to

Fantastic experience: There’s choice to be had for a tattoo in Hertford and although I can’t speak for the other studios i can’t recommend Gumtoad enough and came to them via a recommendation from a trusted friend. I’d popped in a couple of times, met Emma on the front desk - Grant came to introduce himself and look at the type of designs I was thinking about. Price was super fair and booking was straight forward. I had to change the booking time and this was managed with no fuss at all. The studio is a super cool space and both Em and Grant are the perfect blend of friendly and professional, they are reassuring and highly skilled in both discussing your designs, listening to what you want but also letting you know what will or won’t work - I sat in the chair full of confidence and everything was great. The guys are chatty, engaging and for me, that’s super important too. I don’t want to sit in a studio in silence for 4 hours! The design I wanted was a Swift bird on my upper arm, with a big nod to traditional Japanese styling, Grant and Em discussed this with me, tweaked the design and listened to how I wanted things while also letting me know what would and wouldn’t work. The process of mapping it out in terms of placement and size was super smooth I felt in control of my own destiny, execution was brilliant - incredible skill and detailing! I am so pleased with the results. The guys use second skin for aftercare and I can’t recommend this enough - no messing around with cling film etc. This came off after 4 days, the aftercare instructions both in the studio and sent to me was all super clear and healing had been straight forward - I bought the in house cream and this was great too. I also had an additional last minute request for a line tattoo to pay tribute to my cat. This was accommodated without any fuss at all and that was massively appreciated. Fantastic experience: I recently climbed Kili and wanted a tattoo of my accomplishment but I had a specific design in mind. They guys worked tirelessly getting my design exactly how I had imagined it and then carried it out with perfection! Honestly so greatful!! Thank you guys until the next one

Fantastic experience: Absolutely awesome had a hand tattoo today ,and it is by far the best tattoo I have ever had ,the number 1 tattooist in Hertford ,and beyond! Grant is a great guy as well ,and Emma is also great ,very welcoming and a very friendly tattooist with no attitude whatsoever ,which is not that common unfortunately in some tattooists. Hertford should be proud to have gumtoad in there town ,couldn't recommend enough ,and I know where ill be going for any future tattoos .Thanks guys and ill see you all very soon for more !

Negative experience: Really disappointed. I wasn’t going to write a review as there were things I wasn’t happy with anyway but the fact that I’ve been told touch ups are charged for is really disappointing, especially as it’s only been a couple of weeks since the tattoo was done and parts of the tattoo are missing. I’m now having to get someone else to sort it out. I had just given birth a week before but was excited to get a tattoo to commemorate my children. Usually I would go to my hometown to have a tattoo but I decided to try out gumtoad as a local tattoo place. I arrived and was sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes whilst Grant had a conversation on loud speaker on his phone where the conversation wasn’t particularly professional. My appointment started almost an hour late. The tattoo itself looked good so I was happy but once washing I realised some of the tattoo was missing. I asked if I could have this touched up, as Grant had said to let him know if anything needed touching up, and was told there was a £20 set up fee for this. I have never had this before, I have about 20 tattoos and this is the first time I was told I would be charged for a touch up. I now have to go elsewhere to have this done. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Emma & Grant are the best! Super friendly, completely committed to getting the art exactly right and for me especially, Grant suggested going down a route I hadn't even considered for my design that just blew me away. I just took in a photo id taken and Grant suggested we do some dot-work and the result was phenomenal. I genuinely had a good time during the two hours I spent there and would probably get another tattoo just to go back and hang out with the team some more!

Fantastic experience: Wow, what an awesome experience! This was my first tattoo and to say I was a little nervous was an understatement. The whole experience was made so enjoyable and I'm very appreciative of that. Emma was super friendly and helpful when I called in to make my appointment and Grant is so personable and put me totally at ease on the day. They both offered excellent advice about the placement of my tattoo as I wasn't totally sure. Needless to say, I LOVE it. It healed amazingly well and quickly and no one believed I'd only just had it done. All testament to Grant's amazing skills! I'm already planning my next one! Fantastic experience: I had booked in for a piece in October but then got a spontaneous idea for another and asked if I could come in last min (was a small piece). Grant was very accommodating and got the assignment right, designing it quickly but making sure I was happy with design, placement etc. The studio is modern and clean and Grant was very welcoming, friendly and chatty. Negative experience: I’m kinda bit disappointed with my tattoo and my friend's for matching tattoos. A tattoo artist didn’t do the exactly same design as the one we want. My tattoo has one missing thick link line that has been missed. My friend have one dot tat that came out of nowhere in the middle of line tattooing. We had booked the appointment at 4 pm but we waited on 1 hour later and then finally tattooed my mate we still have to wait a little bit longer. They are kept talking to the employee while we are tattooing. :(

Fantastic experience: Went to the studio for my cover up tattoo , I wanted an small butterfly tat covered up, they produced an amazing design for me that exceeded my expectations. I’m so happy with my ink! I was nervous at first as this was my biggest piece but grant made me feel very comfortable throughout the process and we just chatted keeping me distracted. Fantastic experience: From the moment I walked in to chat about my idea the week before, till walking out yesterday with my new tattoo, I was totally impressed with everything about this place. Great studio, clean, looks amazing, Martha and Emma are both great people and put me at ease straight away. Within 2 minutes I knew Martha was the one to do my tattoo. Got my design which was spot on and went in to spend a very pleasant three hours chatting and laughing while Martha did her magic. I loved my time there and absolutely adore my tattoo. Fantastic experience: Recently travelled down and had a really nice relaxed appointment with Marty. The studio is very comfortable and clean, lots of room and great artwork. Marty was so welcoming and professional. She made me feel so comfortable, and was happy to reprint the stencil a couple of times until we were happy with the size and placement. She worked quickly and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. Marty recommended the aftercare cream they sold and I really like the consistency and how moisturising it is. The tattoo is healing well, and I am very happy with the outcome. Thank you Marty, hope to see you again soon :)
